Path To Godhood Begins With Marrying Wife And Gaining SSS Rank Skill

For a few moments no one spoke.

The twin swords rested in Ethan’s hands and their golden crimson glow reflected faintly across the forging chamber walls in shifting patterns. The heat from the forge had not fully settled yet but the atmosphere in the room had changed completely. It was no longer tense and pressing. It felt heavy in a different way, the kind of heavy that comes after something significant has been finished.

Rathlos was the first to step forward.

His eyes were fixed on the blades and for once there was no sarcasm in them and no doubt either. Only disbelief sitting plainly on his face as he looked at what was in Ethan’s hands.

“You actually did it,” he muttered.

Otlo walked closer as well with his steps slow and careful, as if he was afraid to disturb something that deserved more respect than a casual approach.

“This is not just a weapon,” he said quietly, his eyes moving along the length of the blades. “It feels alive.”

Mareti lowered his staff and looked at Ethan and then at the swords with a measuring expression. “A growth-type weapon with a draconic soul and dual form,” he said. “Even among legendary weapons, this stands at the top.”

Ethan did not reply immediately. He turned one of the blades slightly and watched the faint glow ripple along its surface like water disturbed by a slow current. The hum from the weapon resonated with him in a way that felt less like sound and more like a second heartbeat running alongside his own.

“It’s stable,” he said after a moment.

Rathlos let out a short breath and shook his head. “Stable? You call this stable?” He looked at the blade again. “This thing could probably cut through half a mountain without effort and stop pointing at me.”

“It is making me tingle!”

Ethan gave a faint smile. “Then don’t stand in front of it.”

That made Otlo chuckle lightly while Mareti simply shook his head without any particular surprise in it.

Rathlos however remained quiet. His gaze stayed on the swords and something in his expression had gone still and thoughtful in a way that was not common for him.

“You know,” he said slowly, “if you had told me a few months ago that you could forge something like this, I would have called you insane.”

Ethan glanced at him. “You still can.”

Rathlos snorted faintly but there was no sharpness in it this time and no edge behind it.

A brief silence settled over the room.

Then Ethan spoke again. “Wait here.”

He turned and walked toward the side of the forge without further explanation. Rathlos frowned slightly and watched him go.

“What now?” he said.

Ethan did not answer. Instead he opened a sealed compartment near the forging platform and inside, wrapped carefully in a heat-resistant cloth, lay another weapon. He picked it up and brought it back toward the group.

“This was made earlier,” Ethan said, holding it out.

Rathlos blinked. “You already forged another one?”

Ethan nodded. “I adjusted it for you.”

He unwrapped the cloth slowly and the sword inside was revealed. It was immediately clear that this one was different from the twin blades in every way.

The body was dark, built from a deep black metal that seemed to pull light inward rather than reflect it outward. The blade was sleek and slightly curved and faint shadow-like patterns moved across its surface in slow continuous motion, like mist drifting just beneath glass. The edge carried a dull shimmer but the aura around it felt sharp and cold and very deliberate.

Mareti’s eyes narrowed slightly as he studied it. “This one carries shadow properties.”

Ethan nodded. “I refined it using shadow-aligned materials and layered enchantments.”

Rathlos stared at it for a long moment without speaking and then looked at Ethan. “You made this for me?”

Ethan held it out toward him. “Take it.”

Rathlos did not move immediately. “You’re serious?”

Ethan looked at him plainly. “It matches your fighting style.”

There was a pause and then Rathlos stepped forward and took the sword from his hands. The moment his grip closed around the handle the weapon reacted visibly. A faint dark aura spread outward along the blade and the shadow patterns across its surface shifted and rearranged slightly, as if recognizing who was holding it and adjusting accordingly.

Rathlos’ eyes widened just a fraction. “It resonates with me.”

He swung it lightly once and the blade cut through the air without making a sound, leaving behind a faint trailing shadow that dissolved slowly after the swing.

“This is perfect,” he said quietly and there was clear and unguarded satisfaction in his voice for the first time.

Ethan nodded once. “Use it well.”

Rathlos glanced at him again and then back at the weapon in his hand. “I will.”

Otlo folded his arms and shook his head with a grin spreading across his face. “One for himself and one for his subordinate. Both insane.”

Mareti let out a quiet breath. “You prepared this in advance.”

Ethan shrugged slightly. “I had the time.”

In fact this sword had been forged as part of a trial process and there had been many failed attempts along the way before it came together properly. The amount of materials he had gone through and wasted in the process would probably have made Rathlos’ blood run cold if he ever found out the full number.

Thankfully he had managed to craft a successful one in the end and it had come out well enough to suit Rathlos properly.

Ethan rubbed the side of his nose quietly. Am I not thoughtful, he thought to himself.

Rathlos looked at the sword one more time and then tightened his grip around the handle with a steady and deliberate pressure. “I won’t waste it.Thanks for the gift.”

“Gift!”Ethan paused a bit and grinned.

“What gift?”

“I will be cutting the money from your salary.”

Rathlos looked at Ethan if he was joking however Ethan did not respond to that. He simply turned slightly where he stood with the twin swords still in his hands and their glow burning steady and calm in the warm air of the forge.
