This Life, I'm Raising the Right Man

Su Yaoguang was fetching water early in the morning and ran into Jiang Family’s mother and daughter escorting Jiang Yihui to private school.

Jiang Yihui saw Su Yaoguang, his expression soured.

The sight of Su Yaoguang killing a wild boar haunted him for two nights, his head was still buzzing even now. Seeing Su Yaoguang again brought all those vanished scenes back.

Su Yaoguang sneered and said sarcastically, ”A scholar is of no practical use—a jellyfish.”

”You...” Zhong Lanhua glared at Su Yaoguang.

”Oh my, are you going to gang up on me? Three against one, how tyrannical,” Su Yaoguang shouted loudly, drawing the attention of passing villagers.

”Mother, don’t mind this rude village girl,” Jiang Yihui said coldly.

”I’m a village girl, but your mother isn’t a village girl, your sister isn’t a village girl? Now the young master of the Jiang Family is something else, looking down on us locals born and raised here.”

”Only women and petty people are difficult to deal with...” Jiang Yihui took the book box from Jiang Yihuan’s hands and stormed off angrily.

Zhong Lanhua and Jiang Yihuan glared at Su Yaoguang. The mother and daughter knew of the frightening strength Su Yaoguang possessed now and dared not provoke her easily; they could only leave while muttering in low voices.

Su Yaoguang rolled her eyes.

She simply detested this family, every time she saw them she wanted to make them uncomfortable. The more uncomfortable they were, the more at ease she felt. No wonder carrying water suddenly became effortless.

Zhang Zhaodi returned from outside and said to Su Yaoguang, ”Daughter, someone just sought me out saying a pregnant woman is about to deliver and asked me to help with the birth.”

”Mother, why don’t you stop doing midwife work?” Su Yaoguang said, ”We can earn money by making rouge and powder. Taking on others’ births often leads to unreasonable households.”

”This family is paying well, I’ve already agreed, so I’ll finish it first. You now have Wang Shu to keep you company, you’re not home alone like before, so I won’t worry as much.”

”Alright, I’ll help you pack your bags.”

”No need, I can pack them myself.” Zhang Zhaodi patted her hand and looked at Zhou Wangshu beside her. ”Wang Shu, take good care of Yaoguang.”

”Aunt, rest assured.”

Zhang Zhaodi tidied up her luggage and left.

When Su Yaoguang finished fetching the water, Zhou Wangshu had chopped all the firewood. He carried a basket up the mountain, one to search for mountain goods, and two to continue looking for materials for Su Yaoguang’s rouge and powder.

Zhou Wangshu had just gone up the mountain when someone quietly slipped into the yard.

Su Yaoguang returned after washing clothes and hung them to dry in the yard. After she finished, she felt a bit thirsty and drank a bowl of cooled boiled water in gulps.

She proceeded to bring out the unfinished rouge and powder materials to continue her work.

”Strange, why do I feel weak?” Su Yaoguang stopped what she was doing and held her head. ”Could it be from exhaustion lately?”

But even so, it shouldn’t be to the point where she can’t muster any strength!

Su Yaoguang returned inside and lay on the bed.

As soon as she laid down, she realized something was amiss.

She felt like this only after drinking the water. She was just fine before, brimming with energy.

With difficulty, she sat up, picked up a needle from the sewing basket, and pricked her finger to let some blood flow, simultaneously stirring herself awake.

Once she regained a bit of strength, she slowly moved toward the kitchen, touched the water container, and sure enough, felt a fine powder.

Who did this? Who would drug her water? This drug definitely wasn’t poison; killing her would involve a murder case, which wouldn’t benefit anyone. She was powerless because her strength was too great, the person who drugged her wanted to control her, making her obediently compliant.

In the village, there were only two families who wanted to harm her: Uncle Su’s family, and Zhong Lanhua’s family.

So far, the greatest conflict was with Uncle Su’s family. Though Zhong Lanhua’s mother and daughter had disputes with her and her mother, nothing was seriously enough to risk sneaking into her home and drugging the water.

Outside the yard, Su Guilan looked around stealthily, seeing no one passing by, she said to the large dull-witted fellow beside her, ”Quick, go in! Your wife is inside. Did you remember what your mother taught you just now? Take off her clothes and follow the instructions on the picture, and she’ll be your wife. Once you have a wife, you’ll have someone to bear your children and cook for you.”

”I don’t want anyone else, only my mother. Mother cooks for me, mother bears children for me.” The dull-witted fellow whined with his nose running.

A two-hundred-pound solid guy with a scruffy beard, dare to say such shameful things. Even though Su Guilan was long accustomed to it, she still blushed with embarrassment.

”If you have a wife, you’ll have both your mother and wife cooking for you, you’ll have endless good food to eat. Hurry inside, or I won’t cook for you anymore.”

”Okay, I’ll go in. Mother, don’t be mad. I want meat, meat...” The dull-witted fellow entered the yard.

Watching him leave, Su Guilan urged, ”Quickly, go into the inside room.”

Until the dull-witted fellow entered Su Yaoguang’s room, Su Guilan’s face finally bore a smile.

”I went through so much trouble to find someone about to give birth to lure Zhang Zhaodi away, proving to the household that Zhang Zhaodi’s birthing skill is excellent so she won’t be at home short term. I waited an hour outside until seeing that cheap husband went up the mountain. Most importantly, the drug is costly and hard to obtain, it took quite an effort. If this doesn’t succeed, I might as well eat shit. If Su Yaoguang this wretched girl is sensible, she’d just marry my son willingly, considering we’re relatives, we wouldn’t treat her poorly. She refuses to know her place. In that case, I’ll ruin your reputation so badly you’ll have no choice but to marry.”

BANG BANG, loud noises erupted from inside.

”It’s done, it’s done.” Su Guilan said in excitement.

Then, she slapped her knee with her large palm, deliberately shouting loudly, ”Mutou, oh Mutou... what should I do now?”

”What’s wrong, Mother!” The passing aunt asked with concern.

”My foolish son insists on seeing cousin Yaoguang, he came over to find her as soon as he got here. You know how careless he is, I’m worried Yaoguang might get bullied by him! Aunt, could you come with me to look inside? I can’t restrain that kid by myself. You’re strong, help me hold him back.”

Upon hearing this, the aunt quickly said, ”Then let’s go check quickly?”

Villagers passing by heard the commotion here and came over to ask what happened.

This time was right when people were returning from the fields, more and more people were passing by, more and more came over to join the fun.

Zhong Lanhua also heard the commotion and came over, but she dared not enter the Su Family’s yard, she peeked inside from the gate.

Zhong Lanhua understood that woman Su Guilan too well, she felt there was more to this matter. It was said Zhang Zhaodi had gone to assist with a birth again, just now she saw that little husband went up the mountain, so there should only be Su Yaoguang, a little girl, inside the room.

Tsk tsk, a good show is about to start.
