Eldritch Horror Theatre

Excellent. Let the trio act begin.

Facing the hyper-alert Harbinger, Fu Qian handed over the pen just like that—and the man actually took it.

This trio act was escalating so rapidly it seemed impossible to stop.

The Harbinger’s subsequent reaction, however, proved he had indeed kept pace with the rhythm. Was there really any need to drag this out?

Why else invite him in here?

And why else would he risk coming in here to accept it?

With everyone this entrenched in their views, how much meaning was left in talk therapy?

The core of this meeting was actually very simple: use the True Word Notebook to utterly shatter someone’s will.

Under these circumstances, Fu Qian handing over the pen and paper directly as the ”Attending Physician’s accomplice” actually counted as the approach that provoked the least resistance.

This didn’t mean he now looked perfectly objective, sweeping away the persona the Harbinger had overheard earlier. But it at least proved he wasn’t here to smooth things over. Instead, he was actively pushing the core agenda—someone had to ”die” today.

Meanwhile, the Harbinger reacted exactly as expected, not shying away from this sudden battle to the death thrown right in his face.

It made perfect sense. As analyzed earlier, no matter how lofty a posture he assumed, his situation was bordering on hopeless.

He was facing an invincible opponent who suppressed him in every possible way.

Everything he had done so far was just a bitter struggle to delay facing reality.

As for the intruders he had driven here, they were essentially just expendables to help him buy that time.

Given that, and without knowing when the next intruder might arrive, decisively seizing any chance at survival was the most normal choice he could make.

Even his opponent had agreed to it.

After the initial shock wore off, Servis raised no objections. He even nudged the True Word Notebook forward, proving he also understood Fu Qian’s intentions.

Just like that, the final course of treatment directly began.

Though strangely enough, the patient seemed far more focused on the assistant’s opinion than the Attending Physician’s.

Faced with Fu Qian’s casual offer of advice, the Harbinger’s reaction was to tell him to just keep giving it.

It was a brilliant retort, akin to asking the very person you were complaining about for the complaints hotline.

”Rumor has it you firmly believe your prophecies are real.”

Unfortunately, Fu Qian’s expression didn’t even twitch. He looked as though merely refraining from assaulting a customer was already a profound exercise in restraint.

”From what I understand, this notebook only accepts things you believe with absolute certainty. If they’re false, the writing will automatically disappear.”

And clearly, he wasn’t just bluffing. Fu Qian already had the entire plan mapped out in his head and offered his advice without a second of hesitation.

”Since that’s the case, why don’t you just write your prophecy down directly?

”This place is currently isolated from the outside world. The Attending Physician is also right here, which minimizes any external interference to the greatest extent.”

...

Write a prophecy in the True Word Notebook?

At this moment, the sheer power of imagination was once again on full display.

In the face of Fu Qian’s suggestion, the office once again plunged into silence.

The Harbinger’s question was undoubtedly needles hidden in cotton, tossing the most difficult part of the problem right back onto Fu Qian.

Everyone knew the core of today’s meeting was using the True Word Notebook, but the key question was how to use it—especially from the Harbinger’s perspective.

He was clearly aware of the True Word Notebook’s nature as well, so in theory, it was incredibly simple: he just needed to write on it to validate his own issue.

For example, the most direct approach would be to simply write [The Harbinger’s prophetic abilities are real] and see if it vanished.

But as stated earlier, relying solely on that actually wouldn’t be enough.

On top of confirming the notebook’s supernatural effects, you still needed to prove there was no malicious manipulation behind it. Otherwise, it would fall far short of shattering the Harbinger’s Dao heart.

Not to mention that the Harbinger was going alone to a dangerous meeting this time. Theoretically, he was playing a much larger game, aiming to shatter Servis’s Dao heart in reverse.

In contrast, the latter was much more composed. Judging by his displayed demeanor, he had absolutely no intention of stopping the Harbinger from writing anything in the notebook.

Ultimately, exactly how the Harbinger should put pen to paper was truly a question worth deep consideration.

And as the person involved, he thereby showed just how difficult he was to deal with, actually kicking the problem straight back.

...

A medical assistant, are you? Keeping an ambiguous attitude? Letting me freely write my opinions?

Then let me ask you: how do you think I should write it?

Come on, show us. Whose side are you really on?

The Harbinger’s counterattack was undeniably sharp, backing Fu Qian directly into a corner.

From here on out, whatever advice he gave—or even if he gave none at all—would be intensely scrutinized from every angle by the other two. Remaining ambiguous was no longer an option.

Too bad this guy still knew far too little about what it meant to be an expert.

Fu Qian wasn’t the least bit displeased by this somewhat pointed retort.

On the contrary, he was deeply satisfied that the other party was willing to consult his opinion right out of the gate.

Empathy wasn’t just lip service, and the Harbinger hadn’t come here just to hurl insults.

Regardless of his attitude, his core intent was still to genuinely find a method.

How to use the True Word Notebook really was a problem.

Directly verifying his own prophetic abilities was something the Harbinger would absolutely refuse to do.

Yet his abilities had to be verified, because that was today’s sole core objective.

So what exactly should be done? The answer was glaringly obvious: verify the prophetic abilities less directly.

Only you know what you have prophesied; you can write your book of prophecy right here on the spot.

During this process, you will have plenty of opportunities for covert manipulation, allowing you to test and even steer the reactions of your two audience members.

It will even serve to perfectly test whether you truly have faith in your own prophetic abilities.

Perhaps someone might ask: how could the True Word Notebook pass judgment on something that hadn’t happened yet, no matter how firmly one believed in it?

That was exactly why Fu Qian had emphasized that the Black Box was bidirectional.

At this moment, the trio was cut off from the outside world to a certain extent. Theoretically, it could be said they had no way of knowing what was happening out there.

Therefore, what you wrote down didn’t have to be something that was about to happen; it could be something you had prophesied earlier that was happening right now.

It was merely a matter of exploiting the time difference, even giving the Harbinger more time to review the situation. What conditions could possibly be more generous than this?

”That sounds like... a fairly good suggestion indeed.”

Even the person involved had acknowledged it.

After holding the pen in hesitation for a fairly long time, the Harbinger let out a long breath. His already narrow eyes narrowed into slits in that moment as he stared at the opened True Word Notebook.

[Today is the 54th]

He didn’t even need any more time to prepare. The moment after his praise, he directly brought the pen down and wrote his first line on a new page.

Even though this content... seemed a bit too ordinary?
