Chapter 1235: Chapter 1236: Island Survivors! (Second Update)

The two of them stopped talking further and continued along the dense forest by the coast. The forest here was lush and verdant, yet there were no Demons or the like in existence, which was in stark contrast to the Miracle Sea rumored to be filled with peril.

After all, the so-called Secret Realm, the so-called Ancient Ruins, were mostly filled with various Fierce Beasts and Monsters, but this small island was too quiet, even eerily quiet!

”It seems to be a deserted island.”

Lin Mu, at some point, had already plucked a blade of grass and was chewing on it, nonchalantly said, ”Brother Ling, we should head back first!”

”Wait!”

Ling Feng’s gaze tightened and he discovered, at the end of the forest ahead, there was a wooden cabin built along the river, and even around the cabin, there was a Medicine Field!

”It looks like there’s someone here!”

Ling Feng gazed intently, expanding his Unlimited Vision, and discovered that behind the wooden cabin, there was also a Medicine Field. An old figure, appearing with white hair, was waving a hoe, cultivating something in the Medicine Field.

Lin Mu apparently also noticed this, a slight hint of surprise showing in his eyes.

Inside the Miracle Sea, there were still living people?

Five hundred years ago, the Miracle Sea was an area within the Inner Sea. Although it was an Ancient Ruins, it wasn’t isolated from the outside world. Perhaps someone got stranded while exploring and later reproduced within the Miracle Sea.

In addition, there were several cities like JiuMuu City that fell into the Miracle Sea due to space collapse. Thus, there should still be quite a few humans trapped inside. If they survived, it’s not surprising to find humans appear in the Miracle Sea.

Ling Feng and Lin Mu exchanged a glance and quickly headed towards the wooden cabin.

Perhaps from the mouth of this old woman, they could learn something about this island.

As they got closer, the two realized that the old woman was merely an ordinary person without the slightest cultivation, her whole body shriveled, complexion sallow, appearing extremely weak.

So much so, that as Ling Feng approached her, she seemed oblivious.

”Dear old lady...”

Lin Mu casually walked up and greeted the old man, only to hear the old woman scream in panic, directly frightening her into falling into the Medicine Field, scrambling backward in terror, and then flying into the cabin, slamming the door shut heavily.

”Uh...”

Lin Mu touched his handsome face with a helpless expression, ”People used to say I’m a lady killer, and I didn’t care. A handsome guy of my caliber is clearly every woman’s arch-enemy. But now, I believe it. Brother Ling, it seems with the older ones, you’ll have to step in.”

Ling Feng’s mouth twitched slightly, glaring at Lin Mu with annoyance, and glanced around, noticing there didn’t seem to be any valuable Spiritual Medicines planted in the Medicine Field, mostly ordinary herbs with large roots, edible.

It seems, the old woman relies on consuming those herbal roots to barely survive.

And beneath the soil of the Medicine Field, something white could be glimpsed. Ling Feng noted it slightly and then strode forward, gently knocking on the door, ”Dear old lady, my friend and I mean no harm. We were transported here by a Teleportation Array and would like to ask you about the island’s situation.”

Inside was silent. Ling Feng and Lin Mu waited for a while, and the old woman inside realized they had no intention of forcing their way in, sensing no malice, she cautiously opened the wooden door.

The old woman looked at them tremblingly, slowly said, ”You’re really not here to capture me?”

”Capture you? Why capture you, are there others on this island?”

Ling Feng was slightly taken aback, taking a closer look, he noticed the old woman had a rusty dagger hidden in her sleeve. He shook his head with a smile; even if she were to stab him with it while he stood still, it probably wouldn’t pierce his skin.

The old woman clenched her fists nervously, taking a deep breath, and finally said, ”Come in and talk first.”

While speaking, Ling Feng clearly saw the old woman, though very frail, had extremely sharp teeth, interlocking canines, not like human teeth at all. (PS: Referencing the dried persimmon pufferfish character from Naruto.)

It might be due to a long time of eating only hard objects.

”Thank you!”

Lin Mu strode into the wooden cabin, Ling Feng nodded slightly at the old woman and followed inside, taking a look around. He found the interior quite worn down, nearly bare except for some simple furniture.

However, the floor was very cleanly swept.

”Please, have a seat.”

The old woman, realizing they meant no harm, relaxed notably and hurried inside, then brought out two cups of hot tea, placing them carefully on the table before Ling Feng and Lin Mu, slowly saying, ”This tea is brewed from unique fruits of our island, please enjoy.”

”Thank you!”

Lin Mu picked up a cup and drank it at once, Ling Feng pursed his lips, glanced at the tea in the cup, and took a sip, smiling, ”Thank you for your hospitality.”

The old woman still seemed somewhat cautious, staring at them, ”Did you say you came here via a Teleportation Array?”

”Yes.” Ling Feng nodded, ”While training, we accidentally stumbled into a valley, activated a Teleportation Array, and ended up transported to this island. May I ask where exactly this is?”

Until he ascertained this old woman’s identity, Ling Feng didn’t fully reveal the truth; surviving here was already a peculiar thing.

”So, it’s just you two then?”

Seeing Ling Feng’s candid demeanor, the woman finally said, ”Ah, you are truly unfortunate, to be transported to this ghostly place.”

”Ghostly place?”

Ling Feng feigned surprise, ”I think the scenery here is very nice, there’s no danger. Why call it ghostly?”

Lin Mu nodded exaggeratedly, ”The mountains and waters are beautiful here, with the sea not far off; it’s a sea-view property outside, very expensive!”

The old woman sighed softly and continued, ”You young masters may not know. My name is Ma Chunhua, originally from Heavenly Pond Island. During the chaos there, I fled on a small boat and eventually drifted to this island. I’ve lived here for nearly ten years.”
