Eldritch Horror Theatre

A connection on a purely conceptual level, akin to sharing the surname Mei, rather than a sense of subordination like being someone’s symbol.

He had to admit, Master Yuhun’s Transcendence was quite thorough.

Carefully evaluating the gains he had made while pushing forward, Fu Qian couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.

The last time he established a connection through the Burial Scroll and his inner demon, he had been somewhat worried about the latter’s overly Transcendent posture. Now, it seemed his worries had become reality.

Just counting the alternate personas of Master Yuhun that he had seen himself, there were at least five. In theory, if the other party was completely defeated, they should all be his spoils of war.

Yet he had found no signs of them at the time. The feeling he was experiencing right now made it seem even more likely that Master Yuhun had realized his past mistakes during his Transcendence and completely discarded those many obsessions.

That was right. Through his own guidance, he had made Him completely realize that form is emptiness, ultimately proving and attaining the Dao fruit. However, in that process, He had also thrown away all the good things that should have belonged to Fu Qian.

Actually, ”thrown away” wasn’t quite accurate; ”forgotten” was a more fitting description.

Melia and those other alternate personas had still been digested.

It was just that for both Master Yuhun and himself, they were like forgotten events of the past.He couldn’t recall them no matter how hard he tried; he could only test them passively like this.

Of course, another possibility couldn’t be ruled out: due to the characteristics of the Record of Recollection, this alternate persona named Melia had been sealed inside it to a certain extent, leading to the current situation.

But honestly, given how many years Yuhun had been around, it was hard to imagine that He had only harvested those five alternate personas.

Considering that up until now, neither Melia and the other four, nor any other legacies had been found at all, he could only say this possibility was relatively low.

All in all, right now, he couldn’t adopt Melia’s lofty perspective to easily observe and examine his surroundings to draw a conclusion.

He could only test and deduce from an objective angle—excellent, exactly what an academic should do.

”The snow can stop now.”

Grasping that connection, Fu Qian spoke without emotion.

”Uh... alright.”

Boyd froze for a moment but immediately agreed, having no objections to this rapid flip-flopping command.

Wait, it has already stopped—

However, just as he was about to move, he was stunned again the very next moment. He reached out to try and catch the snow, but there was no longer any invisible chill.

Those words hadn’t been directed at him, but at the space in front of them...

Suddenly realizing that Professor Fu had casually snuffed out the invisible snow, the already shocked crowd seemed to hold their breath even more.

...

It truly had been casually snuffed out.

Under the special perspective of Chan, everything became abstract.

So much so that the Miracle lacking materials wasn’t that difficult for Fu Qian to grasp.

Thus, when he spoke just now, he casually displayed the power to command the wind and rain.

As for his purpose in doing this, it naturally wasn’t just to scare people.

This Miracle had already made its contribution. Not only had it proven the existence of a certain special effect, but it had even helped dye the Snow Tree Leaves white, making it easier for them to connect with the concept of Melia.

Now, canceling it to see if this sudden change would trigger anything would be its third contribution—and it seemed to actually have some effect.

The mystical snow came to an abrupt halt, and in the abstract scene before him, a portion of the content instantly vanished.

However, the ensuing subtle turbulence faintly established a connection between the Snow Tree Leaves in his hand and ”this room.”

Was it truly the Land of Melia’s Kin?

Fu Qian naturally grasped this point in an instant, matching it with his previous investigative findings and the information Master Yuhun had personally shared.

When telling him that Melia did not exist, Yuhun had personally said that this place, the Academy, possessed the essential attribute of being the ”Land of Melia’s Kin.”

And now, aside from himself and the Snow Tree Leaves, ”this room” had genuinely joined in, forming the Melia Conceptual Sector.

Of course, that was only the good news. There was also bad news—even so, he still found no trace of Professor Ah Kai.

...

Wasn’t this far too well-hidden? It looked as if he had evaporated completely.

His original line of thought was that Ah Kai might have been testing a Miracle related to Melia, and something had gone wrong.

And by utilizing the essence of being Melia to enter his current state, he could try to establish some connections to confirm Ah Kai’s whereabouts.

Did the current situation mean his previous deduction was wrong? Or even if it was right, was the man already beyond saving?

No, there was no rush to make such a conclusion just yet.

Blind pessimism and blind optimism were equally foolish behaviors.

For example, the simplest possible influencing factor had not yet been ruled out.

That was his own lack of Transcendent Perception, which meant he could only see the room in front of him within the entire ”Land of Melia’s Kin.”

At the very least, he should walk through the entire courtyard once before confirming that pessimistic conclusion.

Furthermore, considering the Burial Scroll’s duration wasn’t long, it was best to start quickly—but Fu Qian didn’t start. Instead, he silently raised his Rank.

Field of vision was only one influencing factor. Apart from that, was it possible that his Rank as Melia simply wasn’t high enough?

This was undoubtedly another variable worth testing—wait, it was gone?

However, a moment later, an astonishing change occurred.

Not only did he fail to discover anything more, but Fu Qian realized that as his Rank increased, he had actually dropped out of the Melia Conceptual Sector.

...

There was actually such a thing?

Scientific exploration always brought surprises. At first glance, this sudden change truly defied common sense.

Had he lost his identity as Melia?

So the reason was...

Even though the Burial Scroll’s duration was rapidly decreasing, at that moment, Fu Qian didn’t rush to drop back to Tier 2; instead, he silently felt it out.

He had long noted that up until now, Melia was almost the strangest Ancient Higher Being he had encountered. The probability of anomalies occurring regarding anything related to Him was naturally high.

In fact, another purpose of this attempt was to take the opportunity to pry into His secrets.

Now, to maintain logical thinking: why did the Melia attribute seem to disappear after ranking up? Because a Melia higher than Tier 2 did not exist.

After a moment, Fu Qian exhaled a long breath, arriving at a bizarre conclusion.

But regardless, this reverse-engineered conclusion could directly and bluntly explain the change before him.

As for why an Ancient Higher Being would lack a state higher than Tier 2?

It was indeed baffling, but thinking carefully, it seemed to correspond with the situation Master Yuhun had mentioned back then.

He had gone to ancient times, but Melia was not there.

In fact, throughout the entire process of dealing with him, Master Yuhun in his Melia alternate persona truly had never displayed a state higher than Tier 2.
