Immortal of the Nine Realms

Boom!

The dragon truncheon shattered the stone table in front of Fang Chen, but it hadn’t managed to hit Supreme Immortal Pudu.

In just an instant, Supreme Immortal Pudu had already retreated ten feet away, his cold eyes firmly locked onto Fang Chen.

”Your movements are truly outstanding.” Fang Chen smiled. ”I was just testing you just now, please don’t be offended.”

”Do you think I will believe you?” Supreme Immortal Pudu’s face was gloomy, his gaze sweeping over the dragon truncheon. ”A low-grade, yellow-rank treasure forged with Moon Sinking Gold, with twelve Soul Imprints. No wonder you dared to return here. You wanted to use it to kill me.”

A treasure with twelve Soul Imprints could indeed pose a threat to this body. If he had been hit just now, his spiritual energy would have immediately collapsed.

”You recognize this treasure? You are truly worthy of being a supreme immortal,” exclaimed Fang Chen, but he was actually quite spooked. The opponent had instantly recognized that the dragon truncheon was forged with Moon Sinking Gold. He might not get another chance like this one again.

Supreme Immortal Pudu snorted. ”Your divine soul is formidable, no wonder you can wield such a treasure. However... wanting to use it against me, I’m afraid your cultivation is still too weak. Seventh stage of the Qi Refining Realm... hehe, to think that you would make a move against me with that cultivation.”

”You must be kidding,” said Fang Chen. “How would I dare to make a move against you? I just wanted to test your abilities. How about we discuss our deal again?”

”A delaying tactic. Using such a treasure with your cultivation level must consume a lot of spiritual energy, right? Are you trying to stall for time to recover your expanded spiritual energy? Did you think I’m an idiot? Since you’ve done this, even if this is only a puppet, I will destroy it today.” Supreme Immortal Pudu sneered. ”Let me show you my Dao technique, the Golden Incense Body!”

In an instant, his entire body radiated golden light, transforming into a pure gold giant statue.

Fang Chen’s expression flickered, and he turned to escape.

”Where do you think you’re going?” Supreme Immortal Pudu kicked the ground, smashing two large pits into the ground. His figure was like a flash of golden lightning as he chased after Fang Chen.

His speed was easily twice that of Fang Chen’s. He caught up within a breath, but he was suddenly faced with dozens of Purple Lightning Talismans.

Purple lightning flickered, and electric arcs jumped on his body. However, these couldn’t harm him at all, as it was blocked by his golden body.

A sinister smile appeared on his face. How dare an ant challenge the Heavens?

A palm landed on Fang Chen’s back.

Bang!

Fang Chen was sent flying.

The terrifying force, mixed with profound and powerful spiritual energy, had directly destroyed Fang Chen’s protective spiritual energy.

Hacking out a mouthful of blood, Fang Chen rolled and skid on the ground for dozens of meters, tumbling until he screeched to a stop.

”Damn it....” Fang Chen repeatedly gasped for air.

Supreme Immortal Pudu was way stronger than he had thought.

”You couldn’t even take one palm from me?”

Supreme Immortal Pudu didn’t continue his attack and only stared down at Fang Chen from above, like a cat playing with a little mouse.

”Who gave you the courage to dare to make a move against me with your cultivation? Even though this body’s cultivation is not high, it’s still at the 12th stage of the Qi Refining Realm,” he said with a sneer. “You thought you could bridge the gap with just your Spiritual Treasure?”

Fang Chen looked at Supreme Immortal Pudu, his thoughts churning. He’s right, the difference is too big. If I were at the 11th stage of the Qi Refining Realm, I might’ve been able to compete with him using the dragon truncheon. Or I might’ve been able to create a bunch of high-grade Purple Lightning Talismans beforehand to injure him.

Unfortunately, high-grade Purple Lightning Talismans required extremely high-quality cinnabar, yellow paper, and brush. Without suitable spiritual materials, he could only produce medium grade ones at most.

He still had a little over two hundred medium-grade Purple Lightning Talismans in his storage ring. However, facing Supreme Immortal Pudu’s golden body’s astonishing defense, even if the remaining two hundred Purple Lightning Talismans were thrown at him, it wouldn’t harm him in the slightest.

”If you destroy my puppet, I’m afraid you’ll never know the location of the saint-grade spiritual herb,” said Fang Chen slowly.

”I have lost interest in those spiritual herbs,” said Supreme Immortal Pudu. “If this is only your puppet, I’ll still destroy it. I’ll then find your true self and use the flames of incense to refine you for a hundred years, scattering your soul and cutting off your chance at reincarnation.”

Supreme Immortal Pudu seemed to have run out of patience.

Fang Chen sighed lightly as if he accepted his fate. ”In that case, I admit defeat wholeheartedly.”

Smirking, Supreme Immortal Pudu walked up to Fang Chen.

However, suddenly, Fang Chen took out the dragon truncheon and struck out with it fiercely one more time.

”Ant.” Supreme Immortal Pudu waved his hand and grabbed the dragon truncheon, allowing the spiritual energy on it to invade his body. It couldn’t affect him the slightest. The dragon truncheon, which could make a small mountain disappear in an instant, seemed more like a toy in front of him.

Bang!

Supreme Immortal Pudu kicked Fang Chen’s abdomen, sending him hurtling through the air until he collided with an ancient tree with a deafening crash.

Supreme Immortal Pudu lowered his head and took a glance at the dragon truncheon in his hand. He suddenly chuckled. ”This kind of rubbish deserves to be called a Spiritual Treasure?”

Crack!

He crushed the dragon truncheon, breaking it into dozens of small fragments and scattering it on the ground.

Fang Chen’s heart turned cold at that scene. The Soul Imprints on the dragon truncheon were linked to his divine soul, and its destruction had caused him to suffer a backlash. Fresh blood continuously flowed from the corners of his mouth.

”Actually...” Supreme Immortal Pudu looked at Fang Chen with some emotion, ”if you were at the twelfth stage of Qi Refining Realm, perhaps your moves just now would have been effective. At the very least, you wouldn’t be in such a miserable state.”

Fang Chen wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, adjusted his position, and leaned against the big tree to rest. ”Is that so?”

Supreme Immortal Pudu chuckled. ”Among Qi Refining cultivators, you are the first to make me this angry. This alone is worthy of you being proud of. Of course, your courage to come at me with your true self is also commendable.”

Fang Chen smiled. ”This is just a puppet. It wouldn’t matter even if you killed me. In the end, I would only lose one more puppet.”

”If you were really a puppet, you wouldn’t have suffered a backlash from me destroying your Spiritual Treasure...” said Supreme Immortal Pudu with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes.

After a few moments of silence, Fang Chen sighed softly. ”Since you haven’t killed me yet, I am assuming you’re still thinking of the saint-grade spiritual herb. Speak, what do you want to do?”

Supreme Immortal Pudu smiled. ”Naturally, I will do a soul search. The pain you’ll experience would be enough of a punishment for you to understand the consequences of provoking me. But before that, I have a question for you: why did you return again after you’ve left. Is killing me so important to you? What benefits do you gain from it?”

”As long as this body of yours is not dead, it’ll always spell trouble. Instead of having you cause trouble for me in the future, it’s better for me to resolve it now,” answered Fang Chen with a weary smile.

”Just because of this?” Supreme Immortal Pudu’s expression was somewhat strange. If it were him, he would’ve never returned alone. But the Qi Refining cultivator in front of him displayed a determination even he didn’t possess.

”This reason is sufficient and reasonable. If you don’t understand, it means you are still too young and inexperienced.”

”Hahaha!” Supreme Immortal Pudu was so angry, he laughed. A Qi Refining cultivator, a person he defeated, was mocking him for being too young and inexperienced?

He immediately appeared by Fang Chen’s side and clutched the top of his head. ”Soul search!”
