Supreme Sword Exalt

Although the first Profound Heaven Sword Chief was not the most exceptional, he had far-reaching vision and a magnificent bearing. As soon as he assumed the position, he implemented various measures to address the predicament.

On the surface, he continuously dealt with provocations from numerous factions. In private, he visited all corners of the Profound Heaven Great Domain, befriending many people and secretly formed alliances with many small and medium-sized factions. He even took out the sword stele and declared that every sword cultivator, without exception, would have a single opportunity to comprehend it.

Gu Han felt sincere respect. Simply offering such a treasure for others to comprehend was enough to place his generosity and bearing above that of countless others.

Fatty sighed repeatedly. “Such a naive man! Considering how important the stele is, he should’ve charged one saint herb for each comprehension... What a loss—a huge loss!”

Gu Han agreed. “Indeed!”

Respect was respect, but he also felt like one couldn’t be overly generous. If saint herbs was too much to ask, then he could’ve asked for half-saint herbs and Transcendent Substance instead.

Couldn’t be bothered with the two money-grubbers, Chongming went on explaining. The first Sword Chief’s measures proved to be effective, as fewer and fewer people came to provoke them.

Moreover, countless sword cultivators flocked to the sword stele, drawn by its reputation and eager to witness its supreme sword dao. More than half of these people ultimately stayed. In the end, over seventy percent of cultivators within the Profound Heaven Great Domain were sword cultivators. As a result, the first Sword Chief established extremely strict entrance rules. When it came to disciples and students, they valued quality, not quantity.

Chongming’s eyes showed a trace of regret. “What a pity. When he went out, he encountered misfortune and died. It wasn’t until several decades later that a young man came to the Profound Heaven Great Domain carrying the Sword Chief’s seal, and only then did we learn of his death. That kid was the second Sword Chief he personally selected.”

No one knew how exactly he died, but the young man brought back his final words. First, the patriarch would become the young man’s dao guardian for a thousand years. Second, the next Sword Chief could only be personally selected by the previous Sword Chief, and no one else could interfere. At the same time, after selecting the Sword Chief, he would also serve as his dao guardian.

Gu Han’s had mixed emotions. Only now did he truly understand how significant it was for the old blind man to become his dao guardian.

Chongming said with emotion, “That idiot was so heartbroken after his disciple died. After protecting that kid for a thousand years, he abandoned the position of sect master to investigate the first Sword Chief’s death and never returned.”

The three felt heavy.

“What happened after that?”

Chongming thought for a moment. “Not much to say. Although the Profound Heaven Sword Sect had few members, every sword cultivator it produced was stronger than their peers. Of course, they grew stronger and stronger.

“Not only did they govern thirty-six small domains, but they also hosted the Sword Assembly once every thousand years, becoming the sword dao Holy Land in countless people’s hearts. Their prestige was extremely great!

“As for the Profound Heaven Sword Chief, what had originally been created to fool people eventually became the symbol of the sect. The Profound Heaven Sword Sect could do without a sect master, but never without a Sword Chief! Things took a turn with the eighth Sword Chief.”

“What problems?”

“He went astray while comprehending the sword stele. He insisted on deducing the origin of that sword mark and then went crazy!”

Gu Han and Fatty were taken aback, then suddenly thought of the old blind man’s dao guardian mentioned earlier.

“Could it be—”

Chongming said irritably, “Yes! He was completely irresponsible. He just had to go crazy right before the Sword Assembly. In the end, they couldn’t even find him anymore. At that time, Little Yun had been cultivating for less than a hundred years, far from being ready to succeed as Sword Chief. Of course, those from the subordinate sects started having ulterior motives.”

As the sword dao leader of the domain, it wasn’t an exaggeration to say the Sword Chief was the future number one in sword dao. The Profound Heaven Great Domain had many sword cultivators, and too many geniuses and heroic talents to count. Since he was focused on cultivating, Yun Jiansheng rarely appeared before others and had never made a move. Naturally, he faced doubt.

Fatty was a bit excited. “Then what? How did the old man react?”

“No reaction.”

“Huh?”

“If a mortal doubted your talent, what would you do?”

Fatty didn’t even think. “Give him a beating!”

Gu Han and Chongming were speechless. Even Yan Qi, who was flying just fine, tilted and nearly fell down. That’s so Fu Yulin!

Chongming couldn’t be bothered to deal with him anymore. “In Little Yun’s eyes, these people never existed. No matter how great your talent or how stunning you are, compared to him, you’re no different from a mortal! There are two kinds of geniuses in the world. One called Yun Jiansheng, and the other...”

He looked at Fatty and Gu Han. “Called everyone else.”

Fatty looked wronged. I, with nine rings of the Dao Bell, don’t even deserve a name in front of the old man?

Gu Han didn’t laugh at him. Instead, he patted Fatty’s shoulder in consolation. It’s not like I have one either.

Chongming reminisced again. “The Sword Assembly was one of the grand events in the Profound Heaven Great Domain. Many ancient and hidden traditions from around the domain came to observe the ceremony. That was also the first time those two met.”

“Who?”

“Her name was Shi Feiyu.”

Chongming remembered this event particularly vividly. Shi Feiyu was the new Holy Maiden of the Xuanji Ancient Saint Dao in the Shujun Ancient Realm. Her aptitude was unmatched in ten thousand years, and her beauty could topple nations.

Despite meeting for the first time, it felt as though they had known each other for years. They chatted and laughed endlessly, never running out of topics. From then on, love took deep roots, impossible to undo.

Fatty stroked his double chin. “Love at first sight? I don’t believe in that. Besides, with the old man’s looks... Master Rooster, you’re not very convincing.”

Chongming was furious. “What the hell do you know?! When Little Yun was young, he was...”

He glanced at Gu Han. “Ten times more handsome than you!”

Gu Han couldn’t say anything back.

Chongming glanced at Fatty again, eyes full of disdain. “As for you... Forget it, I won’t even say it.”

Fatty was taken aback. You don’t even have to speak to insult me?!

“That girl was cold and aloof to everyone, only having eyes for Little Yun. His peers naturally grew envious. They caused trouble at the beginning of the assembly, using the pretext of seeking guidance, wanting him to lose face in public.”

If the Sword Chief was defeated by his peers in public—no, even a tie would make him lose all face.

Fatty kept shouting, “Master Rooster, I’d never take that lying down!”

Gu Han deeply agreed.

Chongming rolled his eyes. “You really think Little Yun has no temper? He rarely met a girl he liked. After being disturbed, he also got angry.”

“He finally did something?”

Chongming thought for a moment. “Yeah. He severely punished the masters and fathers of those genius monsters, saying they didn’t discipline their children well and should go home and reflect. Oh, right, one more thing. He didn’t even use his sword.”

Gu Han and Fatty looked at each other. They felt that in front of the old blind man, they really didn’t seem to deserve names.

Chongming added, “It wasn’t even arrogance. He just couldn’t find a suitable sword.”
