Di Fuyi would no longer care if she lived or perished. It had been four hours since he last saw her in her wounded state. If he really cared about her condition, he would definitely find a way to come and see her. She had been waiting for him, but he never came. Perhaps, he had truly given up on her. Overwhelmed by the disappointment, she suppressed the urge to cry and closed her eyes.

The only noise Gu Xijiu heard was the mere rustling of leaves in the wind. Suddenly, she noticed some movement in the air, like a sign of disturbance. Surprised, she quickly opened her eyes and looked for the source of the sound. Unfortunately, it was just a leopard, not the man that she was hoping to see.

Disappointment filled her heart. She tried not to be hopeful, but as soon as she heard the noise, she immediately thought that it was him.

“Hush!” She could feel something darting by her side. Someone had landed next to her! Gu Xijiu opened her eyes, and the first thing that she saw was the face of Mr. Zhu. Seemingly injured, he staggered as he landed next to her.

Their eyes met, and he smiled as soon as he saw the look in her eyes. He said, “Are you disappointed to see me?”

In her paralyzed state, she could only stare at him.

Mr. Zhu was not as carefree as he was when she first met him. Instead, he gritted his teeth a little in frustration as he said, “You should not keep your hopes on something that will never materialize. He will not show up for you. I went all the way to retrieve the cure for you and almost got myself in one of his traps while making my way out. I found the princess and forced her to give me the antitoxin.”

He quickly showed her the bottle of medicine like an achievement. “You are saved!”

Troubled, Gu Xijiu was worried that the cure might not actually be a cure. Being the wicked lady she was, Princess Yuanyuan would definitely not surrender the cure to him so easily. However, she could not utter a single word. It became difficult even to move her eyes.

Helplessly, she watched as Mr. Zhu rolled out a red pill from the bottle and forced it into her mouth. Gu Xijiu’s throat was too numb to swallow anything, but fortunately, as soon as he put the pill into her mouth, it melted right away and flowed smoothly into her stomach. A few moments later, Gu Xijiu started coughing very violently and spat out two mouthfuls of fresh blood.

Shocked, Mr. Zhu started thinking out loud, “Did the evil woman give me the wrong cure? It cannot be! I had to be sure that she was not cheating, so I stabbed her with the same Emei Sword and watched as she took out the pill in desperation. I had to steal the pill before she swallowed it just to make sure it was the right one. Was she risking her life just to trick me?”

Gu Xijiu almost coughed her lungs out, accompanied by mouthful after mouthful of blood. Luckily, her speech soon returned. “The cure… Perhaps… It is the cure… Maybe… There is a clash with the medicine that… That you have given me earlier.”

Mr. Zhu was shocked, too. He sounded a little guilty as he asked, “How do you feel right now?”

Gu Xijiu was finally able to stop coughing. With a dizzy head and blurred eyes, she leaned against the chair and said faintly, “Let me… Have a rest.”

Mr. Zhu slowly closed in and stopped when he realized some movement in his surroundings. “This is not good. Someone has come into the bamboo garden.”

Before Gu Xijiu could say anything, Mr. Zhu suddenly waved his hand, and a door appeared. He then carried Xie Zhi in his arms and dragged Gu Xijiu through the door. In the blink of an eye, they all landed in a desert, filled entirely with sand. The door in the air then disappeared.

Gu Xijiu was still in a daze.
