Eldritch Horror Theatre

The Path to Kingship was a long and arduous one.

Even as the theoretical next family head, Classmate Liushuang remained far too distant from that position.

Although she had yet to meet the regent who helped her mother manage affairs, in this day and age, any High-Tier Transcendent would remain in their prime for a very long time.

And his attitude toward the next family head was bound to be ambiguous.

The Gospel Team’s gains essentially allowed Classmate Liushuang to truly secure her footing, cementing her own place in the distribution of power and exempting her from most risks of an untimely death.

To actually try and take back what supposedly ”belonged to her” would simply be overthinking it.

This was why she had just sighed, knowing her own opinions might not carry much weight.

And it was why Fu Qian had reminded her that staying out of it was likely the optimal choice.

From the perspective of purely personal interest, if the Ji Clan really marched straight into a trap, it would actually serve as a massive opportunity for Classmate Liushuang’s Path to Kingship.

If the Night Watchers killed the current family head in a fit of rage, everything would be much simpler.Unfortunately, Classmate Liushuang’s desire for power really wasn’t that strong. With the Gospel Team serving as a safety net to ensure her mother’s safety, her career ambitions had already faded considerably.

Rather than taking control of a crippled top-tier conglomerate, she leaned toward giving them an early warning.

Fu Qian clearly respected this choice and had no intention of persuading her otherwise.

One had to be brave enough to let young people make their own decisions. The purpose of a group meeting was never to ensure the leader’s will was executed meticulously, but to strategize for the young’s wild ideas.

For instance, even with Classmate Liushuang’s highly idealized thoughts, he still offered a reference solution—the Rebirth Club.

If the claim of being the next family head wasn’t enough, didn’t she still have her identity as the Saintess of the Rebirth Club?

As an organization that had recently risen to prominence, especially after displaying immense power at Silver Mist Manor, it was undoubtedly a weighty external factor.

”I understand... but there still seems to be an issue here. The role the Rebirth Club is playing in this conflict appears somewhat ambiguous to begin with.”

Classmate Liushuang immediately fell into deep thought, though when she spoke again, she was not blindly optimistic.

Moreover, even with Wen Li right beside her, she didn’t shy away from mentioning the Rebirth Club. It was as if whoever Professor Fu trusted, she trusted as well.

...

Excellent.

Fu Qian felt no displeasure at Classmate Liushuang’s words. Instead, he deeply felt that their group meetings were increasingly getting on the right track.

Her concerns were not unfounded. Her identity as the Rebirth Club’s Saintess had indeed earned her extra attention within the Ji Clan, but the organization’s true nature remained somewhat ambiguous.

Even in the current conflict, one could say they played a crucial role.

For example, the initial catalyst—the intelligence regarding Emperor Yasui—was shared by The Club to the Ji Clan, who then passed it on to Siren.

Emphasizing her identity as the Rebirth Club’s Saintess now would certainly add weight to her words, but from the Ji Clan’s perspective, it would inevitably cause them to start Overthinking.

”You’re right. The Rebirth Club’s role in this whole affair is indeed ambiguous and easily leads to Overthinking.”

Despite acknowledging her concerns, Fu Qian merely looked at Classmate Liushuang and repeated the premise. He agreed with her but offered no further advice.

”I understand. That is exactly what they want...”

Good students truly had high comprehension. Faced with Professor Fu’s hands-off approach, Classmate Liushuang instantly understood.

”Whether they believe it or not, my statement will represent the Rebirth Club’s stance, and that will serve as an important reference.”

Even though her words were filled with the exhausting calculation of pros and cons, Ji Liushuang’s gaze remained clear. She obviously still wanted to stick to her original plan.

What was even more gratifying was that this plan seemed likely to achieve better results than imagined.

The Ji Clan clearly held a very particular view of the Rebirth Club.

On one hand, they couldn’t figure out why the next family head suddenly had ties to that background. On the other hand, there was a direct conflict of interest—the aforementioned catalyst for the clash.

What if the Rebirth Club’s goal was exactly for the Ji Clan to fully participate?

Such a concern was guaranteed to exist, and it could easily devolve into a deeply layered psychological game.

So even if the next family head stated her opposition to full participation, it would inevitably spark all sorts of interpretations. Not many would actually believe it came from the heart.

But that passive stance alone was enough. In the end, it was a message meant to pump the brakes.

After a round of tangled psychological warfare, there was a high probability it would still throw cold water on the situation.

”I will provide my feedback as soon as possible. If necessary, I’ll make a special trip back and visit my mother while I’m at it.”

Having quickly made up her mind, Classmate Liushuang was already planning her itinerary.

Ji Xue?

Speaking of which, he had only heard the name and had yet to meet the person.

Her words easily reminded Fu Qian of the ”last words” inside the Angel of Comfort, as well as the young mother wandering through the woods mentioned by the deceased brother.

Though compared to that eldest princess of the Ji Clan, Fu Qian was far more interested in the location of that walk.

The Flowing Frost Flower that only bloomed at night, white as frost beneath the moonlight...

Because of the Full Moon Garden, such a scene truly made one yearn to see it.

”As you should. Also, by my estimation, the Rebirth Club might make another move soon.”

Fu Qian nodded, tossing in a casual reminder.

He was, of course, referring to the Greed Worm’s group.

During their last trip to Moore, after successfully finding the Ancient Angel, Old Man Laurie had even asked how to join the Rebirth Club to get closer to the holy decree.

The answer they received was that as long as they roleplayed as the Rebirth Club, The Club would naturally come knocking.

Considering the urgency they had just confirmed, they wouldn’t be able to hold back for long, which would perfectly align with Classmate Liushuang’s side of things.

...

Whether it was a person or an organization, making one’s presence felt was very important.

It had been a while since Old Man Lu’s last visit to support the next family head. It was time for the Ji Clan to once again experience the Rebirth Club’s utterly unfathomable corporate culture.

”That’s wonderful... I’ll take advantage of that depending on the situation.”

Although Professor Fu had spoken rather conservatively, Classmate Liushuang clearly had immense confidence in his words. Pleasant surprise immediately crossed her face, and she didn’t even ask why he had made such an assessment.

This was how it should be. Young people were the protagonists.

An old professor didn’t need to talk too much; he just needed to play the role of a facilitator properly, offering a little life experience as reference when necessary.

Fu Qian was very satisfied that Classmate Liushuang had successfully cleared her thoughts on her assigned subject.

”How are things on your end? Have you found any leads on continuing your advancement?”

However, he didn’t say much more. The next moment, he turned to Wen Li, who had been listening from the side.
