Danmachi: The Focalors Familia Starting from the Dungeon

A shooting star tore across the void. At first, it burned with that familiar, heart-sinking shade of blue...

Aiden’s heart plummeted.

But then, the blue light flickered and seamlessly transitioned into a majestic, regal purple.

We’re in business! Aiden’s eyes lit up.

Finally, under his intensely expectant gaze, the purple comet violently exploded into a blinding, dazzling golden radiance.

”Gold light! It’s gold! I hit gold!” Aiden was so excited he nearly jumped out of his skin.

A magnificent, golden magic circle expanded across the living room floor, filling the air with a sacred, solemn aura. Seeing the brilliant light, Robin and the others couldn’t help but smile. It seemed their Captain’s luck hadn’t completely bottomed out after all.

Within the pillar of light, a tall, valiant silhouette slowly took shape. As the radiance dissipated, a stunning young woman stood before them. She had blonde hair woven into a long braid, clear blue eyes, and was endowed with a massive sense of ’justice’. Her beauty wasn’t born of fragility, but of an awe-inspiring heroism and purity forged in the crucible of fire and prayer.

”Jeanne d’Arc, answering your summons.”

The young woman—Jeanne—slowly opened her sapphire eyes. Her gaze locked directly onto Aiden, instantly recognizing the faint, undeniable tether linking their souls.

”—Are you my Master?”

Aiden’s heart did a violent backflip, and he nearly choked trying to suppress a grin. Hearing the legendary, iconic line in person was almost too much. He forced his face into a mask of reliable stoicism and nodded solemnly. ”That’s right. I am your Master.”

Even if it was just in a game... but that doesn’t matter. ”Hello there, Sister Jeanne. I’m Robin, the Vice-Captain of the Focalors Familia.” Robin rolled her eyes affectionately at her Captain before stepping forward with a warm smile, extending her hand to the newcomer. ”Welcome to our home. I assume you already have a basic understanding of our situation?”

Being summoned to this world meant she was automatically granted basic knowledge of her new reality. Jeanne was quite familiar with this process. After all, in her own world, being summoned as a Servant by the Holy Grail came with the same influx of modern knowledge.

Except, this time... she could clearly feel that she hadn’t been summoned by the Grail. She wasn’t a Servant, nor was she a Heroic Spirit. She could feel her heart beating powerfully in her chest. She could breathe in the sweet scent of the room, and she could feel the solid weight of gravity keeping her feet firmly planted on the ground.

This was a living, breathing human body—the very body of the young girl named Jeanne before she marched to the pyre.

Despite the shock rippling through her heart, Jeanne quickly accepted her new reality. In truth, every girl summoned by Aiden possessed an exceptionally high threshold for accepting the bizarre.

Looking at the legendary Holy Maiden standing before him, Aiden felt a strange, wondrous ripple in his own heart. He finally understood that the system truly pulled these characters directly from the games he had played. To Robin and the others, Aiden was the Trailblazer, the Proxy, the Master, the Captain, the Doctor, the Admiral, the Traveler, and even the Rover...

”Welcome, Miss Jeanne,” Tifa stepped forward to greet her. Her gentle smile was like a spring breeze, capable of instantly soothing anyone’s anxieties. ”I’m Tifa Lockhart. We’re all family now, so please take care of me.”

”Hi there, Jeanne-bao!” Hyacine chimed in, using her signature, overly familiar greeting. ”I’m Hyacine! Nice to meet you!”

”Jeanne... bao?” Jeanne blinked, momentarily thrown off by the nickname.

”It’s just Hyacine’s special nickname for her friends. Don’t worry about it,” Aiden chuckled, smoothing over the confusion.

Faced with the genuine warmth of the two girls, Jeanne’s formal expression softened. She returned their greetings gracefully. ”Thank you all. The pleasure is mine. Please take care of me as well.”

Finally, it was the patron deity’s turn. Focalors approached Jeanne with elegant strides. Her eyes held the deep, all-encompassing benevolence unique to a true god.

”In the name of Justice, I welcome your arrival, Holy Maiden from a foreign land,” Focalors’ voice was solemn yet melodic. ”From this day forth, the Focalors Familia is your home. Now, come with me. Let me carve the grace of the gods onto your flesh, so that your radiance may shine upon this world once more.”

Taking Jeanne’s hand, she led the blonde knight into the back room.

It wasn’t long before the door opened again, and Focalors walked out with Jeanne trailing behind her. Meeting the curious gazes of Aiden and the others, Focalors wore a bright, irrepressible smile. She handed a parchment detailing Jeanne’s status over to them.

The moment they read the contents, Robin’s perpetually composed face broke into genuine shock. Tifa and Hyacine immediately leaned in and gasped out loud. Even Aiden, who had mentally prepared himself, was utterly floored by the status board.

They were all golden-tier summons, but the sheer number of magic and skills Jeanne possessed dwarfed Robin, Tifa, and Hyacine—she even outclassed Aiden himself.
