Immortal of the Nine Realms

To immortal souls, the Underworld was much more dangerous than the Mortal Realm. There, they were even weaker than wandering souls. Yin Demons would attempt to devour them. Even wandering souls would covet them. Unless they willingly fall and transform into Yin Demons to follow the path of Ghost Gods, they would be as weak as a kitten.

In contrast, if they were given a physical body in the Mortal Realm, their former immortal powers would allow them to manipulate the world at will. They wouldn’t remain helpless waiting to be slaughtered.

While Stone Dragon and Xing Xian were brimming with anxiety, Fang Chen appeared very at ease. He glanced at the immortal souls gathered around and smiled. ”Everyone here was once a true immortal. Do you understand the current situation in the Underworld? If you wish to reincarnate, it will be extremely difficult. There is only one path before you now. Will you take it?”

Over a hundred thousand immortal souls turned to look at Fang Chen. The looks in their eyes varied. In the end, they all looked toward Dragon Emperor and the others.

Clearly, the first five to step forward were not nameless figures in the Immortal Realm.

Stone Dragon and Xing Xian gradually began to understand Fang Chen’s plan, and their anxiety lessened somewhat.

The ethereal female figure, Li Yilian, pondered. ”Lord... you’re saying you will... let us choose whether or not to transform into Yin Demons?”

Her words were like a spark igniting a pile of dry straw, instantly causing the immortal souls present to become agitated.

”We are true immortals! Even in death, we should reincarnate and return to the Immortal Realm! To transform into Yin Demons and remain trapped in this dark, endless place is worse than having our souls scatter!”

”Yin Demons are lowly! How can they be compared to true immortals? What is your intention?”

”What a joke! Even if the tiger falls to the plains, it cannot be tamed! Don’t think you can bully me!”

Evil Monarch Beiling narrowed his eyes, sizing up Fang Chen for a few moments. He suddenly let out a sinister laugh. ”You say we should become Yin Demons, but what path do you intend to show us? If you can explain clearly, this lord might just consider it.”

Someone immediately rebuked Evil Monarch Beiling, ”Evil Monarch Beiling, if you willingly fall, you’ll be dishonoring the Immortal Realm. Though your reputation in the Immortal Realm is not the best, you’re still a true immortal!”

However, after Evil Monarch Beiling shot him a cold look, that person zipped their mouth in fear.

Evil Monarch Beiling was notorious in the Immortal Realm, enough to make even other true immortals tremble in fear.

Dragon Emperor glanced at Stone Dragon and Xing Xian thoughtfully. He sensed a strange aura radiating from the two.

An inkling of suspicion arose in his heart. However, he didn’t speak, remaining a silent observer to see how Fang Chen would respond to Evil Monarch Beiling.

Fang Chen calmly said, ”If you transform into Yin Demons, the only path available to you is the path of Ghost Gods.”

”The Ghost Gods’ path?” Evil Monarch Beiling said lightly. ”Could it be that you have connections with Monarch Yan and can request an imperial decree for us? If it’s truly the path of Ghost Gods, given my current situation, it might indeed be a better option than being a wandering soul.”

The Great Thunder Monk King suddenly pressed his palms together, chanted a Buddhist mantra, and bowed to Fang Chen. ”Amitabha. Greetings, Monarch Yan. I am Great Thunder Monk King, Shijia Wuye.”

Evil Monarch Beiling was slightly taken aback. ”Monarch Yan? You are Monarch Yan?”

The arrogance and malevolence on his face faded slightly, replaced with a hint of wariness.

Seeing this, Dragon Emperor immediately understood that his suspicions were correct. He transformed into his human form and landed. He quickly bowed. ”I, Long Shan, offer you my greetings, Monarch Yan.”

”I, Li Yilian, offer you my greetings, Monarch Yan.”

The scruffy old Daoist was slightly startled, but he quickly bowed. ”Ni Gula from the Ephemera Immortal Sect. Greetings, Monarch Yan. Looks like the great flood has reached the Dragon King’s temple! Monarch Yan always had a strong relationship with the Dao Sect. We are all on the same side! Hahaha...!”

Fang Chen looked at Shijia Wuye. ”How did you figure out my identity?”

Shijia Wuye smiled faintly. ”It’s not that I discerned your identity, but rather that the two subordinates beside you carry the aura of Ghost Gods. Yin Demons and Ghost Gods are different. The latter are granted imperial decrees, recognized by Heaven and Earth. They can walk freely in the Mortal Realm or Immortal Realm and are not shackled to the Underworld.”

Xing Xian’s eyes showed a hint of pride. He greatly cherished his identity as a Ghost God, particularly because of this distinction. In his mind, Ghost Gods were no weaker than true immortals of the Immortal Realm; they were simply two different cultivation paths.

Evil Monarch looked suspicious. He said, ”If you are truly Monarch Yan, then I am willing to become a Yin Demon, but are you sure you will grant us imperial decrees? We are now just remnants of souls. If we were still in the Mortal Realm, we might have had some use, but to become Yin Demons will require years of cultivation before we can regain even a fraction of our former strength.”

Li Yilian said lightly, ”The Evil Monarch is a sinister one indeed, always using the mindset of a petty person to judge the heart of a noble one. Lord, as Monarch Yan, even if your cultivation is not apparent now, that is only temporary. In the future, you will surely rule the world. Without trustworthiness, how could a person fill such a seat?”

Evil Monarch Beiling didn’t get angry. He had only said that on purpose. After all, he wasn’t losing anything.

Fang Chen smiled faintly. ”I can only grant the imperial decree for you five today. The others who wish to become Yin Demons will need to wait for a while.”

Many of the immortal souls had hoped that they would be able to transform immediately. They didn’t expect that only the five would receive the decree.

What about the others?

One of the immortal souls coldly snorted. ”If that’s the case, then we won’t become Yin Demons.”

Another asked, ”Monarch Yan, if we become Yin Demons but haven’t received an imperial decree, won’t we be unable to move in the underworld? And if we don’t become Yin Demons, how will you deal with us?”

Fang Chen smiled. ”Whether you all become Yin Demons or not today, it’s only to let you come out and stretch your legs. After this, you’ll have to go back inside the sword.”

The group of immortal souls was immediately stunned. They had thought that the choice was in their hands. They hadn’t expected that Fang Chen had already arranged everything for them, leaving them with no opportunity to decide.

”You five, we don’t have much time,” said Stone Dragon indifferently. ”Since Monarch Yan values you and wants you to walk the path of Ghost Gods, please transform into Yin Demons immediately and don’t waste any more time.”

The five seemed to be in deep thought, each of them contemplating.

Gradually, they made their decisions.

With a strange laugh, Evil Monarch Beiling’s aura suddenly began to change. The Yin Qi around him grew stronger, and the ethereal feeling of him being an immortal soul gradually faded. He had chosen to give up his identity as an immortal soul and had transformed himself into a Yin Demon.

Next came the Dragon Emperor, Li Yilian, Shijia Wuye, and Ni Gula.

When the immortal souls saw them transforming into Yin Demons, those who had initially rejected the idea suddenly felt regretful. However, it was too late to regret. Monarch Yan had no intention of granting them an imperial decree today. Even if they became Yin Demons, they wouldn’t walk the path of Ghost Gods.

Not long after, five Yin Demons appeared before Fang Chen. The moment they transformed into Yin Demons, substantial Yin energy gathered around them. Their power was at least on par with that of Xing Xian, at the level of a Day Walker God.

Stone Dragon’s eyes flickered with a barely noticeable sense of seriousness.

Xing Xian was shocked.

As for the five who had transformed, they didn’t feel much; the only thing they felt was the emptiness in their hearts.

From this point on, they had completely severed their past and embarked on a different path.
