Supreme Warrior in the City

Chapter 429: Chapter 428: If I can’t freely exact revenge or show gratitude, what’s the point of my cultivation?

Ye Jiansheng glanced at Old Qi, ”I do not lend my sword to others!”

”Then I absolutely must borrow it!” Old Qi glared back, stubbornly insisting.

”I just won’t lend it to you!” Ye Jiansheng replied crisply.

”Damn, will you fucking lend it or not!” Old Qi, gripping a machete, placed it against Ye Jiansheng’s neck, ”Believe it or not, I will chop your head off!”

Ye Jiansheng’s eyes narrowed slightly before he suddenly landed a punch on Old Qi’s face.

”Ouch, damn it all, how dare you strike me!” Old Qi howled in pain, rushing forward and starting to fight with Ye Jiansheng.

Ye Jiansheng didn’t use any martial techniques, he simply fought Old Qi the way ordinary people fight, giving him a good thrashing.

The onlookers initially laughed heartily, but seeing Old Qi was no match, they started to clamor and surged forward.

”Son of a bitch, dare to hit our brother!”

”Kill him! Kill him!”

”We must kill him, of course. He’s seen what we do here; can we let him live?”

”Kill him! Kill him!”

The crowd, roaring, rushed forward, but at that moment, a figure suddenly charged in, sending several of them flying through the air.

As they hit the ground, all of them were howling in pain.

”Hey!” Ye Jiansheng immediately said, ”Su Yang, what are you doing? They’re just ordinary people without any martial arts skills!”

Su Yang gave Ye Jiansheng a glance; Ye Jiansheng truly left him speechless. Even in the fight with Old Qi, he really hadn’t used any martial techniques, just fought like an ordinary person.

”Ye Jiansheng, I am not you, nor are you me. Don’t try to impose your moral standards on me!” Su Yang said coldly.

”It’s not about my morals, it’s...” Ye Jiansheng began, but then abruptly stopped, frowning, ”Anyway, you’d better not kill the innocent!”

”Innocent? Hahaha...” Su Yang suddenly laughed, pointed at Lin Dong, Da Huang, and the others lying on the ground in the distance, and said loudly, ”Ye Jiansheng, tell me, do they look innocent to you?”

Seeing the situation in which Su Yang had saved people, Ye Jiansheng sighed and said, ”In this mortal world, enmity and affection are unavoidable. If they have done something wrong, the law will deal with them. We are not law enforcers; we can apprehend them, but we don’t have the right to punish them, much less use our strength to kill these defenseless people!”

”Why don’t we have the right?” Su Yang retorted.

”These are the rules of heaven and earth!” Ye Jiansheng declared.

”If the rules of heaven and earth are truly such, then why should I abide by them?” Su Yang spoke gravely.

”Watch your words!” Ye Jiansheng furrowed his brow, ”You must not disrespect heaven and earth!”

”I respect heaven and earth, but have heaven and earth ever respected me?” Su Yang replied coldly, ”This family, they respect the heavens, the earth, the gods, the Buddha, the demons, and spirits. They fear any greater power than their own with reverent hearts. But how did heaven, earth, and the gods treat them? When they were most helpless and pitiable, did the rules of heaven and earth save them?”

Ye Jiansheng sighed and said, ”The vastness of the world doesn’t exist for a single person. Ordinary people need not worry, but you and I, as Taoism cultivators, should be even more constrained by the rules of heaven and earth. Otherwise, wouldn’t the world descend into chaos?”

”Ye Jiansheng, you are wrong,” Su Yang slowly shook his head. ”My Taoism cultivation is not for the sake of abiding by the rules of heaven and earth. If I cannot live a life of passion and settle my grudges with a free spirit, then what use is the path I cultivate?”

Ye Jiansheng was taken aback. He stared at Su Yang for a while and said in a low voice, ”Su Yang, your talent far exceeds Gwu Jihan’s. But your inner demons are also much more severe than his!”

”Are you prepared to break the demons inside of me?” Su Yang retorted.

Ye Jiansheng fell silent for a moment and slowly shook his head. ”The demons in your heart cannot be broken by me. On the contrary, if I continue speaking with you, I’m afraid demons will arise in my heart too!”

”If that’s the case, then stop meddling in my affairs!” Su Yang took a deep breath, turned towards the seven or eight men, and said in a cold voice, ”Jump in!”

”Jump... jump into what...” The men’s faces changed; they had realized that both Su Yang and Ye Jiansheng were no ordinary people. They were finally starting to feel fear.

Su Yang pointed at the burning house in the distance and said coldly, ”Jump in!”

All of them were in a panic. With flames raging, if they jumped in, how could they possibly hope to live?

The leading man mustered up some courage and said with a trembling voice, ”Big brother, we failed to recognize Mount Tai and offended you just now. I apologize here. We... We are men of Chen Lao Da of Yangshan, please show us some face...”

”Okay!” Su Yang nodded, reached out, and grabbed the man, bringing him over. ”You don’t have to jump in just yet!”

The man sighed with relief, but Su Yang then said, ”Now call Chen Lao Da and tell him to come over and meet his death!”

”What?” The man was stunned, but Su Yang did not pay attention to him and pointed at the others, ”You all, jump in now!”

The crowd was dumbfounded. They had thought that the matter had been resolved when Su Yang told that man he did not have to jump, thinking Su Yang was afraid of Elder Chen. But unexpectedly, Su Yang still wanted them to jump!

The leading man said with a trembling voice, ”Big brother, Elder Chen is Lord Zhang the Fifth’s brother-in-law. By doing this...”

”Then call Old Zhang as well, and tell him to come here and meet his death too!” Su Yang said coldly.

Everyone was shocked. That was Old Zhang we’re talking about! Su Yang was standing on Old Zhang’s territory, and he dared to say such words? He dared to ask Old Zhang to come and face death? Had he gone mad?

Who was Old Zhang? The unquestioned leader of this area, his strength rivaled that of Pingnan Province’s seven major leaders.

Moreover, the most important thing was that Old Zhang mainly ran underground boxing matches, and his subordinates could indeed be described as numerous experts.

These men might not have known the identities of Su Yang and Ye Jiansheng, but they had a feeling that these two could be skilled fighters.

But, no matter how skilled they were, could they really compare to Old Zhang? Old Zhang’s experts were many, just a handful could be a force to reckon with. To go against Old Zhang, had they not heard that two fists can’t beat four hands?

”Are you sure you want me to call Old Zhang?” The lead man said coldly. ”Make sure you understand that once this call is made to Lord Zhang the Fifth, there’s no turning back. Lord Zhang is not as reasonable as my big brother...”

Before the man had finished speaking, Su Yang suddenly grabbed his neck, lifted him, and threw him into the sea of flames.

”Ah! Ah! Ah!” The man screamed horribly, rushing out in a hurry.

But after taking only two steps, Su Yang casually picked up a small pebble and hit him in the shoulder with it.

This time, Su Yang intentionally used explosive force. The pebble struck the man’s shoulder, causing his skin to split and flesh to rip open, revealing the bones beneath. Naturally, most of the bones were crushed, making for a particularly gruesome sight.
