Before leaving, the doctor and nurse couldn’t help but glance back at Xia Mian—more precisely, they were looking at her bald head.

Of course Xia Mian noticed their glance, but with Xiao Feng here, she couldn’t even cry. Her lips quivered, feeling extremely wronged.

Ning Shaobai held up the razor once again and asked, “So, what’s your decision?”

Xia Mian sniffled, pouted, and nodded tearfully.

Seeing her pitiful yet cute expression, Ning Shaobai hesitated a bit…

…but of course, no such thing happened.

The ruthless Dr. Ning showed no mercy as he quickly shaved off all of Xia Mian’s hair in swift, neat movements. The girl, usually tough-looking, had a surprisingly small and round head. Ning Shaobai subconsciously compared it with his palms and discovered her face was small enough to be covered with one of his palms.

In other words, he could cover her entire head with just two hands.

Amused by this thought, Ning Shaobai chuckled. He then used a towel to clean off the stray hairs, carefully examining his handiwork. Without her hair, Xia Mian’s almond-shaped eyes looked even more pronounced and prettier. Her angry yet helpless look reminded him of the Ragdoll cat his mother used to keep, always wide-eyed and exploded with fluffiness when teased—so pitiful and cute.

“You’re still laughing! Do you even have any sympathy?” Xia Mian patted her smooth head, the silky sensation only angered her even more, “Watch out, I’ll report you!”

Ning Shaobai couldn’t resist patting her head and said seriously, “Clean and neat, very pretty.” Then he burst into laughter.

Xia Mian was fuming.

…

Early the next morning, Xia Mian angrily left the hospital with her bald head, attracting 100% attention. Many looked at her with sympathy. One man, eyes red, said to her, “My daughter too… Stay strong. You all have to get through this…”

Xia Mian blinked, suddenly feeling it was inappropriate to be dramatic in a hospital. But once outside, her still cool head despite the scorching summer made her want to cry: Zhang Qiming!!! Just you wait!

Suddenly, a black baseball cap appeared in front of her, dangling from a slender index finger. Of course Xia Mian recognized this hand; it was the same one that had just mercilessly shaved all her hair…

“What do you want?” Xia Mian asked angrily.

Ning Shaobai’s gaze shifted from the cap to her head. “Do you want it?”

Xia Mian, annoyed, snatched it. “Of course I do!”

Ning Shaobai quickly raised his hand and placed the cap on Xia Mian’s head before she could lose her temper. The cap was too big, nearly covering half of her head. From Ning Shaobai’s perspective, he could only see her small chin, tightly clenched in anger… uh-oh, she was about to explode.

Xia Mian was indeed on the verge of exploding. She suddenly realized something and looked up at Ning Shaobai. “Where did this cap come from?”

Ning Shaobai smiled slightly, a mischievous glint in his eyes. “It’s mine, of course. I had it in my office.”

Sure enough, this guy did it on purpose! The cap was in his office, yet he waited until she walked out of the hospital with her bald head to give it to her?!

Furious, Xia Mian wanted to hit him, but Ning Shaobai extended his long arm and pressed the cap further down, making her unable to see anything.

“Ahhh! You jerk!” Xia Mian angrily twisted the cap back, ready to deliver a good punch. But Ning Shaobai had already picked up Xiao Feng. “Do you think your auntie looks good?”

Without hesitation, Xiao Feng nodded, his grape-like eyes darting around, and he softly said, “Auntie looks good.”

Xia Mian froze for a moment, and Ning Shaobai, barely containing his laughter, said, “I think she looks good too.”

Looks good your ***!!

Xia Mian, fuming, grabbed Xiao Feng and started walking away. The always thoughtful boy carefully adjusted her cap back to its proper position.

Xia Mian: “…”

Behind her, Ning Shaobai couldn’t help but laugh out loud, relieved seeing both of them in good spirits.

Xia Mian, now filled with anger, completely forgot about her fear. She headed straight to the police station, ready to settle the score with Zhang Qiming.

To her surprise, not only was Zhang Qiming there, but Huang Xiaojun was also present. As Xia Mian walked in with Xiao Feng, she heard Huang Xiaojun’s desperate shout, “I told you it wasn’t me! How could I possibly set fire to kill people?!”

When Zhang Qiming saw them, especially Xiao Feng, his expression was one of near loss and panic, as if he had almost lost his most precious treasure. He rushed forward, trying to hug Xiao Feng. “Xiao Feng, Xiao Feng, you scared Daddy to death. I shouldn’t have left you with your aunt. She…”

This bastard’s actually trying to frame Huang Xiaojun for the fire!

Xia Mian instantly saw through his ploy. This time, instead of fear, she was filled with rage. Zhang Qiming was not simply dangerous, he was utterly devoid of humanity! He planned to kill her and Xiao Feng, frame Huang Xiaojun, and then use Huang Xiaojuan’s life for insurance money. Every step was meticulously calculated. To this beast, human life meant nothing!

Xia Mian was utterly furious. As Zhang Qiming maintained his loving father act and tried to hug Xiao Feng, Xia Mian handed the boy to Ning Shaobai, who had come with them. Then, she leaped up, wrapping her legs around Zhang Qiming’s neck, and violently threw the disgusting man to the ground.

Except when facing professional athletes in competition, Xia Mian rarely used her full strength. But of course an inhumane beast like Zhang Qiming didn’t deserve any mercy. Zhang Qiming’s head hit the ground hard, causing him to blacken out for a moment, followed by severe blunt pain in his waist and abdomen. Unlike normal pain, this kind of dull pain accumulated layer by layer, making it impossible to even scream, leaving him in excruciating agony.

The officers at the police station first saw a black cap fall off, then their attention was drawn to the small yet eye-catching bald head beneath it. Only when seeing blood trickling from the corner of Zhang Qiming’s mouth did they react.

“Hey! What are you doing?!” Officer Ding behind the desk shouted, “Liu Hong, Brother Zhang! Quickly stop her!”

Liu Hong didn’t want to intervene; the successive incidents with the Zhang family had made her extremely disgusted with Zhang Qiming. Still, she had a duty to uphold.

Officer Zhang had already run over. Not quite understanding what was happening, he bumped into Officer Ding, who was coming out from behind the desk. “Hey, hey, hey, no fighting! This is the police station!” Officer Zhang bent down to help Zhang Qiming.

Liu Hong watched Xia Mian kicking Zhang Qiming repeatedly and then gazed at her partner in astonishment, as if she couldn’t recognize him.

Officer Zhang glared at her and signaled with his eyes, “Xiao Liu, what are you doing?!”

Liu Hong came to her senses and hurriedly stepped forward to ‘stop’ Xia Mian, ‘inadvertently’ blocking others from getting close. Officer Zhang knowingly glanced at her, and an almost imperceptible smile flashed in both of their eyes.

Eventually, it was Ning Shaobai who made a move. He seized Xia Mian and warned, “That’s enough. If you continue to strike him, we won’t be able to interrogate him.”

Panting heavily, Xia Mian finally stopped and pointed at Zhang Qiming. “Zhang Qiming, you beast! I’m telling you, you won’t escape!”

Zhang Qiming glared at Xia Mian with intense hatred, gritting his teeth and sneering. “Who do you think you are?! We’ll see who won’t escape. Beating me up in broad daylight at the police station, I’ll sue you for assault!”

Xia Mian clenched her fists. “Then I better make sure it’s worth it.”

Zhang Qiming reflexively covered his head.

It was at that moment that Chief Gao’s slightly chubby figure appeared. He walked out of his office with a swagger, frowning at the chaotic scene. “What’s going on here?!” He shouted, glaring at Xia Mian. “How dare you assault someone at the police station! Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you’re a minor!”

When his gaze fell on Xia Mian’s head, he frowned slightly. “Are you looking to get a taste of jail early?”
