Beastmaster of the Ages

The Divine Sun Palace flew above the flaming clouds. Wudi stood at the entrance and peered at the universe’s depths, where there was a blood-red point. It was the Heartfiend’s astralship, which hadn’t left yet.

“Now that the wasteland bug is dead, that astralship’s our last problem,” Wudi said.

“What should we do?” There was a gentle and dignified woman behind him—the celestial orderian empress. She had been helping Wudi and his son manage the celestial orderians.

“When Tianming’s done with the Kunlan Lake, we’ll use the Ninedragon Imperial Tomb to destroy that astralship. Then, we’ll set off. Even if the Heartfiend survives, he won’t be able to catch up to the sun.”

“Yes.”

The two looked toward Kunlan Lake, which had been swallowed up by thick mist. The mist had turned into a fierce storm, which meant the final major battle was underway.

“I can tell that their love is very strong. The girl is stubbornly hanging on to life so they can stay together. She has a very strong will,” the empress said.

“Yes! They eloped, so if my son can’t bring back a daughter-in-law, there goes the family name!” Wudi said. He turned around and saw the empress’s head lowered, her face red.

“Why’re you looking at me like that?” Wudi asked.

The empress softly said, “When should your wife start serving the sovereign?”

Wudi shivered and his face twitched. “What are you thinking? I’m not your sun emperor.”

“Yes…. But sovereigns don’t die.” Her head was still lowered.

“He died,” Wudi seriously said.

……

In the wondersky realm of the mysterians, the Heartfiend was reporting to the face in the pool of blood. His voice was filled with grief as he reported the Blood Abyss Wargod’s death in battle.

The person in the pool of blood was silent for a very long time after hearing it. If the news made it back to the mysterians, it would shake the entire cluster. A youth that wasn’t even thirty years old had slain the Blood Abyss Wargod, the ruler of more than ten skypiercer-class worlds!

The Voidsky Organization had lost its head.

Was the sun an ancient star or the tomb of experts?

“I request the patriarch’s guidance!” The Heartfiend fearfully knelt.

“You can retreat. There’s no need for you to stay when the enemy astralship is strong.”

“But Patriarch, the Voidheart Worm Plan failed and the Eye of the Blood Abyss was captured. When Li Tianming is done with that lake and the sun leaves, we may never find them again!” The Heartfiend shook his head, full of unwillingness.

“We can find them. They can’t escape.” The person in the lake was calm.

“Patriarch?” Heartfiend lifted up his head with an expression of disbelief. “Once that ancient star leaves, it’ll be like a fish in the sea. How will we find it? It may even head east and leave our Mysterium Cluster. That’s forbidden ground for us!”

“Yes. Hence, we have to get help from the wonderians. They can move through the Xenoworld, so it’s much easier for them to find someone.”

“The divine wonderians? Patriarch, they’ve left Violetglory. The wonderians can only track Violetglory’s fusion formation.”

“That’s unnecessary, nor does it have anything to do with Violetglory. The wonderians mentioned that a very huge gate to the Xenoworld appeared in our Mysterium Cluster and a xenofiend king descended. I checked the star map and that was the location of the sun that Qiang provided. The sun may have moved, but the wonderians can track the Xenofiend King’s aura. They can also pursue by traveling through the Xenoworld.”

“They can even do that? The wonderians have incredible abilities at their disposal.” The Heartfiend praised.

“Yes. We can’t imagine their miraculousness,” the person in the pool said,

“Will they take half the spoils then?”

“No. We plan to make a personal transaction with some familiar contacts in the wonderians. We’ll promise them Tianming’s sword, but Skyway Quadstar will be ours.”

“That’s great! The admiral can rest in peace then.”

“Yes. No one can dream of escaping this net!”

……

The Heartfiend flew away with his astralship, surprising Wudi and the rest.

“He gave up?”

“That’s... unlikely.”

“They must have another method in store then! What could it be, since Da Huang was executed?”

“I can’t imagine it.”

“Let’s just wait for Tianming.”

Everyone focused their attention on Kunlan Lake. The bitter fight for survival inside had clearly reached its final stage.

Tianming had already been in the mist for a very long time and his body was covered in water droplets. The cyclic bugs seemed to be rampaging all around him, emanating a terrifying aura even though they were merely formed of mist. Countless leech-like bugs all slithered around him like serpents.

“Where are you, Ling’er?” He carried the pink egg as he made his way around, but he couldn’t find her. The entire city seemed to have been overrun by the bugs that were still continuing to pour out of the Well of Reincarnation, filling the gray mist with their chitters.

Fortunately, the pink egg was there to guide Tianming. It was also anxious, like a baby in childbirth struggling together with its ‘mother’.

The cyclic bugs kept passing by them. Even though they were made of mist, Tianming felt like flesh was brushing against him.

“Ahead!” Tianming forced his way forward through the storm.

The cyclic bugs had come together to create a tornado, tearing and ripping as they let out a strange sound that stabbed at the soul.

Tianming entered the storm, squeezing his way past the bugs. “Ling’er!”

He had finally arrived. A woman was lying on the altar ahead. Her body was pale and powerless, and the colorful wings on her back had dimmed down. The cyclic bugs swirling around her had their maws open, devouring her spiritual energy alongside Perpetia City.

She was in grave danger. But Tianming wasn’t in the true battlefield, so could she see him?
