An abrupt visit, a bizarre conversation.

Combined with Su Gao’s unforgettable face and black attire that seemed to melt into the night, the pre-dawn atmosphere was truly overwhelming.

Professor Lisa, who had just provided important information and was seeking feedback, forgot to even take the Crown off her head. She just stared blankly at that face, and at the Curved Sword the woman held in her hand.

She couldn’t sense much from the woman, but that was exactly the problem.

As a Tier 4 Transcendent, Professor Lisa had always been quite confident in her own judgment.

Yet not only had she failed to notice someone approaching, but even now, with the other party standing right there, her senses remained completely empty. The woman was impossible to grasp.

This newcomer carried the distinct bearing of the Sword Comprehension Institute, yet Lisa couldn’t even determine her Rank.

She was far stronger than Lisa—an impossible opponent.

That thought popped into her head almost uncontrollably.

Crucially, while their brief exchange made it clear she and Fu Qian knew each other—Professor Fu even seemed to have anticipated the visit—the newcomer hadn’t taken a single step through the door after acknowledging him. It gave off a rather hostile vibe.”Who is this...”

Under the intense pressure, Lisa finally couldn’t hold back and asked subconsciously.

Unfortunately, the black-clad swordswoman merely threw a glance in her direction and gave no response.

”You got here faster than I expected... Take a look, the place I picked isn’t too bad, right?”

Meanwhile, the host, Professor Fu, had absolutely no intention of clearing up the confusion for the onlookers. He remained seated, addressing the visitor in an emotionless tone as he gestured to their surroundings.

In his peripheral vision, Classmate Liushuang was also silently coming down the stairs, her gaze likewise firmly locked onto Su Gao.

Clearly, she had been keeping a close eye on the commotion below.

”It’s not bad.”

Faced with such intense scrutiny, Demigod Su remained perfectly composed. She actually spent a few seconds admiring the place before giving her nod of approval.

Hahaha...

Fu Qian let out a hearty, almost villainous laugh as he finally stood up.

”But there’s no rush. We’re still missing a guest.”

Clap, clap!

It was another bizarre line. As he spoke, he clapped his hands.

”Are you planning to just keep watching over there, or are you going to join us and do your duty?”

And this next, even more baffling sentence wasn’t directed at their visitor, but at the deep darkness behind her.

...

There was someone else?

Already thoroughly confused, both Classmate Liushuang and Lisa couldn’t help but look behind Su Gao.

The silence only lasted for a few seconds before another figure actually emerged under the starlight, stepping closer with the posture of a hunter ready to strike.

”Professor Lanaya?”

Everyone present naturally had excellent eyesight. Lisa, whose eyes were already wide, recognized the newcomer instantly and muttered a greeting in disbelief.

To think there really was another guest. Furthermore, just when it seemed the situation was about to escalate, the newcomer turned out to be one of their own.

What on earth was going on? And how did this guy next to her know?

As the head of the Disciplinary Department, why was Professor Lanaya following behind this mysterious woman?

And she had clearly been deliberately hiding her presence.

For a moment, Lisa felt her thoughts turning entirely to mush.

”How did you know I was here? And what duty exactly do you want me to fulfill?”

Fortunately, it seemed she wasn’t the only one feeling that way.

Stepping forward under their watchful gazes, Professor Lanaya stopped once she was a certain distance from Su Gao. With her guard completely up, she finally couldn’t help but voice her confusion—and even a hint of grievance.

Seriously, trouble happened the moment this guy came back.

At this point, a clear gap in composure was revealed.

Even though the whole thing looked exactly like a trap set by Professor Fu, the visitor remained perfectly calm, not even turning her head.

”Isn’t it obvious? Executive Yama Su told me, of course. Come on in, both of you.

”Do you mind grabbing us something to drink? There should be some around here, right?”

In the very next second, Professor Fu’s demeanor grew incredibly lazy. As he casually welcomed the two visitors, he turned to Ji Liushuang beside him and asked for a favor.

”Huh?”

This complete 180-degree shift was undoubtedly shocking. Yet, even if they couldn’t understand Fu Qian’s tone, the title he casually dropped instantly connected a lot of mental dots for the confused onlookers.

Could it be...

”The Night Watcher in charge of investigating the previous incident?”

Lanaya was almost stunned.

”Yeah, what else did you think? That someone was just boldly breaking into the Academy in the middle of the night?

”As for your duty, you are the head of the Disciplinary Department, after all. Asking you to come out and do a proper handover makes perfect sense, doesn’t it?”

Fu Qian spoke as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

...

”The client for your temporary advisory services?”

While Lanaya was left speechless, Lisa finally caught on and asked in disbelief.

”Yep, Su Gao.”

Gesturing with his hand, Fu Qian succinctly introduced both sides.

”This is Professor Lisa, a young elite from the Apocalypse Branch. We just finished collaborating on a very interesting project.”

”Ji Liushuang, a student from the Sword Comprehension Institute and a research assistant in the Laboratory.”

”Greetings, Excellency Su Gao.”

Although she was the weakest, Classmate Liushuang’s mental adaptability was quite impressive. Clearly realizing that Professor Fu had just been messing with them, she relaxed and offered a respectful greeting.

Of course, she held back her smile so as not to be too obvious, avoiding provoking the two biggest victims of the prank.

”Hello.”

Even when facing a student, Su Gao showed no hint of disdain, returning the greeting earnestly.

”I apologize. I noticed someone spying from a distance and assumed it was some suspicious character, so I didn’t rush to point it out.”

The next moment, she even turned around to formally apologize to Lanaya.

...

”It’s fine, I was the one being impolite... I heard there was some strange commotion over here, and on my way back, I spotted Your Excellency and also thought you were some suspicious character...

”You guessed it right from the start, didn’t you? That’s why you deliberately said those weird things?”

Lanaya had been feeling a bit trepidatious, but halfway through her sentence, she abruptly turned toward Fu Qian with a vicious glare.

”Well... I guessed a little bit. There aren’t many people I can think of who would be so dedicated to their duty in the middle of the night.

”Also, don’t forget, I wasn’t the only one saying weird things.”

Fu Qian wore a modest expression, not forgetting to flatter his superior in the process.

He even dragged Executive Yama Su down with him, implying that she had a hand in scaring them just now.

...

”So, are you sure you don’t want to come in and rest your feet?”

Knowing it was clearly impossible to go looking for trouble with Su Gao, Lanaya was left speechless, while Fu Qian personally stepped forward to welcome the two guests.

Behind him, Classmate Liushuang was also briskly getting to work, following her boss’s instructions.
