High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 496: Chapter 165: Questions from the Intern Journalist_1

Zheng Qing felt that he should seize the opportunity to seriously thank Li Meng.

Because she had just interrupted to ask an extra question, the situation ultimately didn’t slide towards the worst direction that Zheng Qing had imagined.

While Su Ya was still contemplating what attitude to adopt towards him, on the stage, Su Shijun removed her glasses, drawing everyone’s attention.

...

Until today, Zheng Qing never thought ’dazzling and beautiful’ could go together.

But when he saw Su Shijun without her glasses, those two words suddenly surfaced in his mind - only those two words.

Beautifully dazzling.

Even the sunlight paled in comparison to her.

It was noontime, the time of the day when the sunlight was the most radiant. The curtains of the classroom were wide open, the soft golden sunlight fell on the desks and the floor through the window, leaving a bright spot of light.

But today, in classroom east601 of the teaching building, the most dazzling thing wasn’t the sunlight coming through the window, but the witch standing on the stage.

Under the stage, the students were repeatedly lifting and lowering their heads.

Lifting their heads because they wanted to take an extra look.

Just like an artist facing a masterpiece, a musician listening to a timeless melody, everyone has their own concept of beauty, but no matter how you look at her, Su Shijun’s looks were breathtakingly admirable, forcing one to take an extra look.

Lowering their heads because they were afraid.

Afraid that their eyes would get burnt from the beauty on stage, afraid that taking an extra look would be a sacrilege. After a sneaky glance, many students would involuntarily lower their heads, close their eyes, suppressing their inner fear and uneasiness, regretting their offense.

The little fox lady Su Ya held her head high proudly, like a prideful hen.

She delighted in seeing the look of shock, admiration, and self-derision intertwined together in the eyes of those who saw her lady.

Such eyes gave her an inexplicable sense of achievement.

However, Su Shijun crossed her arms, holding her glasses between her fingers, indifferently watching the students below her.

She had faced such eyes and the fanatical emotions brewing under those eyes countless times before.

She was as calm as an ancient well without waves.

”...It’s a bit too sudden, isn’t it?” Old Yao bit down on his pipe and laughed bitterly, ”They are still children, giving them such a big shock, it’s a bit scary...”

His voice broke the silence in the classroom, and he was immediately met with glaring eyes.

Everyone had completely forgotten Old Yao’s identity, as well as school, lessons, and everything - it seemed that being able to quietly admire that beauty was the only purpose of life.

”You said it, they want to see Su Shijun,” The voice of the witch was completely different from before, sounding exceptionally sweet.

The previously angry eyes of the students immediately softened.

This voice was like a summer drink, refreshing and immediately extinguishing the fire.

”...Being enchanted is false, being mesmerized is also false... their current state is merely a result of magic,” Su Shijun’s voice was still sweet, but she wore no expression.

”Too terrifying, too terrifying...” Old Yao exclaimed in surprise, ”Such a natural enchanting effect, I’m afraid it’s not inferior to the ancient Queen Daji, or the Saintess of Tu Mountain!”

No one dislikes flattery.

Especially flattery from a high-ranking person.

”You’re joking,” Su Shijun finally dropped her serious expression, smiled slightly, and even the sunlight outside the window seemed to have completely dimmed, ”Queen Daji and the Saintess of Tu Mountain were sacred foxes of Nine-Tail... I have just reached the state of Three-Tail, and I still have a long way to go.”

”It’s not the same, it’s not the same!” Old Yao shook his head, ”The bloodline of the ancient fox race was pure, even the newly born foxes would have three tails... The Nine-Tail of Tu Mountain was no more than the power of a grand wizard... It’s no different from your current state.”

After he finished speaking, he didn’t wait for Su Shijun to reply, he turned around and faced the people in the lecture hall.

”Snap out of it!” Old Yao clapped his hands sharply.

Zheng Qing was startled and the clarity in his eyes was instantly restored.

He looked round at those around him who were still helplessly trapped under the effect of Su Shijun’s charm, his heart was filled with fear.

If this were a battlefield, the wizards in his class would have been completely annihilated, he realized.

Thinking this, he couldn’t help but steal another glance at the witch on stage.

Perhaps it was because of the slaps Old Yao had just given, Su Shijun still looked just as beautiful, but she no longer had that mesmerizing effect on people.

Of course, even so, she was still dazzling.

Standing there, no one dared to glance at her twice.

”...On the first day of class, I mentioned that I would introduce you to Councilor Su to discuss topics that you young people are interested in.” Once everyone had woken up from the trance, Old Yao spoke leisurely, ”Now Su Councilor is here... seize the opportunity if you have any questions.”

Having said that, he turned his gaze towards Su Shijun.

Su Daxu didn’t say anything, but simply reached out and patted her maid’s head.

Upon being petted, Su Ya’s eyes instantly turned into slits from her broad smile, her tail under the skirt flicked joyously.

”Five questions!” Next to the podium, Su Ya raised her hand theatrically, gesturing to the young wizards of Astronomy Class 06-1, ”You have five chances to ask questions! My lady will answer five of your questions.”

”Can anyone ask a question?” a classmate’s inquiry rang out from a corner of the classroom.

”Anyone can ask a question!” Su Ya nodded vigorously.

”I want to ask...” A male wizard in the back row of the classroom stood up and managed to utter three syllables before the sharp gaze from Old Yao silenced him. He froze on the spot, unable to move.

”Disgraceful!” reproached the professor, ”Where are your manners? How do you want our guests to view us! Are these the students of our premier university? Is this the standard of the top class of Jiuyou Academy?”

The classroom fell silent.

After a moment of silence, several hands were raised high in unison.

Old Yao nodded with satisfaction, bit on his pipe, slowly strolled over to the window, crossed his arms, leaned against the windowsill, and looked at everyone with a gratified smile.

”...Now, I will choose who can ask questions!” Su Ya declared, as she cast a defiant glance at the publicly funded students.

Zheng Qing shrugged, his face revealing a bitter smile, but deep down he let out a sigh of relief.

No need to ask anything... he didn’t have any questions to begin with.

As long as the little fox girl didn’t yell ”he bullied me” in class, everything was negotiable, absolutely everything.

To mollify the ill feelings of the little girl was a beneficial opportunity for Zheng Qing.

”So, the first person to ask a question...” Su Ya bit her finger, her eyes darting back and forth. Looking at the forest-like raised arms in front of her, she seemed to have a hard time choosing.

But then, her eyes lit up.

”You’re the one!” She extended her hand, pointing at Xin Fat Man, complimenting, ”You did a great job just now!”

Xin Fat Man was stunned as he stood up, unsure why he had been favored by the little fox girl.

Zheng Qing sneered, but didn’t say a word.

He knew it was the little fox girl’s way of rewarding Xin Fat Man for helping him from under the desk earlier.

Although the fat man had raised his hand, he clearly did not expect to be selected, and was a bit flustered. After fumbling for a bit, he grasped a piece of paper, looked up at the podium, and summoned the courage to ask:

”Ma’am, would you mind revealing your specific age? Because when I search all the data, none is accurate... I am an intern reporter for the Campus Newspaper, and I hope to write the most accurate report for you.”

His question drew everyone’s attention to him.

Both boys and girls.

It is well known that asking a lady about her age is very offensive, especially in public.

As expected, Su Shijun’s response to this question was standard: ”It’s a secret.”

”Does that count as an answer?” Xin Fat Man muttered under his breath.

”Is that the second question?” Su Shijun countered.

”No!” Before Xin Fat Man could even open his mouth, another student hurriedly denied it.

”That’s not a question, ma’am!” another student chimed in almost in unison.

”Fatso only has one chance to ask a question, he has no questions left, ma’am!”

The students downstairs were whipped into a frenzy, their emotions running high, and it seemed they would rush up and beat the fat man severely if a word was to be spoken in disagreement.

Xin Fat Man shrunk his head, looked downcast, and slumped onto the table.
