The dark desires flowing from the human heart formed a night blacker than the night itself?

Interesting.

Sorting out the timeline, one thing was certain: the Night of Nights Potion had appeared before the first desecration of the sun.

By simple logic, it should have been the core of the original plan. In other words, the people of Gulade believed it was a method to achieve their goal.

However, because of his own act of desecrating the sun, the Gulade group had decisively abandoned dealing with the new municipal official. Instead, they had reined in their activities, replacing them with a small-scale, private distribution.

There were two explanations for this. The first was that they had been inspired and completely changed their approach.

The second possibility was that the previously manifested anomalies led them to believe a small-scale distribution was enough.

As things stood, the second possibility was obviously much more likely.

In other words, the scene before him was exactly the miniature version of what Gulade wanted to achieve.

It was certainly bizarre, but the tier of this thing was not high. It was hard to imagine it supporting a ritual for advancement to a Divine Emissary.Under the full moon, a special Night of Nights—could their goal be to catch the ”gaze” of the Progenitor?

”Flowing?”

Grantham, standing to the side, spoke up, clearly confused by Fu Qian’s commentary.

’That impeccable look of doubt means one of two things: either the man possesses top-tier acting talent, or he has also underestimated the scene before us.’

Fu Qian glanced at Grantham and made his judgment.

”Yeah. Although this group’s behavior is an eyesore and their shamelessness is off the charts, it’s easy to see that their emotions haven’t fluctuated because of it. Their actions are just switching without any logic.”

Fu Qian reached out a hand. It was swiftly engulfed by the darkness. It felt as though something deeper than the night itself was permeating the air.

”Like emotionless machines, they wander through a chaotic mess of commands, executing whatever they receive.”

”They even formed this stream of information themselves.”

Fu Qian watched the dance of demons. Someone was already pulling out their own teeth, one by one.

It was bizarre, but ultimately, it was still human behavior.

”The profound desires breeding in the unseen, lightless corners of the human heart flow out with every breath beneath this elegant facade, gathering into clouds before being inhaled by the others.”

”It’s like a churning, swirling cloud of dregs. It’s actually quite thrilling to think about!”

...

As Fu Qian vividly described the scene, Yuan Shan’s gaze grew visibly stern, and Grantham’s expression gradually twisted.

”Isn’t that an exaggeration! Could it be that their inner darkness has just been amplified?”

”After all, the Blood Clan also undergoes some special changes under the full moon, both physically and mentally.”

Grantham braced himself to argue the point, clearly unwilling to accept Fu Qian’s depiction, and even stretched out his own hand to demonstrate.

Under the reddish moonlight, his exposed skin had actually grown somewhat hazy.

Looking closely, one could even see specks of starlight twinkling on it, giving off a hallucinatory feel.

It wasn’t just a physical change. His aura had grown even more imposing compared to during the banquet.

”Save your strength for now. You can explain later.”

Yuan Shan wasn’t buying it. The sights along the way, combined with the bizarre scene before her, had clearly stoked the fires of her anger.

She could even faintly sense the flowing darkness that Fu Qian had described.

This was absolutely not some simple full-moon empowerment!

Thump!

Following a series of thuds, several men with the most exaggerated movements in the crowd collapsed one after another, thrashing on the ground.

However, the black threads binding their bodies quickly rendered them completely immobile.

Chief Yuan decisively struck, delivering a dimensional strike.

Unfortunately, this was clearly treating the symptoms rather than the root cause. Fu Qian watched helplessly as another person dropped to the ground and started pulling teeth.

Fortunately, if the efficiency was high enough, treating the symptoms would suffice.

Soon, this group of midnight wanderers fell in swaths like harvested wheat, unable to move.

Even so, not a single one made a sound. They lay stiff and straight, radiating an eerie vibe.

”Grantham, I need a way to stop this.”

Yuan Shan spoke coldly as she watched the crowd still converging in their direction.

”...Although it’s a bit unusual, it truly feels like the influence of the full moon. We can only control them temporarily and wait for the full moon to pass.”

Grantham hesitated briefly before bracing himself and saying it anyway.

”Ambor might have a solution, but it looks like he’s disappeared too.”

”I’ll notify my people to come over right away so they can help search for him.”

’It isn’t easy being the person in charge!’

Seeing Grantham so blatantly stalling for time, Fu Qian mused to himself.

From this reaction, it could be deduced that the current situation was, to some extent, still within their expectations—such as the convergence of darkness caused by the crowd. At most, he just hadn’t expected it to manifest so exaggeratedly.

Under these circumstances, as long as nothing major happened to this group of people, Grantham probably wouldn’t change his stance so easily.

”Find Ambor...”

Faced with this utterly insincere suggestion, Yuan Shan sneered repeatedly, her expression murderous.

However, before she could let Grantham feel her wrath, a new anomaly appeared before them.

The surroundings of the originally gloomy mansion were suddenly illuminated.

Looking up, the moon, which had merely been tinged with red, was now as crimson as blood.

A dense red glow cascaded down like a physical substance, shrouding everything in its vicinity.

This... seemed very different from before.

The dark dregs that had been flowing like clouds instantly whipped up into a storm.

They even carried a trace of something intensely unpleasant mixed within.

It was as if an originally cold, damp place had suddenly become humid and rotten.

Under this impact, the struggles of the people pinned to the ground grew freakishly strong.

Amidst tearing sounds, someone actually ripped their own throat open barehanded.

Through the wound, the exposed flesh could be seen violently twitching, yet the person’s face was filled with utter delight.

At the same time, in the blood-mist-like night sky, a figure darted out of the darkness and glided to the ground.

A Mid Tier entity with iconic giant bat wings—it was clearly someone arranged by Grantham.

However, the man had barely taken two steps after landing before his gait suddenly turned unsteady.

The next moment, with a sharp shriek, he actually lunged straight at the ground.

Unfortunately, he didn’t reach his target. As if slamming into something invisible, his entire body was swatted away.

”It looks like your man has gone mad too.”

Chief Yuan was no pushover, after all, and hadn’t given the man a chance to attack.

This...

Witnessing this scene, Grantham’s expression finally changed.

Before he could say anything, Fu Qian also suddenly reached out beside him, grabbing at empty space.

He actually tore away a chunk of darkness barehanded. It trembled and struggled frantically, but it couldn’t break free from Fu Qian’s grip no matter how hard it tried. Finally, it dissipated in resentment.

”It’s not just his men. There are other things here too.”
