High School DxD: Return of the Crimson Dragon Emperor

Chapter 87: Chapter 85: The Moment of Resolve

Thanks to Akeno-san and Koneko-chan, I managed to recover slightly. My eyes locked onto Loki, who was about to unleash a massive blaze.

”Lokiiiiiiiiii!” I roared.

I relayed the strategy to Miu, pouring all my aura into Mjolnir. Its size dwarfed me—ten times larger, at least. It was so heavy I could barely lift it with one hand.

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBoost!!!!

In Tenbu form, I accelerated my power surge, amplifying my strength. Honestly, I was nearing my limit.

”Indeed, partner,” Ddraig said. ”Given your state, maintaining this form is a miracle. It won’t last much longer.”

Yeah, no kidding.

That’s why I was betting everything on this. My final gamble.

Loki’s eyes widened at Mjolnir’s size but quickly curled into a smirk. ”Still standing after those wounds? Impressive. But you can’t wield Mjolnir with a tainted heart!”

Yeah, I know. My pervy nature makes me unworthy.

Abandon my lechery? Nope, impossible.

”Sorry, everyone, but I can’t ditch my pervy heart!” I shouted. ”So take this, Loki!”

I swung Mjolnir back and hurled it with all my might.

”What!?” Loki’s voice cracked with shock.

No one expects a god’s weapon—even a replica—to be thrown. He dodged the massive hammer, which crashed into the ground.

BOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!

The impact obliterated everything, leaving a barren wasteland. Insane power! No lightning, though—my pervy heart’s fault. Expected, so no big deal.

Mjolnir, cut off from my aura, shrank back to normal. Loki, stunned by my move, burst into laughter. ”What’s this, Red Dragon Emperor? Gone mad? Did Fenrir break your mind along with your body?”

Keep talking.

Laugh all you want.

That wasn’t my real plan. The real move comes next.

”Hahaha! Is that all you’ve got?” Loki sneered, but his words died as he saw what I held next.

”Come on, Ignis!” I shouted.

Red particles gathered in my left hand, forming a massive sword. Its blade unleashed searing flames, turning the area into a blazing inferno.

”Everyone, bear with it just a bit!” I called out.

”With that? I’ll shatter it with Laevateinn!” Loki swung his fiery blade down.

”You’re the one who’ll break!” I roared, enduring the burning pain in my hand as I swung Ignis.

Our flame-wreathed swords clashed—

CRASHHHHH!!!

”Guoooooh!?” Loki screamed.

Laevateinn shattered, and Ignis sliced off his right arm. Blood sprayed as he clutched the wound, but he counterattacked instantly. ”You bastard!”

A magic circle appeared, firing a barrage of magical bullets. At near point-blank range, I couldn’t dodge. The blast pierced my abdomen, leaving a gaping hole.

”Gah!” Blood poured from my mouth and wound.

Damn, that hurts. How much blood have I lost in this fight?

As I writhed in pain, Loki grabbed my collar. ”Ready to die? I’ll crush you completely!”

His aura surged, dark and malevolent. As expected from an evil god.

But—

I gripped his arm tightly, refusing to let go. ”You’re the one who needs to be ready.”

”What?” Loki’s face twisted in confusion.

A divine light shone from above. ”Perfect timing, Miu.”

”Yaaaaaaah!” Miu descended at incredible speed, holding—

”M-Mjolnir!?” Loki’s shock was palpable. ”How!?”

My final gamble: Miu would wield Mjolnir to defeat Loki.

The plan was simple. I’d throw Mjolnir to distract him. He’d dodge, and while I kept his attention, Miu would grab the hammer and strike.

The gamble hinged on whether Miu could wield Mjolnir and if Loki would leave an opening. It worked.

Mjolnir glowed with divine lightning—its true power unlocked, unlike when I used it.

”Pretty awesome, right? Feel free to praise her!” I grinned. ”She’s my sister, after all. No impure thoughts holding her back!”

BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBoost!!!!

I formed a massive orb of aura and launched it at Miu. ”Transfer!”

Her aura skyrocketed, amplifying Mjolnir’s divine glow.

”Miu!”

”Go!” she shouted, delivering a full-power strike.

ZAPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!

A colossal bolt of lightning engulfed Loki. When it faded, his body was charred and broken, collapsing to the ground, motionless.

Did we do it?

”You dare harm Father!” A murderous aura hit me from behind.

I turned to see Hel, poised to attack. I braced myself, unable to dodge—

BOOM!

Something sent Hel flying.

”Sloppy, Hel,” Tia said, blowing on her fist. ”With Fenrir gone and Loki defeated, you’ve got no chance.”

After entrusting Hel’s capture to Tia and Barachiel, I received Asia’s healing. Man, she saved my life. Phoenix Tears were gone, and without her, I’d be done for.

Time to restrain Loki. ”Miu.”

”Got it.”

We approached cautiously. No signs of trouble, but if this was another clone, I’d lose it. Loki said it was a forbidden technique, so mass production seemed unlikely.

A groan came from Loki as we neared. ”Ugh...”

Our eyes met. He was still conscious. ”Tough bastard. Still awake after that?”

”Impressive,” he rasped. ”You’ve assembled such forces. I won’t resist... not that I could.”

Surprising. I expected a trick. ”Thought you’d try something.”

”I told you, I have no strength left.” He stood shakily, no hostility in his aura.

But something felt off. A gnawing unease.

Loki smirked. ”To think I’d lose... as expected from those who defeated another world’s demon king.”

”What!?” My voice trembled.

What did he say? Another world’s demon king?

His grin dripped with malice. ”It’s too late! That being will destroy your old world and this one! The twilight is unstoppable. Enjoy your fleeting peace, demon king’s daughter and Red Dragon Emperor returned from another world!”

Ice formed around him. Miu shouted, ”A seal!?”

”Hahaha!” Loki laughed maniacally.

He’s sealing himself!?

”Explain yourself!” I yelled, activating Renkan Keikiko to smash the ice. It didn’t crack.

I kept pounding. ”Answer me, Loki!”

The ice encased him completely, silencing my cries.

Then, I blacked out.

[Azazel Side]

In the top-floor room of the hotel hosting Odin and Japan’s gods, I discussed the operation with Sirzechs.

”It worked out,” I said.

”The alliance is stronger, and no lives were lost. I’m relieved,” Sirzechs replied.

Despite our powerful team—Issei, Vali, and two dragon kings—we expected casualties. Yet, none occurred. Loki and Hel were defeated, and Fenrir vanished with Vali.

”Issei was the key again,” Sirzechs said.

”Technically, the Hyoudou siblings. Miu landed the final blow with Mjolnir.”

Impressive that Miu wielded it. ”Loki’s words are troubling,” I added. ”’Demon king’s daughter’ and ’Red Dragon Emperor returned from another world.’ And ’that being.’”

Whoever Loki meant sounds dangerous.

”Is Issei still out?” Sirzechs asked.

”Yeah. He’s in rough shape—sliced by Laevateinn, bitten by Fenrir, massive blood loss. He needs rest.”

”Another world, huh? Troublesome.”

No kidding. Scholars across factions debate other worlds, but no conclusions exist. This could unravel Issei’s mysteries.

”Red Dragon Emperor returned from another world,” I muttered, gazing at the city lights.

[Azazel Side Out]

[Third-Person Side]

A pure white world, like the depths of a sacred gear where past Red Dragon Emperors reside.

Two figures stood: a man with long black hair, clad in black, exuding a warrior’s dignity, and a woman in a fiery red dress, her long hair matching its hue. Both were striking, like actors.

”You were reckless, using my power without permission,” the woman said, smiling. ”I was shocked.”

”Sorry. I couldn’t stop it alone, not without a body. Forgive me,” the man replied.

”Don’t worry. I like that about you.”

”I’m glad.”

She laughed softly. ”That boy’s reckless too, fighting to protect others despite his state.”

”As expected of the man I acknowledged,” he said.

”I see why you like him.”

”But you don’t acknowledge him?” he teased.

She shrugged. ”It’s not that. My voice can’t reach him yet. It’s too soon. I don’t want to risk killing him.”

”Fair enough,” he sighed, relieved.

”Loki mentioned ’that being,’” he said. ”The one you spoke of?”

She nodded. ”He’s likely been unsealed.”

”Then—”

”Yes. Asto Ade. We must return.”

[Third-Person Side Out]

I woke up on a bed. Passed out again, huh? This is becoming a habit.

Pain shot through me as I sat up. A white room—probably a hospital.

The door opened, and Akeno-san entered. ”Oh, Issei-kun. You’re awake.”

”Akeno-san, is this...?”

”The Gremory hospital. You collapsed, so we transferred you here. The doctor insists on complete rest.”

Figured. I pushed myself too far and lost a ton of blood.

”Where’s everyone?”

”They’re resting at the Gremory estate. That battle took a toll.”

No surprise there.

”You’re okay already?” I asked.

”Yes. As Gremory’s queen, I must support everyone.” She sat beside me, peeling an apple with a knife. ”I came to thank you.”

”Thank me?”

”You helped me move forward.”

”You did that yourself. I didn’t do much.”

”No. Without your push, our relationship wouldn’t have healed. Thank you.” She bowed.

I didn’t do anything that big...

She placed apple slices on a tray and fed me one. ”Open wide.”

”Ahh.” Chomp. ”Delicious!”

”Glad you think so.” Her usual smile seemed... different. Her cheeks flushed. So cute!

”Issei-kun, may I?”

”Huh?”

I leaned closer, curious. Her face neared, and—

Our lips met.

...What?

”Fufu. My first kiss. Will you accept it?” she said, blushing.

Seriously!? I got her first kiss!

Overwhelmed, I froze as she hugged me. ”I love you, Issei-kun. I’ll stay by your side forever.”

Oh, wow! What do I do?

”I’ll stay with you too, Akeno!” I blurted out.

After Akeno returned to the Gremory estate, Ddraig spoke. ”How’re you holding up, partner?”

”Eh, so-so. Wounds are healed, but I’m sluggish from blood loss.”

”Eat well and rest. You’ll recover.”

”Got it. Even Renkan Keikiko and Asia’s healing can’t fix this. I’ll take it easy.”

”Good. Now, about Loki’s words...”

Yeah. He knew about me and Miu. No idea how.

But more concerning: something’s happening in the other world. Alice and the others might be in danger.

”And the Gremorys know now,” Ddraig said. ”What’s your plan?”

Dad said it’d come out eventually. It’s time.

”Time to tell them everything.”
