My Living Shadow System Devours To Make Me Stronger

Chapter 973: Chapter 974: Moon Above the Glades.

A violent surge of magic ignited the air.

Seals bloomed into existence one after another, layering over the sky as the elves moved in perfect coordination.

Barriers formed.

Wove.

Closed in.

Reality itself warped as the great dragon was encased within their formation.

Rexagon opened his massive maw.

Blue lava erupted forth, carrying with it toxic, rotting fumes. The world trembled under the force of his breath as it crashed against the enclosing barriers.

A deafening rumble spread in all directions.

The four elves rose higher into the sky, the Moon Disc blazing at their center. A spinning vortex formed, grinding against the dragon’s attack until it shattered it apart.

The aftermath was chaos.

Fragments of molten lava scattered like a storm.

They rained down in blazing arcs toward the city below.

On the battlements, soldiers scattered in panic.

Some leapt.

Some screamed.

Some were too slow.

Lava struck the walls, splashing and burning. Sections of the defenses glowed white under stress before erupting into violent explosions. Stone shattered. Magic detonated. Soldiers were thrown into the air like broken dolls.

From above, it looked like meteors had fallen upon the city.

And this…

This was only the aftermath of blocking his breath.

If that attack had landed directly—

The city would have been erased.

Kadelas’ expression darkened.

His gaze turned colder than ice.

That damned Damon Grey.

How…?

How did he provoke a dragon into attacking the Moonglades?

What kind of twisted method had he used?

“I’ll deal with him later,” Kadelas thought, unease creeping into his mind.

He had underestimated Damon.

Severely.

The six elves in the sky shifted positions, forming a wide circle around Rexagon.

Their hands rose in unison.

A massive formation began to take shape.

Sweat dripped from their brows as they channeled immense power into it.

The old man from the Halls of Steel stepped forward.

He raised his hand.

Two twin blades materialized beside him, shimmering with silver light.

Then—

He slashed.

Two massive arcs of energy, each as large as Rexagon himself, tore through the sky in a crisscross pattern.

Rexagon reacted instantly.

He swung his massive head.

His horns collided with the slashes.

A catastrophic explosion erupted.

The sound of grinding force echoed as energy scraped against scale, sending showers of sparks across the sky.

“RAAAWWGGHHHH!”

Rexagon roared.

Fury consumed him.

Flames burst from his body.

Cracks split across his scales as molten lava seeped out, dripping and burning the air itself.

Below, Queen Daphne raised her hand.

Moonlight surged.

Beams of pale radiance shot upward, striking the dragon’s massive form.

All along the battlements, artillery formations activated.

They mimicked her spell.

Dozens—

Hundreds—

Of beams fired in unison.

Each impact dimmed the intensity of Rexagon’s flames, suppressing the inferno consuming him.

The elves in the sky did not stop moving.

They circled him constantly.

Attacking.

Retreating.

Never getting close.

They struck from a distance, wearing him down.

Rexagon’s eyes burned.

Twin suns blazing in the heavens.

“Die… die… DIE!”

His roar shattered the sky.

A massive ring of fire exploded outward from his body.

The blast tore through the air.

It struck the elves mid-flight.

They were sent crashing down in all directions, their bodies slamming into the earth below.

One of the older elves staggered to his feet.

He coughed violently, blood spilling from his lips as he wiped it away.

Not far from him—

Another.

One of the four who had controlled the Moon Disc.

His chest was torn open.

Ribs exposed.

His heart visible beneath blood-soaked robes.

His eyes trembled with the raw edge of death.

Then—

He smiled.

“Truly… great dragons are terrible beings…”

His voice was quiet.

Almost reverent.

He pushed himself up from the crater beneath him, rising amid burning trees and shattered earth.

This was only one dragon.

And already—

They were at such a disadvantage.

One of the elders pushed himself out from the broken trunk he had crashed into.

His face was torn open, blood running down his jaw. The flesh began to move under a faint glow as the formation’s magic stitched him back together.

He spat out a mouthful of blood and steadied his breath.

“That could have killed us.”

His voice was low and strained.

“I suppose centuries of dealing with Ashergon forced us to improve. Anti-dragon magic has come a long way.”

Above them, the old man from the Halls of Steel hovered in the air. His robes fluttered from the heat rising below. A faint smile rested on his lips, but his eyes were sharp and focused.

“I have not felt this much pressure since we fought Demon Lord Baal.”

Kadelas rose into the air and reached for the Moon Disc.

The moment his hand touched it, a cool light spread across his body. The artifact responded to him, its glow dimming slightly as it synchronized with his aura.

“Then let us make sure it does not end the same way.”

His voice was calm, but his grip tightened.

“From the perimeter, I will deploy a domain.”

His expression hardened.

This was not ideal.

The Moon Disc was one of the Moonglades’ greatest treasures. It was meant for the demon war, not to be wasted here.

Yet he had no choice.

’Damon Grey.’

The name lingered in his mind.

’I will make you pay for this.’

Damon had wealth, influence, and the backing of L.a.z.a.r.a.k. Even if he demanded compensation, the man would likely pay without hesitation.

That did not matter now.

Survival came first.

Kadelas moved forward and stopped in front of Rexagon.

The heat from the dragon’s body pressed against him, but he did not retreat.

“Great one.”

His voice carried clearly.

“We of the Moonglades are neither cowards nor lowly beings.”

The air trembled under the dragon’s presence.

“I understand your anger is directed at Damon.”

He paused briefly.

“But he is human.”

His gaze sharpened.

“If he were truly my son, would he not be an elf?”

Rexagon’s eyes burned brighter.

The words reached him, but they did not matter.

These beings had dared to fight him. They had drawn blood.

To retreat now would mean admitting he had been deceived again.

A dragon could not accept that.

His jaws opened slowly.

A deep glow formed within his throat as destructive power gathered.

The air grew heavy.

Kadelas exhaled softly.

“Pointless.”

His eyes turned cold.

“Dragons are far too stubborn.”

He raised his hand toward the sky.

The surrounding space grew still as magic gathered.

“Domain: Moon Above the Glades.”

The world began to change.
