Brother Dao Took the Entertainment Industry by Storm, Fans Beg Me Not to Kill Anymore

”These devices seem to be fixed directly in place, so how is she supposed to rest later?”

After roughly checking the special effects fur all over the other person’s body, Xiao He asked with some concern.

This ”inhuman creature” wasn’t just strangely shaped; it also had a separate external ”spine” attached to its back, making it look extremely rugged, like a beast hunched over, ready to attack at any moment.

Given the current state of this person, it seemed unlikely they could even sit in an ordinary chair, let alone find a place to lie down and rest.

But today, they would definitely be filming related scenes all day long. And in this sweltering weather, they couldn’t just leave someone standing like this the whole time, could they?

”We’ve naturally considered that too!”

Another staff member responded, and then a few other workers carried something up from downstairs—

Xiao He followed their movement and saw that what they had pushed up was actually a swing!

Of course, calling it a swing wasn’t quite accurate. It was simply two triangular railings made of steel bars, with a rope tied across the middle. The whole thing looked very basic, but Xiao He understood at once. This way, the specialty actor could just sit on the swing, leaving other parts of their body hanging in the air. It was convenient and prevented them from actually sitting on a chair, which might rub off the other special effects props behind their back and below their waist.

”The production team really thinks of everything.”Xiao He couldn’t help but nod.

With a place to rest, and the air conditioning running constantly in this dilapidated building, the actor wouldn’t have too hard a time.

During his few days in Hong Kong, Xiao He had come to realize just how humid and hot it was there. Especially in July—it truly felt like everyone was living in a steamer, suffocating from the heat.

Having the courage to participate in special effects filming in such hot weather really took a lot of guts.

”Actually, Director Zhuang even said that after we finished the makeup, she should go wait in the lounge upstairs for a while,” Feng Songyue said, crossing her arms with a hint of regret. ”Unfortunately, this task is just too massive, and the rest of you arrived early as usual. We only just finished her makeup when you all showed up. There’s really no surprise left at all.”

Xiao He was confused for a moment, then immediately caught on. His mouth twitched slightly as he said in disbelief, ”Director Zhuang—don’t tell me you were planning to have her jump out once filming started and catch us completely off guard?!”

”Cough, cough—”

Feng Songyue let out a light cough, not answering this obvious question. But as luck would have it, Zhuang Hongyi arrived at the production team just then.

Seeing the group huddled together, he immediately came over to check the situation.

As expected, he found Xiao He and the others already standing at the entrance.

”How are you all already here?”

Zhuang Hongyi quickly glanced at Xiao He, then looked over at the specialty actor who had already ”sat down,” and said with great regret, ”Didn’t I tell you all to come to the set a bit later today? Why is everyone here so early?”

Xiao He was speechless, having seen through everything.

Sure enough! Director Zhuang had planned to use this character to give them a good scare!

And honestly, if they were to film according to the atmosphere set in the script, when this ”inhuman creature” suddenly appeared, everyone really would be terrified.

It was hard to say about the others, but Xiao He wasn’t sure if, after being scared, he might not subconsciously throw a physical exorcism punch first.

”Director Zhuang, you wouldn’t happen to be that kind of director—the one who deliberately hides a ghost or monster before filming, then suddenly jumps out during the actual shoot to scare the actors, making it easier for them to get into the scene—would you?”

Xiao He asked rather gloomily.

But unfortunately, Zhuang Hongyi’s face was especially thick. Faced with such a jab, he just raised an eyebrow slightly and answered calmly, ”Wasn’t I just helping everyone get into character faster? But this time, my good intentions really went to waste. I didn’t expect the makeup time to run a bit later than planned.”

Feng Songyue quickly explained from the side, ”It’s too hot in Hong Kong, and the actor’s face tends to sweat, which could cause the glue to loosen. So I applied several extra layers to ensure the facial special effects makeup wouldn’t fall off. I really did my best here.”

Zhuang Hongyi coughed lightly. ”So, since we didn’t manage to scare you, if you’re not in character when filming starts, I’ll just have to find a few dogs to chase you around.”

Get that adrenaline pumping.

Xiao He: ...

The other two actors: ...

Uh, hey, is there any chance we’re still sitting right here?

Director Zhuang, aren’t you afraid people will say the production team is mistreating actors if you openly announce you’re setting dogs on us?

But clearly, Zhuang Hongyi hadn’t gotten where he was by being humane.

By the time Xiao He and the others arrived at the next set, it felt like even the air they breathed in the corridor carried the chill of death.

—

This entire corridor was deep and narrow, stretching on without an end in sight. The walls on either side were clean and bare, resembling the decoration style of a hospital hallway. Even the only light fixture overhead was an old-fashioned warm-white bulb, swaying back and forth in the wind that occasionally swept through the corridor, flickering on and off.

And this main hall corridor, which should have had people passing through, had become so empty, as if it had suddenly turned into an abandoned site. Yet before they came, there had been doctors, nurses, patients, and family members moving about upstairs. But this one floor alone was desolate and empty, as if it had been forgotten by the entire hospital.

”Whoa—”

The young woman walking in the middle rubbed her arms, carefully observing her surroundings while subtly inching closer to the back of the person in front of her, seeking a sliver of security. But she only felt as if some icy, sinister thing was tightly wrapped around her entire body, making even her breath feel sluggish.

Zhou Zhiyi had a toothpick dangling from his mouth, his steps steady, looking utterly indifferent. He just slightly tilted his head and slowed his pace a little.

”Did you sense anything?”

Behind the young woman was the Fat Man, also wearing a short-sleeved shirt. Though it wasn’t that cold here, he too could feel the invisible, deathly stare lurking in the air. So he couldn’t help but clutch the talisman paper in his hand while lowering his voice to ask the young woman.

”No, nothing. There’s nothing here at all.”

The young woman’s gaze swept back and forth across the environment. Though it was eerily ”clean,” all she felt was fear and dread.

As someone born with Yin-Yang Eyes, the two places she hated going to the most were hospitals and cemeteries.

Because that’s where the most ghosts gathered.

Pretending not to see those ”things” among a group of normal people was still quite difficult for her.

Especially when facing those terrifying ”dead people,” she simply couldn’t bring herself to open her eyes and walk right through their ”bodies” as if nothing had happened.

So if not for the big order from her client this time, she really wouldn’t want to come here.

Even when she came downstairs just now, she had already run into several ”guys.”

But...

The young woman frantically grabbed at the clothes of the person in front of her, her voice trembling, her gaze involuntarily darting around. ”Zhou, Bro Zhou, it’s so quiet here!”

For a hospital to be this ”clean” was completely abnormal.

—Unless there was something even more terrifying hiding here!
