Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family

Chapter 1104: Take out

While Rivet and her students were completely indulging themselves in a variety of McTonys’ fried chicken, the hundreds of thousands of people sitting in the Colosseum were at a loss for words.

They’re really eating their food here? How was that even possible? Was it food that they prepared long ago?

However, there were some people who noticed the emblem on the take-out boxes.

”McTony’s... wait, isn’t that the restaurant in the Feast?”

”Huh? I’ve never heard of that.”

”I only got acquainted with them recently. They’re the reason why there’s such a large line in the 1st circle of the Feast!”

The traffic in the center of the Feast had become the topic of conversation for most. But the true cause for that hadn’t yet been known. They knew that it was because of a restaurant, but they didn’t know which one.

”I can attest to that. We were in line from morning till noon. And all I can say is that... McTony’s Fried Chicken is damn well worth it!”

”We’re actually planning on lining up on the queue later today so that we could order more.”

”Not a lot of people can eat there because the line is soooo long. I’m actually surprised that Mystic Master Rivet was able to get one herself.”

Because of such discussions and rumors, people finally knew the name of the food Rivet was eating.

McTony’s.

Still, people were confused.

It was highly irregular for restaurants to give food away so far away from their restaurants. If there were, then it was small, bite-sized snacks like skewers and other candies. But those fried chicken were full meals! They weren’t meant to be eaten outside of the restaurant.

In fact, most companies design their food to be eaten inside. It would force their customers to stay in their location, therefore be much more likely to buy more food.

”They’re giving drinks too?”

People noticed Rivet and her students sipping some kind of liquid from strange-looking cups.

And after confirming that they were indeed drinks, people couldn’t help but scratch their heads. What kind of company would give away their own cups like that?

Not only that. But each of those fried chickens came with its own utensil. It was a major loss for the company to offer such amenities to their customers!

They simply didn’t know if the Reborn company was unaware of such bad business, or they didn’t care.

”The Reborn company is making some weird choices. It matters not. They’re doing us a favor.”

”They’re strangely doing well in the Feast. But as long as they cannot solve the innate problem in their location, then they can never catch up to us.”

It was surprising for these Upper Echelons and Conglomerates to see the Reborn company suddenly jump up to the 45th rank from day 2 despite having zero tokens in the first day. But it was no cause for concern.

They basically disregarded the Reborn company in the Feast by now.

However, what they could not ignore was their automobiles. Just as Rivet had demonstrated them, automobiles were going to be a major part of the future whether they liked it or not.

And so, they needed to plan. They needed to make sure that they still had a place in the world even if that happened.

The Conglomerates and the Upper Echelons gathered at a nondistinct room in the Colosseum.

”Ladies and gentlemen, I think it is time for us to discuss something important.”

The one leading the charge was an Upper Echelon Patriarch of the Zentmeister Company in the 24th rank of the Golden Ranking.

”The automobiles pose a threat to our current livelihoods. It will be dangerous in the wrong hands.”

Nobody could deny that. They all went silent.

They all saw the giant golem from Rivet. If an engine could power such a gigantic killing machine, then the balance of the world will go off of its kilter.

”If normal people got a hold of such technology, who knew what they would do? We’re already busy dealing with petty thieves and bandits here and there. What do you think will happen once they have golems under their command?”

That was true. Engines could become weapons of mass destruction that could be purchased for the mere price of a few million Gold Coins. Local warlords will have a field day once they figured that out.

And once that happened, it would be bad business for everyone—local citizens and socialites together.

”So, here is what I propose,” said the Zentmeister patriarch. ”We ask the owner of Reborn for a number.”

One of the Upper Echelon companies raised their heads. ”You want to buy the Reborn company?”

The Zentmeister man nodded. ”Yes. If not their entire company, then the automobiles and all of their components.”

And before the others could complain, the man added;

”No matter the number we end up on, we will all shoulder the burden. Everyone will contribute an equal amount of money. That way, everyone owns a part of the Reborn company. No majorities.”

It would be too unfair if only the Conglomerates bought the Reborn company. But if everyone bought a piece of Reborn, then it would be like nobody owned it in the first place. It would be equal.

That way, they could control the distribution of automobiles and engines.

Some people in the room laughed at this proposal.

”What makes you so sure Reborn will sell?”

Everyone turned their heads to see who spoke.

They were all surprised to see that it was a blonde-haired man sitting with the Conglomerates.

It was Joseph Vanderbilt!

”Come on, Joseph. You of all people know that everyone has a price. And if we’re all going to offer our own money, then we could basically buy anything in the world.”

Joseph chuckled to himself. ”That’s if you think the owner of Reborn is only in this for the money.”

”Who isn’t?” Zentmeister replied.

”Lions, that’s who,” Joseph whispered to himself.

”You and no one else will go with this proposal. Don’t even bother the Reborn company. If you do, then you’ll have to answer to me.”
