Supreme Warrior in the City

The Main God also knew it wasn’t suitable to directly order the Guardian Gods to retreat. If he did that, it might arouse the suspicion of Kunpeng and the others.

So he challenged Kunpeng like this. It looked like a challenge, but in fact it was just to stop today’s battle first; the main purpose was to let his own people go back and rest.

With Kunpeng’s character, he would definitely agree to accept his challenge. That way, they could withdraw their troops in a perfectly aboveboard manner!

It was just that this move of his might fool Kunpeng, but it couldn’t fool Su Yang standing to the side.

Kunpeng had clearly been talked into it and was just about to open his mouth and agree when Su Yang suddenly spoke first: ”As the saying goes, no day is better than today. I think this opportunity right now is perfect, why wait seven days? How about we just fight today!”

Kunpeng froze for a moment, gave Su Yang a surprised look, not understanding why Su Yang was doing this. But he still cooperated very well, nodding hard and shouting, ”He’s right, today’s a good day. Let’s settle this today!”

The Main God shot Su Yang an angry look and said in a deep voice, ”Kunpeng, when did a biped pop up, acting as your spokesman? What’s wrong, have you become livestock of the Human Clan now too?”

As soon as these words came out, the Saint Emperors of the Demon Beast Clan on the scene immediately broke into an uproar. What they hated most was others calling them beasts; the Main God was basically slapping them in the face right in public.

Of course, there were also some Saint Emperors who were displeased with Su Yang. After all, the one the Main God was provoking was Kunpeng; you jumping in at this time, what’s that supposed to mean? In front of those two, do you even have the right to speak?

Su Yang completely ignored everyone’s looks and sneered, ”Lord Main God, I just think that seven days is nowhere near enough for the subordinates behind you to recover their strength. So I’m saying this so we don’t waste everyone’s time. If these people need a few hundred years to restore their power, wouldn’t this battle have to be delayed for a few hundred years? What a waste that would be!”

Hearing Su Yang’s words, Kunpeng’s heart stirred. He hadn’t looked carefully before; now that he took a closer look at those Guardian Gods, they really did look like they were barely holding it together. In other words, their strength was heavily depleted—this was the best possible time to strike.

Kunpeng couldn’t help but give Su Yang another look. He had to admit, Su Yang’s observation was damn meticulous. If Su Yang hadn’t spoken up ahead of time, he probably really would’ve been tricked by the Main God.

The Main God’s expression changed on the spot. He hadn’t expected Su Yang to see through the condition of the subordinates behind him. Now, wanting to run was completely impossible.

He gritted his teeth and said in a low voice, ”Recover our strength? We don’t need to recover anything! Since you’re so bent on seeking death, I don’t mind fulfilling your wish. Kunpeng, you make the call: do we fight to the death today, or battle another day?”

If it had been before, Kunpeng would definitely have been fooled. But this time, Kunpeng wasn’t going to fall for it.

”Cut the crap, of course we fight now!” Kunpeng shouted loudly. ”When your enemy’s sick, you take his life—like I don’t understand that? Brothers, don’t just stand there. These bastards have burned through most of their strength; this is our best chance to turn the tables and slaughter them. Come with me—kill!”

Kunpeng let out a great shout and, without another word to the Main God, charged in first.

Seeing Kunpeng already charging into the fray, the rest of the allied army naturally refused to lag behind. They all roared and rushed forward as well.

The allied army had just been screwed over by the Guardian Gods and already hated them to the bone. Now that they were striking back, they naturally wouldn’t hold anything back; with their morale soaring, their combat power shot up as well.

The Guardian Gods were all panicking now. Their Primordial Energy was severely damaged, their strength badly depleted—how the hell were they supposed to keep fighting?

Very soon, the allied army reached the front of the Guardian Gods’ formation. Although the Main God stepped in to block Kunpeng, he couldn’t possibly stop the entire allied army.

Led by Su Yang, the allied army clashed head‑on with the Guardian Gods. And from the very first exchange, the allied side fully understood what Su Yang had meant; the strength of those Guardian Gods was indeed severely weakened.

The allied army’s morale was sky‑high, while the enemy’s power had dropped and their morale collapsed. With one rising and the other falling, even though the Guardian Gods outnumbered the allied army several times over, the battle still became one‑sided; the allied army steadily and completely suppressed the Guardian Gods.

The Main God’s own strength hadn’t really been depleted, but he was tied up by Kunpeng and had no time to interfere in the melee below.

Watching his subordinates being beaten without the slightest ability to fight back, the Main God’s face grew even uglier. Though unwilling, he finally clenched his teeth and roared, ”Retreat—everyone, retreat immediately!”

In fact, even if the Main God hadn’t shouted, quite a few Guardian Gods were already pulling back and running. Once he yelled, those Guardian Gods bolted even more decisively.

Their morale had already collapsed beforehand; now that they were retreating, they were even more like a routed army.

The allied army chased hard from behind, turning it into a completely one‑sided slaughter, wildly cutting down those Guardian Gods.

This pursuit lasted for more than a month before it finally ended, after the Guardian Gods had lost at least thirty percent of their number.

The allied army still hadn’t gotten enough killing in, but there were simply too many Guardian Gods. It was absolutely impossible for the allied army to completely block them all. Being able to kill thirty percent of the Guardian Gods was already extremely impressive; wiping them out to the last one was simply unrealistic.

And during this entire month, the Main God had been fighting Kunpeng the whole time. Neither could do anything to the other, but neither would allow the other to break away. The Main God was worried Kunpeng would go and massacre the Guardian Gods, while Kunpeng was worried the Main God would go down and interfere with the battle below.

In the end, only after the Guardian Gods had completely escaped did the Main God cease fighting. He looked over the battlefield, now in utter ruins, and his face turned as dark and cold as ice.

Kunpeng, on the other hand, was all smug satisfaction. For this battle, they actually hadn’t held out much hope. In fact, at the very beginning, they’d been in despair, thinking the allied army was going to be wiped out.

Who could’ve imagined the battle would end like this? The Guardian Gods had lost thirty percent of their forces, while the casualties on the allied side were almost negligible. This was a downright crushing victory!

”Old bastard, is this all you Guardian Gods can do? The moment the fight started, you turned tail and ran?” Kunpeng shouted. ”Your numbers are several times ours, your strength is several times ours, but you’ve got no backbone and no guts. That’s not going to cut it!”

The Main God clenched his jaw and glared furiously at Kunpeng. You’ve already won; do you really have to rub it in with that kind of sarcasm? It was infuriating.

But the Main God didn’t have time to waste trading barbs with Kunpeng. In the end, he just fixed Su Yang with a cold stare and slowly nodded. ”Su Mo of the Heavenly War Alliance. Good. Very good. I’ll remember you.”
