Path To Godhood Begins With Marrying Wife And Gaining SSS Rank Skill

She walked forward and suddenly dropped to her knees in front of Herion.

“You saved my life,” she said, lowering her head. “From now on, I am yours.”

She was strikingly beautiful even in her weak state. Her long dark hair fell over her shoulders in messy waves. Her figure was elegant and curved, and even under the torn cloth she carried herself with natural grace. Dirt stained her skin, but it could not hide her features.

She walked forward and suddenly dropped to her knees in front of Herion.

“You saved my life,” she said, lowering her head. “From now on, I am yours.”

Herion’s face twitched and sweat instantly formed on his forehead. He waved both hands in panic.

“Girl, it is okay. You do not need to do that,” he said quickly.

“No, no,” she insisted, pressing her forehead to the ground. “From the moment you freed me, I swear in the name of the Beast God that I will be yours.”

Herion froze. He blinked twice.

“Is there a Beast God?” he asked seriously.

The knights behind him coughed awkwardly.

“Lord… I do not think that is the issue,” one of them muttered.

“I know that is not the issue,” Herion snapped, clutching his head. “That is exactly why I am panicking and talking nonsense. Ahhh.”

He groaned loudly and dragged his hands down his face.

“My single life is running away. Haa… It is better to be a kid.”

He stared at the ceiling as if questioning the universe.

“Why… Why did something like growing up even come into existence?”

He lifted both hands dramatically.

“WHYYYYYY?”

“WHYYYYYY WERE WE BROUGHT TO LIFE IN THIS CRUEL WORLD?”

……

Far away, Ethan sat with the strange book in his hands. He sucked in a cold breath as he read another dramatic line written across the page.

“Why is the phenomenon of existence nothing but stages of grief and suffering?”

“Was the world created by a masochist who enjoys watching us suffer?”

Ethan’s eyelids twitched.

Every few pages, the author cried, lamented, and cursed existence itself. The writing was emotional and intense, almost suffocating.

For a moment, Ethan wanted to find the author and teach him the theory of evolution just to calm him down. But on second thought, if he did that in a world where gods were real, the entire world might join hands and try to burn him alive.

He rubbed his forehead slowly.

“This guy… does he ever stop crying,” Ethan muttered under his breath, though a faint unease still lingered in his chest.

Though he said that, Ethan’s expression was serious. His eyes did not move from the page. His fingers tightened slightly on the edge of the book.

The world.

How did it come into existence?

Did God exist before time began?

What if they never existed at the start? What if they were created, born like us, and rose to majesty, and then their history was buried deep inside obscurity?

Then is there really a path to reach godhood that is hidden from us?

As far as history recorded, no Accession Realm Knight had ever taken the last step and become a God. They had all tried. They tried from eons in the past, and they would try for eons to come, only to fail.

But what if they did not fail?

What if someone obstructed them?

Ethan’s gaze sharpened.

“My simple guess is that all of this is not coincidence but a ploy,” he muttered quietly. “A ploy by those lofty beings to suppress us.”

He flipped the page and continued reading.

In the previous chapter, the author talked about potential.

Potential. Why does everyone’s potential differ? Is it because of the structure of the body, or is it because of the weight of the soul?

What makes things different?

The Mage Tower had been trying to decipher this for years, but they were not able to reach a proper conclusion. They even tried to transfer souls. Though they gained a significant boost, they always encountered a block that made them hit a wall.

The higher you go, the more you despair.

No wonder people choose cults and go crazy. Who would remain sane while practicing for a thousand years only to know that they cannot advance?

Ethan’s brows drew together.

On the other hand, the book continued, if you join cults and gain enough resources and life sacrifices, you can break that wall. Or you can pay the god you worship to break the limit imposed on you by the Gods.

When it comes to orthodox gods, such features are accessed only by the Blessed ones. But in cults, anyone can achieve this as long as they follow the path.

That is why people scheme and conspire deeply to gain things to push themselves forward.

Ethan’s interest reached its peak. His breathing slowed. He turned the next page quickly.

“…”

“Blank? Huh?”

He flipped another page. Still blank. The next one. Blank again.

“Ahhhh.”

“Now what is this shit? Why?” Ethan muttered in frustration. He rubbed his forehead hard.

“Bastard. Do not let me find the person responsible for this, or else…” He gritted his teeth, his jaw tight.

After a moment, he remembered something and asked quietly, “System, do you have anything to say about this?”

[No. The mystery of the world is too profound for you to understand, and the same applies to me. I am just a small part of the universal consciousness of your previous world, not this one.]

[Even if I were whole, I still would not answer this. For a person who sits in a well, it is hard to comprehend the view of the world. Only when you stand at higher ground, in the place of universal consciousness, might you be able to perceive this.]

Ethan folded his arms and nodded slowly.

“You are right. There is nothing such as absolute,” he said calmly.

“Absolute power, absolute evil, or absolute justice. Such things sound pleasing, but in reality, they are separated from one another by a very thin boundary.”

For example, as the book said about evil cults. From his eyes, it was wrong, all wrong. But in their own eyes, what they were doing was absolutely necessary.

If you do not want to get trampled, you need to trample others.

And how many of those people had been wronged? Most of them were groups that had suffered under cruel fate and other people. You cannot reason righteousness with them.

Ethan looked down at the book again and sighed.

“It was a good book to pass time. Hell, no matter the world, conspiracy theories always sound the best,” he said softly.

Just then, a knock echoed on the door.

“My Lord, Herion is back. Do you want to arrange a meeting?” Rathlos’ voice came from outside.

Ethan turned his head toward the door.

“Hmmm. Did he come back now?”

“Yes.”

“Then no need to hurry. Ask him to rest. We will talk later.”
