Eldritch Horror Theatre

”It really was you!”

Fu Qian looked at Huang Yuanchang, who was sitting on the floor.

It was hard to mistake the Huang family’s signature stick-thin physique.

Judging by the scene before him, however, it seemed he was a step too late.

Who would have thought three Night Watchers could be killed so cleanly—and inside their own Base, no less?

Huang Yuanchang was covered in wounds, but Fu Qian could still tell his aura wasn’t particularly strong. At most, he was only at Tier 7 Peak.

Yet this very person had slaughtered his way from the Huang Manor to the Night Watchers Base, killing three Night Watchers in a matter of moments before arranging their bodies into a deliberate pose.

Fu Qian wondered if Huang Jianyuan’s group had been posed like this last time.

With Captain Qiao and his two men added to the toll, Huang Yuanchang’s sacrifice should be complete.

Fu Qian could distinctly feel that something was different. His intuition told him the notification for Containment Failure would appear soon.

He quickly decided to gather a bit more information first.

”Unfortunately, you’re too late.”

Huang Yuanchang sat slumped in a pool of blood, staring at his masterpiece with an obsessed, crazed expression.

”The final sacrifice is complete. You will witness my rebirth!”

After that dramatic proclamation, Huang Yuanchang turned to look at Fu Qian.

”You must be curious how I did all this, right?”

”Want to know how I was able to kill them?”

”It’s actually very simple. I just see their deaths.”

Huang Yuanchang flashed a fanatical smile.

”I am a favored one of God. You cannot see Him, so you cannot even begin to imagine His power.”

’Sorry to disappoint, but I actually have seen Him, and quite clearly at that,’ Fu Qian thought.

”His ubiquitous guidance leads me. I only need to follow His orders and guide these people to their Destined Death!”

”That is why they could not fight me. They cannot escape the omens of death.”

This speech was seriously off the charts on the fanatic scale. Fu Qian frowned.

However, the term ”Destined Death” was rather interesting.

Fu Qian thought of all those transcendents who had died such frustrating deaths.

How did that saying go?

People die if they are killed.

No one could stay on high alert forever. According to this logic, as long as there was a possibility of them being killed, Huang Yuanchang could see it under the guidance of that great entity. He could then appear when they were at their most vulnerable and relaxed, using whatever means possible to reap their lives.

This logic sounded a lot like a certain movie franchise he had watched before.

”Even those three were no exception. It just required me to pay a small price to make their Destined Death manifest.”

Huang Yuanchang stroked his wounds, laughing maniacally even as his face twisted in pain.

”You know? This is also why you could never catch me. Because not only can I see the deaths of others, but I can also see my own.”

”You might be strong. I can’t even see through your cultivation realm. But as long as I avoid the threads that guide me toward death, no one will ever be able to kill me.”

”No matter what methods you use or what plans you make. Understand?”

Huang Yuanchang’s expression grew increasingly unhinged.

”Now that the final sacrifice is complete, you will have the honor of witnessing the grand blessing He bestows upon His favored one.”

”I can already feel it!”

”Yeah... I feel it too.”

Fu Qian nodded.

He wasn’t just talking nonsense. A moment ago, he had sensed something highly unusual taking shape inside Huang Yuanchang’s body.

However, he wasn’t as optimistic as the other man. He didn’t think that thing felt like much of a blessing.

”Keep talking, I’m listening!”

Fu Qian usually didn’t appreciate villains who talked too much, but if they were standing against him, he welcomed it wholeheartedly.

”Actually, He has been guiding me for many years.”

Having finished his raving, Huang Yuanchang entered his reminiscing phase.

”In the past, I never understood what those voices I constantly heard were. That was until I followed His instructions and made my first attempt. Then, I received an unimaginable gift.”

”Unlike my brothers and sisters, I inherited this ghastly appearance and lacked any talent for cultivation. Yet, He showed me the possibilities.”

”As I made more sacrifices, I received more revelations. Ultimately, He guided me back to West Plain, where I would complete the final step.”

”And you will be the very first witness!”

Huang Yuanchang threw his hands into the air again, his voice rising to an excited, ear-piercing shriek as he looked completely insane.

Seeing this, Fu Qian quietly took a few steps back.

The next moment, Huang Yuanchang’s fanatical expression froze. His head swelled like a balloon before exploding into a rain of red and white.

Brilliant golden patterns scattered outward, linking together into a string of profound, mystical textures. Just a single glance was enough to dazzle the mind.

At the same time, Fu Qian’s mind jolted, as if he had just formed a connection with some special entity.

This feeling was exactly the same as last time.

Fu Qian was almost certain that the tree had appeared in the sky outside once again.

Meanwhile, within West Plain City, the number of idiots with collapsed minds was growing exponentially.

”I told you it wasn’t necessarily a blessing.”

Fu Qian sighed as he watched Huang Yuanchang’s headless corpse slowly collapse to the floor.

He had learned his lesson this time. Even though he was indoors, he kept his gaze leveled straight ahead and didn’t look up, minimizing the risk of dropping his SAN Value.

Soon, a notification chime rang in his ears, and his vision rapidly blurred.

[Calamity Descent, Containment Failure]

[Current SAN Value: 41]

[Play event recap?]

This was a bit tricky!

Back in the Warehouse, Fu Qian frowned.

He had found the guy, but the situation still looked incredibly difficult to handle.

First of all, this Destined Death was honestly cheating. With it in play, everything could change at any moment, meaning his experience from one loop couldn’t be applied to the next.

At the very least, Ill Omen’s previous hunting routes would offer no reference value whatsoever.

As long as Fu Qian made targeted adjustments that threatened his life, he would simply react and alter his route accordingly.

Based on Fu Qian’s own actions, this ability would constantly calculate and generate an optimal solution.

Not to mention, his ability to see death meant he could target practically anyone.

Assuming he needed to sacrifice ten people, out of the nearly one hundred transcendents in West Plain City, the combinations were C(100, 10)—an astronomical number.

No, there was also the issue of order, so it should be P(100, 10), which was even more astronomical!

Doing missions these days was really not easy; he actually had to study math.

In fact, Fu Qian didn’t believe everything Huang Yuanchang said was entirely true.

First of all, judging by his final fate, he was nothing more than used cannon fodder. He definitely didn’t know everything.

Secondly, Destined Death alone couldn’t explain why Geng Yue’s death had been different the two times.

The situation was genuinely complicated!

Perhaps he could try brute-forcing it?

For example, by turning C(100, 10) into C(10, 10)?
