Chapter 152: After modification: Chapter 142 Trade

Dar es Salaam Port.

Slave trade market.

”These natives are entrusted to you, Mr. Abulage. Happy cooperation.” The staff handed over a batch of slaves to the Zanzibar slave trader.

”Of course, my friend, good luck.” Abulage said.

Then instructed his subordinates to put chains on these natives, and thus another team of slaves left East Africa.

Abulage is a long-term partner of the East Africa colonies, his father was a minister of the Sultanate of Zanzibar.

The long procession slowly moved towards the dock under the supervision of the enforcers.

”Livestock! Don’t look back anymore, from today onwards, you will never go back! Give up this idea.”

The Zanzibar people verbally attacked these natives using Swahili.

It’s used to quench the last hope in these slaves’ hearts, a procedure in the slave trade.

Becoming a slave is not terrifying to Black people, because they themselves were in the tribal era, native African tribes fought against each other, and it was normal for the defeated to become slaves.

During the tribal era, every tribe would capture people from opposing tribes, turning them into slaves, or be captured by opposing tribes and become slaves.

In other words, slavery on the African continent is a commonplace thing, so the natives wouldn’t be too panic-stricken after becoming slaves because that’s how their worldview is—losers become slaves.

Moreover, being a slave in the East African colonies is even considered good by some natives!

This is not nonsense, under the discipline of work in the East African colonies, these native slaves actually live pretty well, though the days are tiring, the food supply is stable every day.

And these natives, when in the tribe, knew how their tribe treated slaves, beating and scolding was routine, engaging in heavy physical labor was common, being maimed was no surprise, when food was scarce...

Compared to their tribe’s methods, the conduct of the East African colonies was akin to Living Yama on earth.

Therefore, the natives were not very afraid of becoming slaves, but they feared the ships on the sea.

Because they also know once onboard the big ship, they’d forever leave this land, probably never to return!

Experienced Zanzibar slave traders naturally had to dispel the natives’ ”nostalgia,” otherwise, these native slaves might riot once aboard.

There’s no more convenient and effective way than beating and scolding to divert these natives’ attention.

The method of Zanzibar people was very effective, these slaves’ attention was quickly dispersed by whipping and cursing, coupled with prior education in the East African colonies, soon they became obedient.

”Separate the cargo and these slaves, don’t let these natives mess things up, and place them high up to prevent goods getting damp! If you let any damage happen to my cargo, I’ll make sure you suffer.” Abulage told his men.

”Yes, sir.” The subordinates replied respectfully.

More and more slave traders now are adopting mixed loading of people and cargo, bringing slaves and goods to the Middle East for sale.

In recent years, the situation has become tight, slave trade is increasingly challenging, for Zanzibar people, those Europeans are truly sticking their noses in other people’s business.

You were the most enthusiastic in slave trading back then, now after amassing wealth, you come to ruin our livelihood!

Zanzibar people and Arabs refer to the British and French countries, now with the prevailing anti-slavery sentiment, some ships have already been detained.

If Europeans are really so kind-hearted, Abulage would eat shit upside down, as someone seasoned in navigating the seas, Abulage knows, in this era, those navigating the seas are Living Yamas; there are no good players, saints have long been fed to sharks.

These European bastards, now not needing slaves, start acting morally superior, playing moral coercion, truly disgusting.

People influenced by Arabian culture are most often interacting with the West, two religions have been fighting for thousands of years, who doesn’t understand whom?

Only now that Arabs have declined, do these Europeans dare to lord over us.

Circumstances are stronger than people, Arabs are indeed faltering, lacking strength, naturally lacking confidence, but Zanzibar people and other Arab merchants naturally will not sit idle, they’re beginning to transform and upgrade, of course, abandoning the slavery trade is impossible.

Illegal slave transport ships, after some packaging, transformed into labor import ships, slaves also became legally recruited workers.

And to prevent Europeans from clinging on, slave traders would also reduce the number of slaves on board, so there’s no overload problem, at least not evident externally.

However, to earn more, many merchants began using the space originally for transporting slaves to load goods.

This is also influenced by the East African colonies, with the Heixinggen Consortium transporting goods to Arab areas, mostly passing through the Mediterranean line, from factories within the Austria-Hungary Empire, via ports around the Adriatic Sea, straight to countries like the Ottomans. But some do also flow into East Africa.

These industrial goods are of great value to Zanzibar people, mainly because they don’t require payment! Goods from East Africa are clearly priced too, but they can be exchanged with women.

Except for Black people, they take all types, as long as they’re not too old, then it’s easy, after all, Zanzibar people are not solely running the Middle East route, they also go to India and Southeast Asia.

In this era, the destitute masses in colonized regions truly have heartbreaking sagas, originally oppressed by local authorities, now with colonizers coming, there’s an additional group of vampires.

Southeast Asia is where Dutch and Portuguese forces developed colonies for two or three hundred years; why Southeast Asia can become excellent colonies is due to the large local population, early development, after all, civilizations exist, unlike Africa and the Americas, before Europeans arrived, Native Americans were still playing with stones, Africa...

Moreover, Southeast Asia, especially those southern islands, many are Arab countries (Indonesia), it’s not uncommon for Arab merchants to trade and communicate locally.

Thus, the channels for Zanzibar people are quite diverse, as long as local nobles are bought, they basically pull as much as they can, anyways there’s no such thing as human rights in colonies.

These nobles are often proxies of European colonizers, European countries colonizing locally can’t do without their help, used mainly for ruling and suppressing the lower class, don’t expect them to have any integrity in interests.

Exactly, as the local ringleaders, they commit all evil, colonies barely have enough to eat among the bottom tier, economic conditions at the lower tier are naturally very poor.

When those at the bottom are barely hanging on, when there’s still a breath, they begin to fear, because colonizers and local nobles can truly decide life and death with one word, but none wants to be a scapegoat because they now can ”survive.”

For survival, ethics, morality, good qualities don’t compare to the practicality of a meal, hence Zanzibar merchants often buy population from these areas using just a meal or two.

Anyways merchants profit from the margin, ultimately the money is paid by the East African colonies.
