My Living Shadow System Devours To Make Me Stronger

The Unknown God glanced at him.

Then he smiled in amusement.

”You didn’t make a choice. Fine, then. I shall help you make one right after I’ve dealt with Doom.”

”Don’t be so convinced,” Doom replied. ”I have lived through many of your lifetimes.”

”Then I shall feel bad beating an old woman.”

The Unknown God raised a finger.

”Of your authorities, the one I choose for you to enter this battle with is the Authority: Bride of the Demongod.”

Doom’s expression did not change.

Instead, she merely pointed at him.

”I knew you would do that. It is commonly known that I don’t use that authority. After all, it is the one authority that connects me to you, an authority that allows me to use any single one of your authorities at a time.”

Then she smiled coldly.

”Your assumption that I wouldn’t use it is completely wrong. Maybe in the past, but I no longer hold resentment against you.”

Her aura changed.

”I shall now use your own authorities to crush you.”

The Unknown God’s lips seemed to twitch.

Damon realized something.

It seemed this so-called God had miscalculated.

So this was what happened when he was up against someone equal to him.

Then again...

The Unknown God was not a stranger to failure.

Doom wasn’t finished.

She continued with coldness in her eyes.

”Of your authorities, the one I choose for you to go into battle with is...”

”You’re going to choose between Dream Maker and Boundary Maker, aren’t you?”

The Unknown God interrupted her.

”I’m sure you are aware they don’t have the best combat applications against you, especially since you’ve limited me to the limit of this world.”

Doom glanced at him.

”Why would I let you use Dream Maker and grant you absolute freedom to imagine whatever horror or scenario you want and make it our reality?”

Her gaze hardened.

”I choose Boundary Maker.”

”Shall we begin?”

As soon as the Unknown God said that, Damon flashed behind him.

He stabbed toward his neck with a broken black sword carrying all of his killing intent.

The Unknown God easily caught the blade with one finger.

At the same time, Doom attacked him.

Space itself aligned and misaligned as countless dimensions of reality came crashing down.

The Unknown God did not move.

Neither did Damon.

The Unknown God had shielded himself from the attack, protecting Damon in the process.

”I may be in the same rank as you, but my power is far beyond your level. I have achieved a comprehension of things you can’t even imagine.”

Then the Unknown God looked toward Damon.

”However, I will make you a deal if you are willing to accept.”

”Go to hell!” Damon screamed.

”You should hear me out before you turn me down. Don’t you know that’s rude?”

Damon was suddenly pressed down by an invisible barrier.

It wasn’t magic.

It was simply a barrier forged from something he could not sense.

Around them, countless attacks were exchanged between Doom and the Unknown God within those few moments.

”You already have a quest to find the Pillar of Conflict. Do not forget, it is a chain quest. If you bring me the Pillar, I will reward you by saving your sister’s vessel from Doom.”

The Unknown God turned to look at him.

”I am not your enemy.”

”You are my enemy,” Damon replied.

”No. I’m not your enemy.”

The Unknown God smiled.

”I am the enemy.”

”Of course, this is your choice after all.”

His smile widened.

”I am a God of Choice.”

Damon was quiet for a moment.

There was no winning this.

He already knew that.

For all he knew, even if he brought his sister back, she would still hate him.

”I’ll kill you.”

That was what Damon decided.

That was his choice.

”Ashcroft.”

Damon looked into the darkness.

”If I get the Pillar of Conflict, can I use it as a weapon to kill a God trapped in a mortal vessel?”

There was no reply.

Damon’s eyes widened.

Then he realized Ashcroft was gone.

Actually...

It wasn’t just Ashcroft.

He couldn’t feel a connection to his Shadow Clone either.

”Yes, you can, if we’re going by the rules Doom set.”

The voice came from behind him.

Damon turned.

Ashcroft stood there.

He was wearing Damon’s face, but two long horns protruded from his head, and wide demon wings stretched from his back.

”Yo...”

Damon stared at him.

”I see. So you took this chance to take my body. Let me guess. You’ve come to kill me too.”

”You’re not far from the truth.”

Ashcroft raised his sword.

”You see, I have a personal grudge to settle, and there is no time like the present.”

Damon stared at him.

Ashcroft’s expression changed.

”Sadly, it’s not against you.”

Damon’s eyes widened slightly.

He took a deep breath.

”I hate to break it to you, but right now the world has declared you enemy number one. You were too busy here with the Unknown God to notice, but you have lost everything.”

Ashcroft lowered his sword.

”And I’d rather not kick a dead dog.”

”Today is as good a day as any to kill a God.”

Ashcroft reached out his hand toward Damon.

”What say you, usurper?”

Damon stared at the hand.

A tear slipped from his eye before he even realized it had fallen.

Who would have thought that the person who would encourage him in the face of despair would be the Demon Lord of Domination?

”On your feet, soldier.”

Ashcroft grinned.

”Let’s go out there, guns blazing.”

Damon took Ashcroft’s hand.

Then he turned to look at the battle between Doom and the Unknown God.

Neither of them was moving.

Yet Damon could feel the ripples in the air.

He could see the color of the world changing around them.

Damon took a step forward with Ashcroft by his side.

When he took another step, the world changed.

He found himself back on the battlefield.

He hadn’t even realized that the Unknown God had isolated the space around them.

The first person Damon saw was Xander.

He stood there with his spear in hand, killing intent radiating from his body.

”Damon Grey!”

Damon instantly felt most of his power drain.

”Do you want me to take this? You are a bad matchup for him,” Ashcroft said calmly.

Damon shook his head.

”No.”

He stepped forward.

”I’m done running.”

He raised his blood-covered face and stared directly at Xander Ravenscroft.

Then he stepped forward to face him.
