Reborn and Counterattack: The CEO's Powerful Sweetheart

”Since it’s known that this national treasure was passed down from the Li Family, why hasn’t the Chief Officer taken action to apprehend it?”

Gu Tong wasn’t blinded by wealth; sometimes, too much money can bring troubles, which isn’t necessarily a good thing.

Moreover, the Chief Officer had long made decisions about the complex situation with the Li Family, getting involved at this moment might not be the wisest move.

”The elder of the Li Family is elusive and holds a high status. Since the Li Family is essentially his descendants, taking action to apprehend doesn’t align with protocol! Furthermore, the Li Family is not only a prestigious clan but also the leader among them. Any incident would have significant ramifications, causing widespread panic.”

”Of course, the most crucial point is the lack of evidence! Without evidence, everything is just empty talk. Even a thorough investigation requires justification!”

Gu Tong now understood the predicament faced by the Academy.

They couldn’t intervene directly, nor could they send someone in. With no alternatives, they decided to employ Li Yan, which might be the best strategy.

Of course, this plan was devised personally by the Li elder. Firstly, it resolved the internal conflicts within the family, and secondly, it ensured Li Yan’s safety, achieving two goals with one action.

Even if the Chief Officer was fully aware and frustrated internally, he had no other options.

He could only protect Li Yan until he could complete this mission, and then he assigned him to the Li Family to carry out this task that originally belonged to his family.

So, that’s how it is...

Gu Tong finally grasped the general situation and said, ”Li Yan has been away from the Li Family for many years. There must be various objections within the Li Family, and his identity issues will become crucial. How did you resolve this matter?”

”That’s easily handled!” Gu Qing lowered his eyelids and said, ”Before the ’夺尊’ mission is executed, the old butler of the elder will personally come forward with the elder’s blood for testing. Now, Longxing Country has just introduced DNA testing methods, allowing blood tests to confirm Li Yan’s identity. The blood has already been taken, and once the test results are out, he can rightfully return to the Li Family.”

No wonder, despite Li Yan holding a high position and being fully capable of executing the mission, he hasn’t started yet.

”And what about Li Yan’s past experiences?”

Gu Tong was puzzled about how the Academy arranged everything, so she needed to ask again.

If she remembered correctly, when Gong Chenli announced Li Yan’s identity, he claimed he had returned from overseas.

”Originally, we said the elder had hidden Li Yan in Xinyuan, later changing the story to having him return from overseas. However, that identity couldn’t withstand scrutiny and wouldn’t hold for long! Gong Qingwan is not easily fooled and has already completely exposed it!”

Gu Qing furrowed his brow and added, ”After discussing with Li Yan, we decided to go with the original identity! We claimed that Li Quan entrusted his child to the elder, revealing everything! This identity is genuine and impossible to trace. Plus, with the elder’s DNA proof, there’s no need to worry about other issues!”

This indeed seems to be the best idea for now; mixing truth with falsehood renders it hard to guess. Plus, with the Academy’s tight security and the ’夺尊’ mission being top secret, even someone as resourceful as Gong Qingwan couldn’t uncover the truth.

”Revealing Li Yan’s identity also serves as a form of protection!”

The Devil King’s reputation is well-known; if the Li Family truly wanted to act against him, they must consider the Academy’s influence.

Gu Tong sighed softly, but couldn’t help recalling things from her past life, and said, ”Originally, you didn’t plan to reveal it; why change your decision now?”

She remembered that in her past life, Li Yan’s identity wasn’t revealed; this sudden change in this lifetime left Gu Tong bewildered.
