Chaos Heavenly Emperor Technique

Chapter 1447: Chapter 1448: Contribution Tax! (2 Updates)

At dusk, Ling Feng and his party returned from the Land of Conquest, heading toward their residence.

Due to the recent operation in the Death Soul Demon Abyss, in which they killed the Barbarian Emperor Aluyin, who could control snakes, insects, rats, and spy on intelligence, the Barbarian Clan lost this advantage. On the frontline battlefield, they could no longer anticipate the enemy’s moves, and the previous decline was finally somewhat reversed.

Furthermore, Hui Yue Saintess used the Moon God’s Dream Entering Technique to infiltrate the Barbarian Clan, successively killing more than a dozen Barbarian Emperors, greatly damaging the Barbarian Clan’s Primordial Qi.

Therefore, the Barbarian Clan, which originally allied with the Demon Clan and came aggressively, now began to gradually show signs of decline at this moment.

As the saying goes, ”Those not of our tribe are surely of a different heart.” The alliance between the Barbarian Clan and the Demon Clan was never truly solid; at best, it was merely a community of interest.

After the severe damage to the Barbarian high-level, the Demon Clan began to find excuses to delay their deployment, and even occasional small conflicts occurred at the border between the two sides.

Although the Demon Clan has shed its beast forms, its essence is still Demonic Beasts, which are difficult to tame, and coupled with the defeats on the frontlines, the trust of the Demon Clan in the Barbarian Clan gradually crumbled. The seemingly mighty Demon Barbarian Alliance started to fall apart.

Of course, this had nothing much to do with small teams like Ling Feng’s. Although they accomplished the task in the Death Soul Demon Abyss and gained recognition from the upper levels, due to their relatively weak overall strength, the so-called Inner Sect elite teams could only perform ”battlefield cleanup” tasks once they entered the Land of Conquest.

As for battlefield cleanup, it naturally involved entering the battlefield again after battles to eliminate those Barbarian soldiers not yet dead or encountering and annihilating enemy reconnaissance teams.

In short, it was merely small-scale combat, making it hard to accumulate any serious merit.

At this moment, Ling Feng and his team had just finished cleaning the battlefield, returning from the Land of Conquest.

”Ha, so many wolves and so little meat. Besides teams like us sent by the Inner Sect, those veteran elite teams are also cleaning the battlefield, competing with us for those meager contribution points.”

Chu Tiange sighed lightly, muttering in complaint, ”It’s really tough to earn contribution points! I really hope for another task like the last one in the Death Soul Demon Abyss!”

”Oh my...”

Xu Xinghe rolled his eyes, recalling almost dying in the Death Soul Demon Abyss gave him a chill, ”Old Chu, you still don’t think last time was exciting enough!”

”Hehe...”

Princess Qianling covered her mouth and giggled, ”Senior Brother Xu, this is called once bitten by a snake, ten years afraid of a rope!”

Xu Xinghe shook his head with a bitter smile; Princess Qianling hadn’t been in the Death Soul Demon Abyss, so naturally, she didn’t know the dangers involved.

But Lee Fei’s brow furrowed slightly, worrying, ”Junior Brother Ling, the other day in the Conquest Treasure Vault when that veteran elite disciple angrily left, is it really okay?”

”Why be afraid of him! We chose the treasure first, why should we give it up to that guy!”

Before Ling Feng could speak, Lin Mu sneered disapprovingly, ”If he really had the skills, he would have acted at that moment. In the end, he talked tough a hundred times but still ran away with his tail between his legs?”

Ling Feng raised his hand to touch his nose, saying calmly, ”If soldiers arrive, use generals to block; if water comes, use earth to cover.”

Lee Fei nodded slowly, ”Yes, after all, this is the Hall of Conquest; they don’t yet have the guts to cross the line.”

The person they were discussing was naturally Yuwen Liang, who went to complain in front of Donghuang Xuanyi.

This person, having seen the same treasure in the Conquest Treasure Vault as them, wanted Ling Feng and his team to give it up, relying on his higher seniority.

If it had been other disciples, they might have obediently handed over the treasure, but unfortunately, he encountered Ling Feng.

Ling Feng naturally wouldn’t budge, thus causing a rift.

Hence, there was the incident of Yuwen Liang going to find Donghuang Xuanyi, but Ling Feng still didn’t know that he had already caught the attention of a Great Emperor Strong in the Hall of Conquest.

The group continued to return to their residence.

From afar, even before reaching the cave, they heard a burst of exclamations ahead.

”What? Contribution tax?! This is absurd; what contribution tax? I’ve never even heard of it! Don’t bully people too much!”

Ling Feng and his group exchanged glances, all recognizing the owner of this voice.

This loud and brash style could only belong to Bai Qi, who was ranked thirteenth on the Creation Star List.

These Inner Sect elites lived nearby, and their caves were not far from one another. When not on missions, they would practice spars outside the caves in a small martial arts field.

At this moment, the originally narrow martial arts field was particularly crowded, with groups of disciples huddled together.

A sharp-faced, crafty-looking man stood opposite Bai Qi, smirking coldly, ”What, you rookies only get missions because we seniors generously let you have them. Otherwise, do you think you could earn a single contribution point? So, extracting a contribution tax is only natural and reasonable, isn’t it?”

”Exactly! Brother Yuwen is right!”

The henchmen accompanying Yuwen Liang immediately echoed loudly, creating a wave of cheers. Meanwhile, the disciples of the Inner Sect elite teams turned pale, clenching their fists tightly.

The contribution points they earned were already scarce, and now they were being exploited by these damned bastards!

Bai Qi trembled with anger, gritting his teeth, ”Nonsense! This is pure nonsense!”

”Nonsense?”

Yuwen Liang unleashed his aura, pressing down on Bai Qi to the point he could barely breathe, then coldly said, ”Don’t you know that strength is the real reason? Hand over the contribution tax willingly, or else you can forget about receiving any mission in the Task Hall! Even if you go to war, on the battlefield, blades have no eyes; if you lose an arm or a leg, you’ll only have your lack of strength to blame.”

”You!”

Bai Qi clenched his fists tightly; that last line from Yuwen Liang was a blatant threat!

”Heh, for every mission executed, you must hand over half of your contribution points to honor us seniors. This way, you can sleep easy! In this Hall of Conquest, just mentioning Senior Brother Donghuang’s name will let you move about unimpeded!”

Upon hearing Yuwen Liang’s words, the faces of the disciples turned ashen. The contribution points they painstakingly earned were to be split with these ”bloodsuckers”!

”Why don’t you just rob us!”

Bai Qi trembled with rage; despite being considered arrogant and domineering, he hadn’t expected to encounter these so-called senior brothers, who were the true ruthlessness, the real evil!

”It is robbery, so what?”

Yuwen Liang reached out, pressing down on Bai Qi’s shoulder, and squinted with a cold smile, ”Those who understand the situation are wise. Kid, think about how you choose!”
