Chapter 2201: Chapter 2202: The Cooking Saint’s Trial! (Double Update)

“Brother Ling, in a couple of days, your arm will be completely healed. At that time, we can delve into the matter of deciphering the Forbidden-breaking Pill…”

The Ghost Doctor seemed considerably more cheerful, occasionally sporting a smile, which was quite refreshing for the people of Evil Valley.

Although Ling Feng had only been here a short while, it seemed that subtle changes were indeed occurring within Evil Valley.

“I’ve been busy treating Kuang Xue, the old fellow, and ended up putting aside the matter of breaking your Sealing.”

The Ghost Doctor’s eyes carried a hint of apology.

“No problem, I’ve been sealed for so long already, there’s no urgency for a day or two.”

Ling Feng smiled faintly. Though the thought of not being anxious was impossible, there seemed no need to rush.

Moreover, his arm was not yet fully recovered. If it trembled during the refining of elixir, all the painstakingly gathered spirit flowers and herbs would be wasted.

“By the way, brother, for the next couple of days, why not come help me out here?”

It was the Shura Chef Saint Pao Niu, patting his own round belly and casting a smiling glance at Ling Feng.

“Whatever you need from me, just say the word.”

Ling Feng looked at Pao Niu, a bit curious as to why he was suddenly sought out, but there was surely an undeniable connection to Muu God Monarch.

If there was a test left by Muu God Monarch with the Blood Demon Hand, then certainly there would be a similar trial awaiting him with Pao Niu.

Ling Feng was somewhat eager, wondering what kind of test the Shura Chef Saint would give him.

Surely there must be something worthwhile to learn from the Shura Chef Saint.

Not long after, the luncheon ended, and everyone went their separate ways. Yeu Junyao glanced at Ling Feng, a hint of schadenfreude in her eyes, and departed with a smile.

The saying goes, wise men steer clear of the kitchen; what good could come of this?

As for Chu Chaonan, his gaze held a hint of sympathy, lip-syncing a message to Ling Feng: “Good luck!”

As expected, Pao Niu tossed a rag to Ling Feng, saying casually, “Brother, clean the dishes here later and tidy up the kitchen; I’m going to take a nap.”

With that, Pao Niu turned and entered his room, and soon the sound of “snoring” echoed out.

This fellow, actually fell asleep!

“…”

Ling Feng’s forehead darkened—washing dishes…

Tidying the kitchen…

What kind of tasks are these!

He’s the Alliance Hierarch, for heaven’s sake!

Taking a deep breath, Ling Feng, although feeling helpless, had promised to help Pao Niu, so he must follow through.

As they say, no task is insignificant—even washing dishes is a form of cultivation!

However, upon moving the dishes into the kitchen, Ling Feng’s forehead furrowed even deeper.

The kitchen was so greasy it was appalling!

Additionally, there wasn’t a drop of water left in the water tank!

On the wall next to the water tank, a note was pasted: Fetch water from the mountain!

“So, is this the test left for me by Pao Niu? Testing my patience?”

Ling Feng took a deep breath, striving to remain calm, and grabbed the two wooden buckets beside the water tank.

Upon lifting them, Ling Feng was surprised to find there were a few Engravings on the wooden handles. The Engravings flashed a golden light, forming Chains that tightly bound his hands.

Suddenly, those originally light wooden buckets felt as heavy as mountains!

No doubt, Ling Feng nearly stumbled, almost falling to the ground.

Even with Dragon Elephant Divine Power activated, he still felt almost breathless.

“I’m supposed to use these for water fetching?”

Ling Feng’s forehead was blackened—this is far too heavy!

What he learned from the Blood Demon Hand was explosive power, but in this scenario, it’s useless.

Estimating carefully, to fill the water tank, about ten buckets are needed, meaning he needs at least five trips.

Moreover, with these two buckets binding his hands, he couldn’t be clever and store water in the Spirit Storage Ring, then secretly place it in the tank.

Ling Feng gritted his teeth, wasting no time, and took off towards the mountain, lugging the unbearably heavy wooden buckets.

These five trips could very well cost him his life!

Luckily, the route to the mountain wasn’t far; at Ling Feng’s pace, one round trip took about 15 minutes.

At the stream behind the mountain, Ling Feng filled the buckets to the brim and hurried back to the kitchen.

But upon returning, he encountered an even more despairing situation.

The bottom of the bucket had a barely noticeable small Hole!

En route back, most of the water had leaked out!

“This is ridiculous!”

Ling Feng was on the verge of collapse; no wonder the buckets felt lighter on the return—turns out they were leaking!

And to make matters worse, these cursed buckets couldn’t be discarded because of the Golden Chains binding his hands.

“Looks like this isn’t just a test of strength, but of speed as well!”

Ling Feng took a deep breath; when returning, he must increase his speed as much as possible to minimize water leakage.

Only in this way can the number of trips needed be reduced.

Once!

Twice!

Thrice!

Time passed, bit by bit!

…

Ling Feng felt he was nearly exhausted, yet the water in the tank was less than half-full!

“Darn it, this won’t do! It’s not time to rest yet!”

Ling Feng gritted his teeth and continued running through the paths of Evil Valley, from noon till dusk.

Occasionally, he’d encounter a couple of Evil People from the valley. These fellows played their “Evil People” roles too well, deliberately tripping him or tossing a watermelon rind or banana peel in his path, causing him to spill hard-earned water everywhere.

Though angry, Ling Feng knew it must be a test for him.

And, even getting angry would solve nothing.

He couldn’t beat them!

As nightfall neared, Ling Feng returned to the kitchen once again, pouring the water from the buckets into the tank.

Finally, the tank was filled to capacity!

Crack!

Crack!

Two clear sounds; the Golden Chains binding his hands finally unlocked automatically.

Apparently, the Sealing Array automatically releases once the tank is filled.

“Thud! Thud!”

The two wooden buckets fell to the ground, and Ling Feng collapsed heavily.

Today, he was utterly spent!

Yet Ling Feng didn’t hit the ground, instead landing in a sturdy, broad embrace.

It was none other than the round belly of the Shura Chef Saint!

“Little guy, you worked hard all afternoon and only filled one tank? You’re really not up to snuff, are you?”

The voice of the Shura Chef Saint sounded in Ling Feng’s ear, and his head darkened with bitterness, “Senior, I…”

“Alright, alright, no need to explain; just head back for tonight. Tomorrow morning, go to the mountain to chop wood and fetch another tank of water—remember, finish by noon!”

The Shura Chef Saint impatiently glanced at Ling Feng and spoke sternly.

“This… “

Ling Feng gritted his teeth, wondering if he’d find rest tonight?

Given today’s water-fetching ordeal, chopping wood is bound to be no easy task either!
