Divine Wilderness Dragon Emperor

I just received a message from my editor: *Divine Wilderness Dragon Emperor* is going premium. It will officially be pay-to-read after about nine o’clock.

I know that when you see this, many of you will probably curse me out, saying things like, ”We already use our mobile data to read, why do you want money on top of that?”

The reasoning is quite simple. When you use a cell phone, you have to pay a monthly fee for your plan, right? You pay even if you don’t make any calls. Using your phone to go online costs data, which also costs money.

There’s no way around these things.

Because every industry needs to be profitable to pay its workers a living wage, so they can support their families.

The novel will be charged at a rate of 0.05 yuan per 1,000 characters. Since I suffer from tendinitis in my fingers and type very slowly, a whole month of reading will only cost you around eight yuan.

Eight yuan is really not much these days. Even a student’s allowance is more than that.

But I have to sit in front of my computer, wracking my brain to come up with the plot. I suffer from frequent insomnia. After writing for so long, I’ve developed occupational hazards like nervous exhaustion, insomnia, and tendinitis in my fingers. It’s truly not easy. Most importantly, writing a book means working 365 days a year without a break in updates. You could say there’s hardly any other profession that demands such diligence and dedication.

Back when you were in school, how long did it take you to write an 800-character composition?

But for a novel, you have to keep the entire story in mind and make sure it stays exciting. It’s incredibly difficult.

Of course, I can endure all this hardship because I love to write. My dream is to create a Xuanhuan world that satisfies all of you.

My dream is for the stories I write to become widely known and one day be adapted for the silver screen.

Some people might say, ”But won’t keeping it free allow more people to discover the book?”

On the surface, that seems to be true.

But if the book is free, how am I supposed to support myself? Without money, how do I pay my electricity and internet bills? What will I eat?

Am I supposed to eat mobile data? [I’d starve to death.]

The world is a realistic place. Without money, you can’t get anywhere.

Besides, if a book isn’t profitable, it’s considered to have no value. The website won’t promote it, and so no one will ever know it exists.

Let me give you a simple example.

In 2013, I wrote a book called *Demon Blood Emperor*. I worked on it for six months, but during that time, very few readers were willing to pay to read it. My monthly royalties were only four to five hundred yuan. Even with that, I persisted for half a year. But as time went on, the pressure mounted because, well, the world is a very realistic place.

If you don’t have a house, you can’t get married. If you don’t have money, even your own family will say you’re not working a proper job.

That year, the pressure was immense. I couldn’t fall asleep until after two in the morning, every single day. The constant insomnia led to a nervous breakdown.

That year, I felt lost. I began to question my life...

In the end, I had no choice but to wrap up *Demon Blood Emperor* at the one-million-character mark.

Later, I wrote a new book, *Undying Martial Venerable*. Those of you who have read it might have noticed that I included some elements from *Demon Blood Emperor*. I did that out of a sense of nostalgia, and to address a lingering regret.

Fortunately, *Undying Martial Venerable* performed very well as soon as it was released, ranking among the top Xuanhuan novels. On QQ Reading alone, it was collected by nearly two million readers, and it garnered seventy million clicks on Migu Reading.

This book saved me. I was on the verge of collapse, but it allowed me to get back on my feet. I could finally write with some peace of mind.

Now, my new book, *Divine Wilderness Dragon Emperor*, is out. So that I can give this story the ending it deserves, I hope you all will be willing to pay to subscribe and allow me to finish this exciting tale.

On that note, Old Demon thanks all of you. I especially want to thank the long-time readers who supported *Undying Martial Venerable*. Without you, I wouldn’t be here today.

At the same time, if you really don’t want to pay to read, then I just want to say, let’s part on good terms. Thank you for your support up to this point.

We all have our own struggles, so let’s not make things difficult for one another, alright?

Of course, I still hope you’ll choose to support the official release.

Therefore, I sincerely hope that if you, my dear readers, truly love this book, you will support the official release. Please consider topping up your Book Coins to support *Divine Wilderness Dragon Emperor*.

Actually, topping up is very simple. You all have the mobile QQ app. Open the ”Feeds” tab, find ”Reading,” then search for *Divine Wilderness Dragon Emperor*, and you can top up your Book Coins. Finally, I still hope all of you readers will support the official release and subscribe to *Divine Wilderness Dragon Emperor*. In my years as a writer, I have seen so many of my author friends quit the industry because they couldn’t make a living. I truly don’t want to end up like them, and I hope you can all lend me your strength.

I would also like to thank Yuewen Group for their support, as well as the support of my Editor-in-Chief, Tai Shan, and my editor, Tiger, among others.

Next up, I’ll be releasing six Chapters! To all my brothers and sisters out there, are your monthly tickets ready?
