Nine Star Hegemon Body Arts

Long Chen and Su Yu stood atop the broken down city walls. There was no longer any need to conceal themselves—not that they could have, as the barrier was down for good.

Only the core members of the Four Cardinal Alliance were aware of Long Chen’s arrival. The people in the alliance were all shocked to see someone standing alongside Su Yu.

Many of the people here had no trust whatsoever in Su Yu’s qualifications as a commander. Nevertheless, the Four Cardinal Alliance was at an unprecedented level of power. Although there were many factions in the alliance and they all competed for power, the alliance as a whole was a real behemoth. Half-step Heavenly Sovereigns could not be expected to be fully obedient, but at the very least, they had to maintain a modicum of courtesy toward Su Yu.

Yet now, there was a youngster standing alongside Su Yu, and Su Yu had a smile on her face that none of them had seen before. They could easily tell that she held utmost respect and reverence for this person.

“Who is that guy?”

“How can he stand alongside the commander?”

“The heavens can only have one sun, and the people only have one king. How dare he stand alongside her?”

Many people felt that Su Yu was treating her position lightly. Others felt that this black-robed fellow clearly didn’t know his own status.

“Wait... doesn’t he look familiar? No... What the hell, is that really him?!” someone suddenly yelled out. Then, he suddenly slapped his own mouth, and his eyes showed utter disbelief as well as excitement.

“Who? Is he really that amazing?”

“If it really is him... Ha, then all of us should kowtow to the heavens in thanks for this blessing!” said the first speaker.

Someone next to him smacked him on the back of his head, clearly impatient. “Will you cut it off already?! Tell us who he is?!”

“Who else? The number one junior of the nine heavens and ten lands! Who else could it be?”

“Long Chen?!”

A startled cry rang out, followed by a resounding pow! The first speaker had immediately slapped the one who had called Long Chen’s name. “How dare you say his name without an honorific?”

It’s freaking Long Chen!

He was the most controversial person in the nine heavens and ten lands. Some worshiped him, some loathed him, but at the very least, no one questioned his power. Thus, when that person brought him up, everyone knew they were in for a good show. As long as Long Chen was here, then this battle would be won, and it would be a landslide victory.

The various leaders of the Four Cardinal Alliance immediately began to gather towards him. An elder quietly drew close and bowed to Long Chen before speaking up. “Greetings, Dean Long Chen. I am—”

However, Long Chen waved his hand and cut him off. He didn’t even look at the elder.

“I am temporarily taking charge here. Everyone must obey my orders. Anyone who defies me will be killed.”

This elder was the vice master of a middle-tier sect. He could be considered someone with status, and being interrupted left him irritated. But Long Chen’s voice had a bone-chilling tone to it that made him shiver, and he wisely decided to keep his feelings to himself.

Just like him, the other leaders were all shaken. If they knew one thing about Long Chen, it was that he was not a mild-mannered person like Su Yu. He was a devil king. He had killed more lifeforms than they had ever seen before, and the foundation of his reputation consisted entirely of corpses. If he said those who disobeyed would be killed, then they would be killed. Even half-step Heavenly Sovereigns were no exception.

Su Yu looked at them in disbelief. They had all argued and refused to listen to her no matter how she presented her plans, yet the moment Long Chen showed up and said a few words, they were all as meek as lambs.

She suddenly recalled Long Chen’s previous words. Without enough power to crush all opposition, you could not be compassionate.

She suddenly recalled Long Chen’s previous words: If you don’t have the power to crush all opposition, then you also can’t afford to be compassionate. Finally, she understood what the others had known all along—she was simply too soft. Those who wanted to lead needed an iron grip that could crush all opposition, and she was not ruthless enough.

She wanted not just a victory here, but a victory with the least casualties possible. She wanted to bring back as many people alive as she could. Yet this very compassion had become a weak point that others took advantage of. How could she not feel aggrieved? And now, just like that, Long Chen had made her understand that a commander who couldn’t even get people to listen to their orders was only a joke.

Thinking of how they had dared to debate and vote on her orders, she felt a wave of disdain toward herself. She had just stood there, watching them discussing her orders, and feeling insignificant. By contrast, when Long Chen appeared, no one dared to even blink if he forbade it. Why was that? Because they knew Long Chen wouldn’t let them get their way. Anyone who defied him would have their head rolling on the ground.

Before, many people had threatened to leave the alliance. Yet now, even though they knew they could be sent to die the next moment, they didn’t even have the courage to bring it up. There were some youngsters who wanted to speak up, but their seniors immediately clamped their mouths shut. Let alone a disciple, even a half-step Heavenly Sovereign might be killed by Long Chen if they dared to speak up. It would be a perfect chance for him to establish dominance.

By now, the battlefield was reaching a fever pitch. The Heaven Transcension Sword Sect was surrounded, and those who had good relations with them had gone to reinforce them. They had thought that if they all moved out, Su Yu would have no choice but to launch the attack in advance. That way, they were currying favor with the Heaven Transcension Sword Sect. Yet as the fight dragged on, they began to notice that Su Yu was not mobilizing anyone. As the number of outsider devils increased around them, they started to panic.

Finally, someone fighting let out a heaven-shaking roar. “Su Yu, you’re just going to watch when your allies are in danger?!”

Su Yu’s expression was ice-cold. She didn’t say a word. After blatantly disobeying orders, they were telling her to help them? And they dared to say that she didn’t want to help her allies? If Long Chen hadn’t come, she probably really would have clenched her teeth and given the order. After all, if they did all die while they sat back and watched, the Four Cardinal Alliance’s reputation would be affected.

Just then, she felt her heart skip a beat, and her eyes widened. She suddenly realized that she cared too much about the alliance’s reputation. That concern turned into shackles binding her hands. Meanwhile, Long Chen could hardly care less what people said about him. He only did what he wanted to do. That was the biggest difference between the two of them. The commander position came with a crushing responsibility, yet Long Chen did not seem to feel the pressure at all.

By now, the Heaven Transcension Sword Sect and the others had been fully surrounded by outsider devils, and they were taking heavy losses. The Heaven Transcension Sword Sect’s master was now truly panicking; if the rest of the alliance still didn’t come to assist them, they would definitely die. The half-step Heavenly Sovereigns might be able to survive, but everyone else would be doomed.

“Su Yu, you bitch! If you still don’t come over, I swear I will annihilate your whole sect!” he roared furiously.

In response, Long Chen’s voice rang out loud and clear. “Mobilize the arrow towers and cannons! Attack!”

“You can’t!” a half-step Heavenly Sovereign immediately shouted in objection.

The next moment, he exploded into a blood mist. Following that, countless arrows and cannons shot towards the battlefield, striking friend and foe alike with no discrimination.
