Ascending to Godhood: I Can Foresee All Futures

Chapter 420: Chapter 219: I Want to Command All the Prefecture’s Troops

Chen Sheng waited patiently, his expression calm.

He knew his request was somewhat out of line, but it was a necessary condition to ensure the plan could be carried out smoothly.

The previous operation against Luoyun Manor had been possible only because they had colluded with water bandits, the evidence was conclusive, and their actions had simply gone too far. The Government Office needed to make an example of them, which was the only reason all parties had temporarily cooperated.

But a full-scale purge of the other Jianghu influences would inevitably throw all of Ning’an into turmoil. The Prefecture Government Office and the Military Preparation Army, in their desire for stability, would most likely respond passively or even oppose it.

Without the authority of unified command, Chen Sheng would be constrained at every turn.

The hall fell silent for a moment, the only sound the soft tapping of Chu Zhengnan’s fingers on the table.

After a long moment, Chu Zhengnan finally stopped, raising his head. His gaze had once again become sharp and decisive.

”Fine. I will grant you full military and political authority. As for the Governor of Yunzhou and the garrison commander, I will speak to them myself!”

”But once you return to Ning’an, you must act with lightning speed and break the deadlock as quickly as possible.”

He had been in Yunzhou for over a year now, and he needed some concrete results to report to the court.

A sharp glint flashed in Chen Sheng’s eyes. He stood, bowed deeply once more, and his voice rang out, firm and clear.

”Your subordinate obeys!”

...

Just as Chen Sheng accepted this heavy responsibility at the Jingwu Bureau headquarters in Yunzhou City, about to take command of all military and political power in Ning’an Prefecture and unleash a thunderous storm...

...the distant Ning’an Prefecture had already been plunged into a whirlpool of turmoil.

Since Chen Sheng’s departure with Nie Xiangjun, Sun Yuzhi had also entered seclusion to seek a breakthrough, leaving only two Profound Mastery experts, Nie Xuanfeng and Li Jizhou, to hold the fort at the Jingwu Bureau.

The abbot of Golden Spring Temple, which had been quiet all this time, quietly returned at this very moment.

Immediately after, Golden Spring Temple and Qingfeng Temple received clear instructions from their backers.

They held another secret meeting and quickly formed an alliance.

Afterward, Golden Spring Temple and Qingfeng Temple began to jointly suppress the Iron Sword Sect, the Danxia Sect, and the Ning’an Wang Clan.

They seized their resources and crushed their influence.

Then, the two factions began stirring up trouble in multiple locations throughout Ning’an Prefecture, secretly instigating chaos and disrupting the ruling order.

This was the counterattack of the Jianghu influences.

A counterattack against the Government Office for brazenly annihilating Luoyun Manor!

Qingfeng Temple and Golden Spring Temple needed to let the Government Office know that they weren’t the only ones who called the shots in Ning’an. Without them, Ning’an would never know peace.

In an instant, the Jianghu of Ning’an Prefecture was overcome with fear and paranoia.

The Iron Sword Sect’s ore veins were attacked, the Danxia Sect’s medicinal fields were destroyed, and the Wang Clan...

The three factions were in a desperate state, their interests severely damaged. Left with no other choice, Lu Qingsong and the others finally resolved to jointly seek an audience with Chen Sheng and accept his previous proposal to unite against Golden Spring Temple and Qingfeng Temple.

However, they were destined to come away empty-handed this time.

Chen Sheng was far away in Yunzhou, Sun Yuzhi’s whereabouts were unknown, and the Jingwu Bureau was being managed by Nie Xuanfeng.

Although Nie Xuanfeng had the support of the Nie Family, he was facing a prepared, joint assault from Golden Spring Temple and Qingfeng Temple. Furthermore, he had to maintain basic order in the Prefecture City, making it difficult for him to launch a full-scale counterattack.

Even more unexpectedly, at this chaotic juncture, the Blood River Sect—a Demon Dao force that had vanished for some time—also decided to fish in troubled waters, suddenly appearing on the borders of Ning’an Prefecture.

They perpetrated several bloody massacres, making the situation even more convoluted and shrouded in mystery.

For a time, the Government Office, the sects, the Noble Families, the Jianghu, and the Demon Dao were all thrown into a chaotic mess.

If not for the five thousand well-equipped and highly-trained Military Preparation Army soldiers from the Prefecture City forcefully suppressing the chaos, Ning’an Prefecture would have likely already descended into total turmoil.

Golden Spring Temple had originally planned to take advantage of the situation to move against Chen Sheng and eliminate this thorn in their side.

But they learned he was no longer in Ning’an and had traveled far away.

Having no choice, they could only temporarily suppress their killing intent and focus their energy on suppressing the other factions, all while secretly building up their strength for the moment Chen Sheng returned.

They were preparing to strike him with a thunderous blow then.

Little did they know, Chen Sheng was planning the very same thing.
