Immortal of the Nine Realms

After a little while, Xing Xian came again with a tray of Yin Lifespan Coins, bringing the total to over twenty thousand.

Fang Chen transferred the Yin Lifespan Coins into the Monarch Yan’s Seal and looked at the old flood dragon with a serious expression. ”Senior, whatever happens next, do not resist.”

The old flood dragon looked uneasy. ”There’s no danger, right? I haven’t settled my affairs yet.”

Fang Chen smiled and shook his head. ”There is no risk at the moment. This is just the first step. Once the first step succeeds, there’s a second step. If both steps are done correctly, your tribulation should be resolved.”

”Alright!”

The old flood dragon immediately nodded. ”You can proceed, I’ll cooperate with you.”

To issue a decree to a third transformation Loose Immortal, a significant amount of Yin Life was required. Altogether, it required thirty thousand Yin Lifespan Coins to issue the decree.

As the decree landed on the old flood dragon, his internal Yin energy began to surge. He instinctively wanted to resist, but when he remembered Fang Chen’s instructions, he suppressed his energy.

Golden light flowed about the old flood dragon, and before long, the decree succeeded, elevating him to the Day Walker.

”What a strange feeling....”

The old flood dragon frowned slightly, feeling the subtle changes in his body while glancing at Fang Chen out of the corner of his eye.

Fang Chen smiled. ”Senior, let me introduce you. This is Stone Dragon, and this is the Tai Yin Dragon King. In the coming days, these two will stay here with you.”

Stone Dragon and the others walked into the hall and cupped their hands in respect.

Stone Dragon’s aura was very weak. At least in the old flood dragon’s eyes, he wasn’t worth his attention. However, the Tai Yin Dragon King’s aura made him feel uneasy. It didn’t feel like a disparity in strength, but rather a suppression that stemmed from his bloodline. This suppression made the old flood dragon uncomfortable.

The old flood dragon stood up and spoke, his tone slightly hostile. ”Tai Yin Dragon King? You were a true dragon in life?”

The Taiyin Dragon King was momentarily stunned. This lowly flood dragon didn’t kneel or show deference? He even dared to be unfriendly?

He was slightly displeased. A third transformation Loose Immortal meant nothing. When he was alive, his strength had far surpassed this!

Tai Yin Dragon King said indifferently, ”What? So what if I was a true dragon? Is that so strange?”

The old flood dragon smiled faintly and said, ”The underworld really is full of oddities—even true dragon spirits. But judging by your strength, you don’t seem as strong as me?”

Tai Yin Dragon King’s expression darkened. ”You’re still alive, with your strength intact. I died of old age. I crawled up from a lowly wandering spirit to where I am now—of course I’m not your match. But when your life ends, you’ll understand.”

The old flood dragon didn’t quite get the distinction, but didn’t want to show ignorance. He turned to Fang Chen with a skeptical look. ”Kid, you want me to stay here temporarily. What are you going to do?”

Fang Chen gave a smile and replied, ”Naturally, I’m here to help you deal with that tribulation.”

The old flood dragon narrowed his eyes and asked, ”I can’t go with you?”

Fang Chen countered, ”If the tribulation is triggered, do you have the confidence to withstand it?”

”So you’re saying... the tribulation won’t descend while I’m in the underworld?”

Tai Yin Dragon King sneered. ”The underworld isn’t under the jurisdiction of the heavenly laws. Here, you just need to follow the rules of this realm. You didn’t know that?”

The old flood dragon growled. ”Who says I don’t understand? I’m just asking for clarification!”

After saying this, he turned to Fang Chen and said, ”You go ahead. I’ll stay here for a while.”

Fang Chen glanced at Stone Dragon and the others before stepping out and vanishing into the void.

When Fang Chen reappeared, he was sitting cross-legged not far from the old flood dragon in the same ordinary valley.

When his soul walked into the underworld, with the Yan Monarch armor equipped, Fang Chen was effectively a first-transformation Loose Immortal. Conversely, if his soul returns after the underworld journey, he can wield those same powers in the human world.

So far, he hadn’t needed to act personally. But today was different.

The old flood dragon was a third-transformation Loose Immortal. To use the Skinning Technique on such a being, Fang Chen’s normal self would have no effect at all. He couldn’t peel off even a single scale.

Only by letting his divine soul traverse the underworld and act in the form of Monarch Yan could he possibly peel that dragon skin.

Fang Chen stood in front of the old flood dragon and instantly cast a beam of green light.

The Skin Peeling Technique!

The green light tried to peel off the dragon’s skin. Sensing the threat, the flood dragon immediately began to swell, transforming into a massive beast that nearly filled the entire valley

The dragon’s head and body were a deep iron-blue, with each dragon scale resembling a treasured artifact that had been refined for countless years. Its hardness was likely comparable to that of an ordinary heaven-grade treasure.

Fang Chen felt the yin energy within his body begin to pour out, and the green light grew stronger. After an hour, it finally pried open a dragon scale from the top of the old flood dragon’s head.

That first success made the rest smoother. It was slow, but there was progress.

Had the old flood dragon’s soul not entered the underworld, it would’ve been impossible. Only someone of equal or greater rank could possibly succeed.

Days passed.

By now, a complete flood dragon hide had appeared in front of Fang Chen. Before he could examine it in detail, the nine Zhu Longs on his body suddenly opened their mouths and inhaled.

The nine Zhu Longs immediately devoured the karma latched onto the flood dragon’s hide.

Monarch Yan Armor began to glow faintly, and its aura surged step by step.

”Interesting,” Fang Chen murmured, sensing the transformation within him.

***

Another half a day passed.

The causal power contained within the flood dragon’s hide seemed to have been completely consumed. However, instead of merging into Fang Chen himself, the power merged into Monarch Yan Armor. As a result, the armor’s strength increased significantly. If nothing unexpected occurred, the boost it provided likely pushed Fang Chen into the second transformation.

Fang Chen thought to himself, Monarch Yan Armor, as well as the armor worn by Du Yunxu and the others, might all have been refined using karma...

Since his strength had now surpassed the first-transformation, he tried walking through the underworld. Indeed, even with the Monarch Yan’s Armor on, he was unable to enter the small underworld, as a force repelled him from entering.

The road to the Yellow Springs lay before him, yet he couldn’t take a single step onto it. Only by removing the Yan Jun Armor did the repulsion disappear.

This meant that while his strength was passively diminished in the small underworld, it increased dramatically in the Floating Pagoda Realm.

He could accept this, as the dangers of the small underworld were far less than those in the floating pagoda realm.

Now, even if he encountered a third-transformation Great Yin Demon in the Floating Pagoda Realm, it would be difficult to defeat it. But if he wished to leave... it wouldn’t be difficult.

Fang Chen smiled.

He returned to Jiang Guang City and brought the old flood dragon back. Along the way, the old flood dragon repeatedly expressed his dissatisfaction with the Taiyin Dragon King.

During the journey, the old dragon grumbled constantly about the Taiyin Dragon King.

Upon returning to the human world and seeing his bloodied and mangled fleshly body, the old flood dragon immediately roared in fury, glaring at Fang Chen.
