Who Let Him Play Yugioh? (Re-Upload)

The whole next week, Jaden spent his time at KaibaCorp.

Luckily, the school year had ended and it was vacation, so his studies weren’t affected. Besides, Jaden usually liked to stay at the academy during breaks anyway—he said his parents were always busy and never home, so going back was boring, and at least at school he had company.

So whether he was hanging around the academy or KaibaCorp, it was all the same.

KaibaCorp had set up a special team to research Jaden’s new deck from the stars. They were also interested in Kira Lab’s Neo Spacian deck and were considering starting a joint project with KaibaCorp to develop it further.

Neo Spacians, as a main-character deck, had huge development potential and had been buffed many times over the years. Even if, by today’s standards, they’re considered casual, they’re still cards from many generations ahead, so they’re pretty powerful in the past.

In theory, Jaden was the best candidate to research the Neo Spacians, given his destiny and compatibility. But as mentioned earlier, Jaden wasn’t cut out for research. Rather than stick him in a lab with Misawa, it’d be better to just let him duel more.

So the Neo Spacian research would wait.

Meanwhile, the duel spirits had gotten chummy.

The Dark Scorpions who hung around Kira even went to chat with the aliens.

”So, you guys really are from space?” Chick whispered to Dolphin, who floated behind Jaden.

Dolphin smiled kindly. ”Yep, we’re from Neo Space.”

”Oh, that must be far from Earth?” Chick nodded. ”Your journey must’ve taken a long time.”

”Not really. We Neo Spacians have pretty advanced interstellar travel tech.” Dolphin was talkative.

”…Impressive.”

Chick couldn’t think of anything else to say.

After a second’s pause, he whispered in Dolphin’s ear: ”You know, your monster effect is strong and unique. But honestly, you’d be even more effective in our master’s hands. You two would be a perfect fit…”

”Haha, really? Then I guess it’s fate.”

Dolphin didn’t react to the attempted poaching, just smiled politely. After all, he and Jaden were fated partners; switching sides was impossible.

Chick retreated, a little disappointed. Dolphin’s ability was so infuriating—if only he could join his master, there’d be so much fun to be had.

What a pity…

On the other hand, the dark web’s intel system didn’t let Kira down—or rather, it didn’t let Revolver down.

Kira found that, as Revolver, he actually had pretty good connections; all his dark web ”friends” went all out to help him.

But the investigation result was surprising.

The Society of Light’s base he was looking for wasn’t hidden somewhere remote—it was right under a KaibaCorp subsidiary’s building, in an underground facility.

Talk about hiding in plain sight.

When Mokuba heard this, he was shocked and wanted to send people to investigate, but Kira stopped him.

He didn’t trust others—with good reason.

At least in the ”Light of Destruction” arc, Sartorius and his subordinates showed terrifying brainwashing abilities. Their mind control didn’t affect a target’s original thinking, but more like rewriting their personality.

With such skills, it wouldn’t be surprising if they’d infiltrated KaibaCorp.

With the address confirmed, Kira skipped the stealth tactics and went straight to the door.

Of course, his ”knock” might have been a bit too strong—the door blasted open under his force, and Kira strode directly into the underground facility.

He knew at once he was in the right place.

The facility was immaculate, glaringly bright. Every room was pure white, spotless, making anyone feel like just stepping inside was sacrilege.

”Huh, weird, no one home?” Dark Scorpion leader Don Zaloog glanced around, hand on his chin.

”Maybe they just stepped out for something,” Chick whispered.

Kira frowned slightly, silent. He walked slowly inside, not sensing any sign of life.

”Wait.”

Meanae suddenly gestured for silence.

”Do you hear anything?”

Kira stopped. The Dark Scorpions held their breath.

The air was quiet; you could hear a pin drop, except for the faint sound of breathing… and a barely noticeable ticking sound.

Don Zaloog’s pupils constricted.

”A bomb!”

”Those bastards set a—”

Boom!

The explosion swept through the room like a fire dragon, engulfing Kira.

”Got him!”

Across the street, in the shadows, a white-uniformed underling grinned smugly at a burly man beside him.

”I’m sure that ’Revolver’ guy walked right in and took the full blast!”

The underling was excited, but the big man next to him was expressionless.

”I told you, this is more useful than cards…”

”Nani!?”

He didn’t even finish his sentence; the underling almost bit his tongue.

Because he saw, in the fire and smoke, Revolver calmly walking out, striding towards them.

The flames licked over him but left not a mark. Just like the Terminator in a movie.

The underling was petrified.

Is this guy Superman or what?

Are all duelists this outrageous!?

The big man, though, wasn’t surprised at all; he just smirked.

”I knew it. If Revolver could be taken out by a shoddy trap like that, Lady Sarina wouldn’t have bothered sending me.”

”Oh? So you were waiting here for me?” Kira asked.

”Correct.”

The man raised his Duel Disk.

”My name is Roxen, branch president of the Society of Light. Do you accept my challenge, Revolver?”

”Interesting. I had a feeling this would end in a duel.”

Kira smiled and activated his Duel Disk.

”Duel!” x2

[Kira, LP 4000]

[Roxen, LP 4000]

”Then I’ll go first,” Kira said.

”Draw.”

He glanced at his card, then nonchalantly placed it on the Duel Disk.

”I set a monster in face-down defense position.”

A monster’s hologram appeared on the field.

”Then I set a card face-down in the back row. Turn end.”

He gestured for Roxen to begin.

”Come on. Since you’re so confident, let me see what’s so special about your dueling.”
