Venerated Venomous Consort

It would be unreasonable for the palace to be left empty. Moreover, the palace was built on the ground with the best Feng Shui out of the entire capital city, where every inch of the land was valuable.

The emperor thus seized the opportunity to ask Gu Xijiu of her opinion about the place. Gu Xijiu insisted on keeping the palace, so she shook her head to dismiss the emperor’s suggestion. “Do not touch anything about the palace. I am keeping it for my personal use.”

The emperor decided not to ask anything more. Before Gu Xijiu departed, she decided to erase Rong Jialuo’s memory about his previous life. His past life had not always been good. He had been living with heavy burdens all his life. In the end, his body was taken by Mo Zhao, and he died a tragic death.

His reincarnation should grant him a new chance to live a new life, without the burdens of his past. Moreover, the emperor missed his elder brother very dearly. If he knew that his own son was the reincarnation of his beloved brother, there might be a negative influence on his growth. If Rong Jialuo kept his memory, he would easily expose himself.

Gu Xijiu did not return to the residence of National Celestial Master. Instead, she paid a visit to the Fucang Palace. The place had been abandoned for almost two years. The pavilions and even the main buildings were all covered in long, overgrown grass, making the place look even more desolate.

She walked the path and performed a spell to mow the grass as she went. She wanted the place to see the light of day once more. Slowly, her casual promenade led her all the way to the lakeside of the thermal spring. A thin, misty fog floated on the lake’s surface, making it look unusually surreal.

Without giving much thought, she leaped into the water, submerging her body in the warm water. She softly rippled the calm surface of the lake, and the scene reminded her of something familiar.

She fell into a trance! In her vision, she saw a beautiful lady in a red dress, submerging half of her body in the water. A tiny figure in black was hugging her that lady. However, they did not seem intimate. It seemed more like an attack!

It roughly reminded her of a conversation.

“You have seen me naked.”

“You have even touched me.”

“How could a princess like me be entirely exposed and even touched by a man! I have lost my chastity. I am ready to die to preserve my honor.”

“I am a woman.”

“I fail to notice that.”

“My puberty has failed me. I really am a woman. If you choose to believe me…”

“How? How are you going to prove it?”

The content of the conversation was too much for her to process. She could not tell the genders apart, but she knew there were two voices. Surprisingly, she could remember that the beauty in red was, in fact, a man and the tiny, black figure was a woman.

There was a splash, pulling her back to reality, but there was only her, alone in the huge lake. There was not anyone else. Her heart started to throb as sadness filled it.

She took a deep breath to calm herself down. Was the vision an actual event of what they had been through?

This time, the man was dressed entirely in fiery red. It seems like this man was not consistently wearing purple; he would sometimes dress in red, and other times in white. Was the man Huang Tu, the man that was mentioned by the Firmament Stone?

If so, Gu Xijiu knew that he did not go to the Upper Bound after his immortalization. He had vanished entirely. They would not meet again.

She took the box out, tossing and turning it in her hands like her empty heart. Her mission was to find the master of the box. Surely, its master must be someone extraordinary. Who would that be?

High above the world, the moon kindled the lake, shining on the calm surface and the forlorn figure of hers. Gu Xijiu closed her eyes, lost in her own thoughts. She had so many questions without answers.

“The heavenly law!” A voice emerged so suddenly.

Gu Xijiu opened her eyes, obviously in shock. “What?”

“The master of the box was the embodiment of the heavenly law,” The voice had come as a bit of a shock.
