Immortal of the Nine Realms

This core cultivator’s power wasn’t very high, only a first-transformation immortal. When he locked Fang Chen’s immortal energy, Fang Chen was confident he could break free and kill him in an instant. But he didn’t act. He wanted to see how Little Immortal Honglian’s situation would develop.

These core members thought the fusion between Little Immortal Honglian and the Formation Heart was bound to fail, but he didn’t think so. If all of this was something she had planned in advance, then it was improbable she would fail.

She would obtain the Formation Heart, become a core member of the Enlightenment God Palace, and then begin their plan of slowly boiling the Nine Realms like a frog in warm water.

The only thing Fang Chen was certain about was that this plan could not be completed overnight. Even if she became a core member, she couldn’t significantly accelerate the plan’s progress. After all, the Nine Mortal Realms were not without resistance. As long as the old patrons like the Yang Gods existed, their plan would be like rowing upstream, difficult to proceed smoothly.

As the days passed, more and more core members received the news. Eventually, Fang Chen saw Li Shanzi, Nanming Ruyue, and even that senior sister.

The senior sister said calmly, ”Bring him over.”

Fang Chen was brought before them.

Li Shanzi and Nanming Ruyue looked a bit surprised. Nanming Shaoze, who was beside Nanming Ruyue, frowned unpleasantly as soon as he saw Fang Chen. He asked, ”You two know each other?”

The senior sister glanced at Fang Chen, then at Li Shanzi and Nanming Ruyue.

Nanming Ruyue smiled and recounted the duel between Fang Chen and Nanming Shaoze.

Everyone showed mild surprise, but wasn’t too shocked. After all, among the core members present, who was less talented than Nanming Shaoze?

At this moment, any of them could defeat him; otherwise, they wouldn’t have become core disciples, while Nanming Shaoze had yet to receive exceptional promotion.

The senior sister removed the immortal energy binding Fang Chen and asked, ”You two discovered this Formation Heart together?”

”Yes.”

The senior sister said calmly, ”Do you know that, given your status, you have no right to handle the Formation Heart on your own? If she fails to form the contract, do you know what the consequences will be?”

Fang Chen thought for a moment. ”At worst, expulsion from the Enlightenment God Palace; at worst, annihilation of body and soul. That’s what the core disciple who sealed me said earlier.”

He pointed at the core disciple who had previously restrained him.

The other only sneered coldly and said nothing more.

”Exactly, that is the rule. So you’d better hope she succeeds in forming the contract. Otherwise, she will have destroyed the Formation Heart. The responsibility will fall on you, and most likely, that means death,” said the senior sister calmly.

Suddenly, there was some commotion nearby. The senior sister frowned and casually asked, ”What’s happening?”

”Someone said they are from the Nine Realms Expedition Team. The person currently forming the contract with the Formation Heart is one of their members, and this person is their captain.”

”Nine Realms Expedition Team?”

The senior sister glanced at Fang Chen and suddenly chuckled softly. ”That’s a fitting name.”

Then she said lightly, ”Let them come over. If this girl succeeds in forming the contract, then they all share in the glory.”

Yu Wuxia, Lin Yuan, and Meng Qingling gradually boarded the senior sister’s Black Dragon Boat, carefully approaching Fang Chen.

Lin Yuan asked quietly, ”Captain, that’s Daoist Hong, right? We didn’t get it wrong, did we?”

Fang Chen nodded slightly. ”Yes, it is her.”

”I happened to be with Senior Lin just now. Senior Lin said Daoist Hong is currently in the midst of contracting with a Formation Heart. If she succeeds, she’ll directly make the leap to become a core disciple, right?” asked Lin Yuan, tone full of envy.

Meng Qingling looked both envious and jealous, occasionally shooting Little Immortal Honglian glances. Although she had already shown ambition to become a core member before, they truly hadn’t expected that on their first expedition, they’d encounter such a situation.

If Little Immortal Honglian really became a core member, she’d become a living legend on Expedition Star No. 432.

At that moment, the senior sister suddenly looked toward the nearby core disciples, her gaze scanning over Nanming Ruyue and the others. ”By the way, has anyone seen Chen Xinghe?”

”Chen Xinghe? I think I saw him not long ago,” answered one person. ”He should be exploring somewhere else. The Formless Purgatory is so vast. Even if he received the message, he might not have made it here in time.”

The senior sister shook her head. ”It’s not that he couldn’t make it. I received news from the elders that Chen Xinghe’s life lamp has gone out.”

Everyone was shocked.

”He’s dead?!”

”The one who struck him down probably isn’t one of our own,” shared the senior sister. ”That means there are cultivators from other factions lurking within the Formless Purgatory. You all need to be extra careful going forward.”

The group was furious.

”They dare to break the rules?”

Without rules, there can be no order.

If the Forbidden Zone battle had already been settled, yet the other party still dared to linger within it, then the Enlightenment God Palace could very well send a seventh-transformation Ancient Immortal to infiltrate their Forbidden Zones and hunt down their core disciples.

Wouldn’t that cause chaos? It would be tantamount to declaring war.

”Don’t rush. Maybe it’s just a misunderstanding. The elders are already negotiating with various forces, and there will be a result soon,” explained the senior sister calmly.

”Senior Sister, if what we suspect is true, it means some forces have been living too comfortably these years and want to go to war with the Enlightenment God Palace.”

”If there really is going to be a war, then let it happen. Who’s afraid of whom?”

”Can you all not get so worked up? No prisoners? If one piece of the Formation Heart is damaged, it’s lost forever. Who do you think will benefit in the end if they fight like that?”

Fang Chen listened to their arguments, feeling an extremely familiar sensation, his expression strange. This looks very much like the handiwork of the Spirit God Sect. Just a few small tricks, breaking a few rules, and they could create a terrifying storm and produce destructive consequences.

If the forces of the Upper Three Realms really started fighting, and no prisoners were taken, anyone could imagine the consequences. At least one-third, or even more, of the core disciples present would die.

But at this level, the Spirit God Sect wouldn’t just use them to refine the Blood Spirit Pill. If they really did that, all the forces would immediately unite to suppress them. This place isn’t some small spot like Tuxiong Star, nor is it like the Central Continent.

If it wasn’t for Blood Spirit Pills, was it simply to make these demons disguised as humans die in greater numbers?

If that person just now was a Spirit God Sect cultivator, and came from the same place as Little Immortal Honglian, there’s no way he wouldn’t realize what consequences killing Chen Xinghe would bring. But he did it anyway. Is his relationship with Little Immortal Honglian not what I thought? Are they unconnected?

Just as Fang Chen was mulling over this, a dazzling green divine light burst from Little Immortal Honglian.

Immediately afterward, the jade-green Formation Heart shot straight into the centre of her brows and vanished.

She opened her eyes. Her cultivation and aura were as before, but it was clear she was different from before.

Many of the core disciples showed surprise.

”Did the contract succeed?”
