Transmigrating into the Genius Cannon Fodder’s Aunt

Chapter 54.1 – Afraid of the Shot? Get Drunk First! (I)

The next day, the three little drunkards didn’t stir until the sun was high in the sky. The first to wake was Mao Huizhu. When she opened her eyes and saw Chenchen and Xiao Feng lying next to her, she wasn’t too surprised—it wasn’t rare for the three of them to nap together.

Xia Mian watched her slowly come to her senses, then suddenly jolted up and rushed to shake Chenchen. “Chenchen, hurry, hurry! Today’s the martial arts tournament!”

The little guy mumbled a few sounds, rolled over, and continued sleeping.

While lifting the blanket and searching for clothes, Mao Huizhu shouted again, “Then the position of Martial Alliance Leader will be mine!”

Chenchen immediately opened his eyes and, without understanding the situation, declared, “The Martial Alliance Leader is me!”

Xia Mian couldn’t help teasing them when she heard this, “The Martial Alliance Leader belongs to Fatty Wang!”

Chenchen immediately sobered up, scrambled to his feet, and protested at Xia Mian, “No way! Fatty Wang is the Demonic Sect Leader, he can’t participate in the Martial Arts Tournament!”

While saying this, he also started rummaging around for clothes. At the same time, he didn’t forget to nudge his little apprentice. “Xiao Feng, wake up.”

Xiao Feng was finally woken up by all the commotion. After waking, the little guy was very quiet, giving Xia Mian a sweet smile first. “Auntie.”

Xia Mian walked over and scooped him out of the covers. Seeing how soft and obedient he looked, she flashed him a grin, “Do you remember what you did last night?”

“Last night?” Xiao Feng tilted his head in confusion. Then he revealed a few tiny white teeth and said, “I slept?”

Xia Mian ruffled his messy little tuft and gave him a big kiss on his chubby cheek. “Since you’re so adorable, I’ll let it slide.”

Xiao Feng didn’t understand what his auntie meant. He stretched out his little arms to hug her neck and nuzzle into the crook of her neck.

Xia Mian ruffled his hair and said to the two martial heroes who were scrambling to get dressed, “No rush, take your time. It’s already noon, anyway. You won’t make it to the Martial Arts Tournament.”

Mao Huizhu got anxious when she heard that. “Huh?! How is it already noon? Where’s the morning?”

“You all slept through the morning,” Xia Mian laughed. She had already gone early to their kindergarten in the morning to report their absence.

Hearing the noise, Mao Huilan came in, chuckling, “Who do you think you can blame? Who told you to sneak wine?”

“What wine?” Mao Huizhu either had a memory blackout or was trying to avoid punishment, completely denying it. “I didn’t!”

The prospect of missing the Martial Arts Tournament made her even more anxious. “Why didn’t you wake me up?!”

“Do you remember? Did you guys sneak some wines?” She turned to Chenchen.

Chenchen clearly remembered. He guiltily looked away and immediately changed the subject, “Where’s my mom?”

Ning Shaoyun happened to appear at the door. “I’m right here.”

Chenchen smiled at her ingratiatingly. “Mom, why did I sleep so long?”

Ning Shaoyun said coolly, “Because you drank alcohol yesterday. So your uncle took you to the hospital for a shot. After the shot, you needed to sleep a long time.”

Chenchen instinctively covered his butt. “But Mom, it didn’t even hurt.”

Ning Shaoyun wasn’t experienced at bluffing kids and didn’t know how to respond for a moment.

Xia Mian laughed, “That’s because you were drunk, so you didn’t feel it.”

“Getting drunk before a shot makes it not hurt?” Chenchen completely missed the point and looked at Ning Shaoyun with shining eyes. “Then, Mom, from now on, give me wine before a shot…”

Xia Mian: “…”

‘Oops, I’ve spoken wrong.’

Ning Shaoyun pretended to threaten, “How about we go get another shot to test it?”

Chenchen immediately shook his head frantically. “No shots, no shots! Only disobedient kids get shots. I listen to Mom.”

Ning Shaoyun put clothes on the boy, ruffled his hair, and asked amusedly, “Do you really think you’re obedient? What did you do yesterday? Who’s more obedient, you or Xiao Feng?”

Seeing that his mom was about to settle accounts, Chenchen got flustered. His eyes spun a few times, and he suddenly pointed at Mao Huizhu. “I’m more obedient than Huizhu! So she should get the shot!”

Xia Mian: “…”

‘No wonder he’s the male lead—even at such a young age, his logic is flawless.’

Of course, Mao Huizhu wasn’t having it. “You’re the one who’s disobedient, you should get the shot!”

“You get the shot! You get the shot!”

The two started arguing, and eventually, both got so worked up that they shouted, “You get the shot, all of you get the shot!”

Hearing Chenchen blurt that out, Xia Mian quickly reached out to cover his mouth. “Now, boy, don’t forget your attributes. I think you’d better find a way to take that back, or I have a feeling you’re all in danger.”

Chenchen didn’t understand and, of course, didn’t retract his words.

Xia Mian herself had only been joking and didn’t take it seriously.

But when she went to pick up the three that afternoon—who had insisted on going back to kindergarten to reorganize their martial arts tournament—the teacher called her over.

“Two kids in the class caught colds today. It might be the flu. There’s a chance other kids are infected, so please pay extra attention at home.”

Xia Mian glanced at the freshly minted mini martial arts duo and their little apprentice, and a bad feeling rose in her heart.

After returning home, she relayed the teacher’s words to the family. They took it seriously, insisting the children take a packet of Isatis root granules, then temporarily separating them to play alone.

Nevertheless, by the next morning, the three little ones were sitting in a row outside the pediatric clinic at Yan University Hospital.

It was flu season after all. The hallway was full of kids, and inside the clinic, many children were getting the same shots—each crying in their own unique way.

Chenchen, wearing a little mask, clung nervously to Ning Shaoyun, “Mom, I don’t want a shot.”

Ning Shaoyun touched his still slightly hot forehead. “Be good, let’s wait for the doctor to check first.”

Even the normally bold Mao Huizhu was timid at the prospect of injections. Suddenly, she remembered the conversation yesterday and tugged her mother’s sleeve. “Mom, I want to get drunk.”

Xia Wenyue, not present yesterday, was stunned. “What?”

Chenchen immediately chimed in, “Mom, I want to get drunk too!”

“…” Xia Mian guiltily lowered her head to look at Xiao Feng, who was quietly curled up in her arms.

The child also wore a mask, his big eyes smiling into crescents as he looked at her. Aside from a slight fever, he was in good spirits and not much different from usual. His small hand tightly clutched Xia Mian’s finger, and her other hand gently patted his back in comfort.

‘Well, my Xiao Feng is indeed the most well-behaved and cutest!’

Meanwhile, Mao Huizhu and Chenchen kept clamoring about wanting to get drunk. Especially Mao Huizhu—if she weren’t sick, Xia Wenyue might have already smacked her.

Chenchen reached out his little hand and bargained with Ning Shaoyun, “Mom, just a tiny bit, please? I’ll get drunk quickly…”

After all, this mess was her fault, so Xia Mian sighed and said to the two little ones, “No need to drink alcohol. When it’s time for the shot, the nurse’s cotton ball is soaked in alcohol. When she wipes your butt with it, you’ll get drunk.”

Chenchen frowned. “Really?”

Xia Mian nodded solemnly. She had already thought of backup explanations to thoroughly cover her story.

But Chenchen, being thorough-minded, immediately questioned, “Then why are those kids still crying?”

He paused, then emphasized, “They look like it really hurts.”

Xia Mian did not falter, “That’s because their butts can hold a lot of alcohol. Didn’t you say you get drunk with just a little bit? Your alcohol tolerance is low. If you’re worried, you can ask the nurse to wipe extra alcohol on you.”

Ning Shaobai, who came over to check on them, happened to hear this whole exchange and couldn’t help but feel both amused and exasperated.

This girl’s ability to bluff is really…

Xia Wenyue and Ning Shaoyun both had to hold back their laughter. At least for now, Mao Huizhu and Chenchen finally stopped clamoring about wanting to get drunk.
