Path To Godhood Begins With Marrying Wife And Gaining SSS Rank Skill

“My pride belongs to me, and it’s got nothing to do with him. How can I allow someone to ignore me?”

Damor roared as he tried to block her renewed assault. His arms shook under the pressure as Amber went completely crazy, her attacks growing more reckless and more violent. Each clash echoed like thunder, and the ground beneath them cracked under the strain.

Meanwhile, Ray and Florence stood frozen in place, their attention suddenly ripped away from the fight. A chilling presence washed over them, and both of them felt their blood turn cold. Slowly, they turned their heads.

Rayon had appeared right in front of them.

His face was twisted with killing intent, and his eyes were locked onto Ray like a predator staring at its prey. The air around him felt sharp and suffocating.

“Dieeeeee.”

The word tore out of his throat as he moved his arm. In a swift motion, a sharp rapier appeared in his hand, its blade gleaming with a deadly light. Without hesitation, he thrust forward.

Swosss-

The rapier shot through the air, aimed straight at Ray, slicing through the space between them with terrifying speed.

Seeing the rapier slashing toward him, for a moment Ray’s mind seemed to freeze, and it refused to budge. His eyes widened as the sharp glint of the blade reflected in them, yet his body did not respond. He tried to move, tried to step back or raise his hands, but his entire body was locked in place, frozen by fear.

Fear.

Yes, fear of death.

There had been countless instances where he had faced danger before. He had been injured, threatened, and pushed to the edge more times than he could count. But this was the first time he was truly seeing it. This was the first time he could clearly feel death rushing toward him without hesitation.

As the rapier tore through the air toward him, Ray felt time slow in a way he had never experienced before.

The battlefield sounds faded. The clashes, the shouting, the explosions, all of it became distant noise as if the world itself had stepped away from him. Only the approaching blade remained clear in his vision, shining coldly as it rushed closer.

His body refused to move.

He wanted to step back. He wanted to raise his weapon. He wanted to do anything.

But nothing happened.

His muscles locked, and fear rooted him to the ground.

So this… is death.

The realization settled quietly inside him, and it did not come with panic at first. Instead, it came with a strange heaviness that pressed against his chest.

He had faced danger before. He had stood on battlefields filled with corpses. He had fought enemies stronger than himself and walked away alive countless times.

Yet none of those moments felt like this.

Back then, survival always felt possible.

Now, there was none.

Death was not distant anymore. It was not a story told by veterans or a fate that happened to others.

It was here.

Coming for him.

His breath grew shallow while his heart pounded painfully against his ribs, and suddenly memories began surfacing without permission.

He saw his childhood home.

Warm sunlight falling through wooden windows.

And his father was standing near the doorway.

Ray remembered how his father always stopped him whenever he tried to wander too far outside. At that time, he hated it. He thought it was control.

Why won’t you let me go?

Why do you always stop me?

He had argued so many times.

But now, standing before death, Ray finally understood.

His father was never trying to cage him.

He was afraid.

Afraid that the world outside would hurt him.

Afraid that one day danger would come faster than Ray could escape.

Ray remembered the firm hand on his shoulder whenever trouble appeared. The quiet way his father would step forward first. The way danger always seemed to stop before reaching him.

Because someone else stood in front.

Because someone else took the risk.

A bitter ache rose in Ray’s chest.

During his rebellious years, he had finally broken free. He left home believing strength meant independence. He fought wars, saved lives, and stood beside comrades who trusted him with their survival.

Lived bravely.

He believed he had become someone worthy of being remembered.

Yet now, as death rushed toward him, all those achievements felt painfully small.

Meaningless.

The wars he fought meant nothing.

The lives he saved changed nothing.

The world did not slow for him.

Death did not care who he was.

A hollow realization spread through him.

So this is all I am.

Weak.

Pathetic.

In front of true death, all his strength vanished like smoke. All his pride felt childish. All his struggles felt insignificant.

His fingers trembled slightly, yet his legs still refused to move.

For the first time since leaving home, Ray wished for something simple.

He wished his father were here.

Just once more.

Just one more time to stand in front of him like he always had.

The blade grew closer.

Closer.

And Ray understood with crushing clarity that no matter how far he had come, no matter how much he had fought, he was still that same child standing helplessly before danger.

And this time…

There was no doubt left in his mind.

He was going to die today.

However, a sudden voice knocked through his fading thoughts.

“RAYYYYYYYY!”

Florence gasped as she rushed forward without thinking. Her instincts took over as she placed herself in front of Ray, her arms slightly spread as if her body alone could shield him. Her heart was pounding so hard that it hurt, and her breath caught in her throat as the blade closed the distance between them. Her eyes were wide, filled with fear, yet there was no hesitation in her movement.

The next moment, everything happened too fast to process.

SWISHHH!

Blood splattered violently, spraying across both Ray’s and Florence’s faces. Warm droplets hit their skin as the sharp sound echoed through the air. The battlefield seemed to hold its breath, as if even the wind had stopped moving.

Florence and Ray, who had both prepared themselves for death, suddenly frowned in confusion. Their bodies trembled, yet no pain followed.

Only warmth sliding across his skin.

Confusion slowly replaced fear as both Ray and Florence trembled and opened their eyes.

The blood covering them did not belong to either of them.

A heavy sound followed.

Drip.

Drip.

Drip.

Their gazes slowly moved forward.

At that instant, the world seemed to quake as Ray and Florence noticed something in front of them. A hand had appeared from the shadows, stretched out firmly between them and the rapier. The blade had pierced straight through the hand, blood dripping down from the wound and falling to the ground below.

Ray’s breath hitched as his eyes followed the arm upward. From the darkness behind them, a figure slowly began to emerge.

The killing intent that had filled the area moments ago collapsed instantly under this new presence.

It felt less like someone had arrived. And more like something inevitable had finally stepped onto the battlefield.

The shadow fully emerged, standing tall between Ray and Florence and certain death, while their injured hand tightened slightly around the blade.
