The Good for Nothing Seventh Young Lady

The Barren Land ushered in a new group of guests.

A procession of hundreds of people swarmed into the Barren Land. One luxurious carriage was guarded by everyone; it sat in the center of the team.

A handsome and wealthy looking young man who was inside the carriage opened the window and looked at the scenery outside, his brows furrowed slightly.

”This is the Barren Land? Aren’t people saying that this Barren Land is very dangerous? But I don’t see any demons attacking. It’s not that much after all.” The young man said rather disdainfully after sitting steadily inside the carriage.

There were another two people sitting in the carriage. A middle-aged man in his forties heaped a flattering smile and looked at the young man, “Your Highness, although the Barren Land is dangerous, you have the State Preceptor at your side. The State Preceptor’s power is so strong that no demons dared to approach.” After speaking, the middle-aged man looked at the over fifty-year-old man, who was also in the same carriage, quite flatteringly as well. The old man who seemed to have an outstanding behavior, like that of immortals, nodded his head.

The middle-aged man was Li Qi, the special envoy that the Long Xuan Empire sent to the Barren Land. When he learned that he was going to be sent to this kind of place where even birds didn’t poop and demons were everywhere, he almost cried his eyes out.

In the end, what he did not expect was that the only son of the current Emperor, Prince Long Yue unexpectedly asked to go together with his team. The Emperor originally would not comply no matter what. But later on, due to the stubborn insistence of Long Yue, he just let the State Preceptor, Pei Yuan, stay at Long Yue’s side and accompany him to the Barren Land.

In the Long Xuan Empire, people who possessed Mythological Beasts were of great importance. The five great clans were such, and Pei Yuan also. Therefore, this time the Emperor had made Pei Yuan come together with Long Yue to ensure the Prince’s security.

Pei Yuan threw Li Qi a sidelong glance noncommittally.

“The State Preceptor is naturally very powerful. Don’t know if that little girl named Shen Yanxiao is any good. Can she actually build a city in the Barren Land?” Long Yue was fifteen years old, exactly the age at which his curiosity was at its peak. He felt really surprised when he heard that a 13-year-old girl was actually going to build a city in the Barren Land.

“Shen Yanxiao is a member of the Vermillion Bird Clan. We weren’t at the scene of this year’s school tournament. As for happened in the end, it is unclear.” Li Qi smiled and spoke, implying another meaning between his words.

”Oh? Is it possible that the Vermillion Bird Clan bribed other players?” Long Yue caught the strangeness in Li Qi’s tone, which implied that there was something fishy about the matter.

”I didn’t say that,” Li Qi replied. Although he said this, whether it was his expression or tone, it seemed to confirm Long Yue’s speculation.

In every school tournament each year, elites of each school came out to participate. Could Shen Yanxiao, who was only 13 years old, really rival the elites all over the country so easily? No one in the Imperial Capital believed that Shen Yanxiao’s win was due to her own strength. Everyone was laughing and ridiculing that all this was the work of the Vermillion Bird Clan Head, Shen Feng. In order to add luster to the Vermillion Bird Clan, he manipulated the game secretly.

”How much I persisted to come, but the other person is just a straw bag[1] in the end.” Long Yue disdained.

[1] useless person, idiot.

”That is, how can such a silly little girl compare with your Highness? If His Majesty allowed his HIghness to participate in the school tournament this year, the victory would have been yours.” [Raz-P: Ha! Funny.] Li Qi continued to busy himself with flattering and coaxing the future Emperor in order to have an opportunity for advancement for himself in the future.

“By the way, I heard that Shen Yanxiao girl sent a letter to father and said that she had successfully entered The Rising Sun City.” Long Yue had always sat up high in a leading position. Even among his peers, he felt that he was still absolutely the superior one. He had always thought that his talent was the strongest, and it was totally unacceptable for someone to surpass him.
