Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family

Chapter 787: Drunk dragon

That explains it...

When he thought about his first interaction with Zovirru, it completely made sense. The guy was completely chaotic and wanted nothing more than to be entertained. Heck, he was even willing to give up the Antique just because he thought that it was interesting to see them fight over it.

Someone like that would definitely enjoy a good cup of wine a few times a week.

So, he followed Katarina and stepped into the red portal.

As soon as he did, a lavish room opened up to him. Everything was ladened with gold and expensive gemstones from the chairs, to the sofas, and all the way to the candelabras lighting up the whole place.

This was even more than what kings and queens had back in the medieval period of his previous world.

It would have been a really impressive sight to see if not for one small detail.

It was all in a mess.

They were looking at a literal mountain of gilded furniture, painting, and even literal gold bars just sitting there like a pile of trash.

Michael couldn’t believe it. It seemed that the rumor of Dragons being hoarders was true. But he didn’t think it would be to this extent.

”Come on,” Katarina said to him. She was already halfway through scaling up this gold mountain, using a gold statue of a dragon as her foothold to get over the apex and to the other side.

And as she moved, hundreds of gold coins cascaded down towards Michael like a literal gold rain.

Now, even though he was already obscenely rich in terms of gold coins, he was still tempted to pocket every single one of these things for himself. It was a waste! They could have been used to build more houses, roads, and all the infrastructure the Nation of Reborn would need for the next year.

Eventually, he climbed over the top of the gold mountain and was able to see down into the other side.

And there at the bottom, laying down in a pile of gold coins like a snow angel, was Zovirru, the red-haired Draconian.

His cheeks were flushed and his breath reeked of alcohol. Michael could smell him even from far away.

”Zovirru,” Katarina called out to him.

”Hyuk! Haaa hahaha....”

The Draconian seemed to be so inebriated that he didn’t even notice that there were two strangers inside his tower.

Michael followed Katarina, sliding down on nothing but gold coins until he eventually reached Zovirru.

”Zovirru,” Katarina called out again, this time using her feet to kick him in the arm.

Michael raised his eyebrows. Oy, oy, oy, your disguise is slipping, he wanted to say to her.

She was supposed to be a historian like the professor, with no source of strength other than their intellect. Yet, she was acting so brash and rude to a literal Dragon as if she didn’t just see his intimidating form just a few minutes before this.

Michael already knew beforehand of her true identity as a Nascent Spirit Maugnetic so he understood why she acted so carefree in dealing with a Draconian. But still, she wasn’t hard for anyone to guess her true strength.

”Huh?” Zovirru awoke, looking around groggily. His red wild eyebrows were very expressive, to the point where Michael could basically hear his thoughts. ”Who disturbed my sleep?”

Then, his eyes flashed over to Katarina. He squinted saying, ”Who... are yeuo... you look urmff familiar..”

Zovirru was slurring his words and barfing in the middle of his sentence. He definitely wasn’t in the right headspace to think clearly.

Katarina definitely didn’t appreciate this. Her twitching eyes showed her impatience.

She knew just how carefree Draconians could be, but she definitely didn’t expect them to be like this.

She was even wondering if it was better to go back in a better time because they weren’t going to get anything from someone as drunk as Zovirru.

But when Zovirru looked over to Michael, he recognized him immediately.

”You!... you’re that... little one with the professor! HAHAHAHA! Welcome, welcome!”

Zovirru immediately got up off his feet and walked over to Michael, slapping his back. The man still looked deeply inebriated, but he could now be spoken to like a real person.

This quick change in attitude completely surprised Katarina.

”How are you and the profess—urmmff. Excuse me,” Zovirru said as he picked up a golden vase hand painted with intricate forest artistry ladened with gemstones, and used it as a place to unload his vomit.

One disgusting regurgitation later, Zovirru threw the incredibly expensive vase aside and faced Michael.

He seemed less drunk now, which was nice.

”HAHAHAHA! You were right! Mauricio did lose!”

This was good news. Zovirru remembered the deal he made with Sergio.

”I got lucky, I guess,” he replied to Zovirru.

”Luck or no luck, it definitely gave me a good show. I like you, small human! What’s your name again?”

”It’s Keo.”

Katarina stared as Zovirru continued to pat Michael on the back, her eyebrows raised.

She was familiar with Draconians. They weren’t the type to like someone so easily. They liked to spend their time alone, so they were very selective with the group of people that they chose to socialize with. And even more so the people they chose to remember.

And it seemed that Keo became one of those people.

It wasn’t just the professor who seemed to see something in this kid. It was Zovirru as well.

This proved more and more that there was something special with this kid that she just wasn’t seeing.

”Keo, is it? What’d you come here for? AH! Right! The Antique!”

Zovirru immediately looked around his room and began rummaging through the piles and piles of expensive treasures just laying around.

”Now where did I put that...,” he mumbled.

Eventually, Zovirru got bored and chose an easy way to look for it instead.

He raised both his hands and slammed them on the ground, causing the entire pile of gold treasures to lift up into the air for a few moments.

And in that moment, while everything was floating in the air, there was just one piece of item that remained on the floor.

It was none other than the Antique, a giant white Tibia bone.

”Ah, there it is,” Zovirru said, holding it in one hand. ”As promised, this Antique now belongs to the professor. Where is he?”

”He’s away on business,” Katarina answered. ”You can give it to me.”

But just as she was about to grab the Antique from his hands, he yanked it away from her.

”You... I don’t know you,” he said. ”This Antique belongs to the professor, and I don’t remember you being there.”

Then, he turned to Michael. ”This Antique is yours for now. Give it to the professor once he’s back.”

Michael stared at the giant white bone in front of him. Up close, he could see the thousands of scratches on its surface, some going a few inches deep while some barely at surface level.

He hesitated to raise his hand.

After all, he knew that the Antique was laced with a strange Aubility Power. It tested the blood of everyone it touched to see if they were worthy to receive its inheritance.
