”Hey, Cynthia. Are you really going to do this?”

”Yes, of course! Unfortunately, our engagement hasn’t been officially finalized yet… That’s exactly why I must show you my true strength! Whether it’s war with another country or the battle of love, I will not lose!!”

Cynthia declared this with eyes full of strong determination.

Rigel and Cynthia now stood together on the grassy plain. They were there to intercept the Haidegar Federation’s advance party.

According to reports, the advance party numbered fewer than 500. Even if they broke through, the risk of them reaching the old royal capital was low. However, to gain an advantage in the upcoming battle against the main force that would surely follow, they needed to drive this vanguard away first.

Unfortunately, the invasion had come before the occupation army could fully establish its defensive posture. As a result, only the two powerhouses—Rigel and Cynthia—were left to face the enemy army. Of course, even if they were defeated, the main occupation force would arrive shortly afterward, so the fate of the battle didn’t rest entirely on the two of them.

”Haa…”

Rigel let out a sigh. While Cynthia was highly motivated, he himself was not enthusiastic about this at all.

With his cheat skill [Rape], Rigel possessed combat ability on par with a thousand men. If he felt like it, he could single-handedly inflict devastating damage on the enemy army.

However, his control over that immense power was still immature. With Cynthia nearby, he couldn’t go all out. There were also other factors that dampened his motivation.

(If this girl is here… I won’t be able to rape the enemy soldiers, damn it!)

Rigel didn’t dislike Cynthia, but she was also a nuisance. She was ruining his precious rape opportunities. If he tried to rape a female enemy soldier right in front of her, she would probably explode in fury. Since they weren’t officially engaged yet, he could technically ignore her, but… he preferred not to sour the mood of Count Blade, the leader of the occupation army.

”Come, Sir Rigel! Let us together scatter the vile Haidegar Federation army!!”

”Ah… Well, I guess we have no choice…”

Rigel reluctantly agreed. In the end, he did enjoy wielding his power. Besides, after destroying the Valestain Kingdom, dealing a blow to the Haidegar Federation army wouldn’t be a bad idea. It would give him more souvenirs to bring back to the Wistaria Kingdom.

Having thought it over, Rigel drew his sword and turned his gaze toward the Haidegar Federation army. Noticing their presence, the enemy slowed their advance. Then, a man who appeared to be the commander raised his voice.

”Hear me! Who are you people!!”

Rigel was lightly equipped, wearing only crude leather armor. He looked like a mere low-ranking soldier. Had he been alone, the Haidegar Federation army would likely have ignored him and pushed through. After all, they were marching with the intent to invade—they had no interest in dealing with low-ranking soldiers of an enemy nation.

But this time, Cynthia was with him. She was clad in shining silver armor, looking exactly like a holy knight. Her beauty and presence made it obvious she was no ordinary person.

”My name is Cynthia von Blade! I am the Silver Saint Knight of the Wistaria Kingdom!!”

”Wha—!? The Silver Saint Knight!?”

”No way, the famous…!”

”There’s no mistake! She’s one of the strongest in the Wistaria Kingdom…!”

The soldiers stirred with commotion. It seemed Cynthia’s fame had reached even neighboring countries.

”I see you are the Haidegar Federation army! This land already belongs to the Wistaria Kingdom! Leave immediately!!”

”That is not possible! We have heard that your country has unjustly occupied the Valestain Kingdom! For the sake of justice, we shall assist in the restoration of the Valestain Kingdom!!”

”What nonsense… There is no such thing as an unjust occupation! In the first place, this is our country’s internal affair! The Haidegar Federation has no right to intervene!!”

The verbal battle between Cynthia and the Haidegar Federation commander continued.

(Tch… What a pointless argument.)

Rigel watched on with a fed-up expression. The Gousel Marquess army had attacked the Valestain Kingdom for the benefit of their own territory and the Wistaria Kingdom. The Haidegar Federation might talk about lofty ideals, but their true motives were likely the same.

Seizing another country’s territory for one’s own national interest—this was simply natural behavior for a state. All the talk of ”justice” was nothing more than pretty words. Rigel had no intention of wasting time here. There wouldn’t be any fun post-victory rapes either, so it was best to finish this quickly.

”Pierce through—— [God-Slaying Spear]!”

Rigel activated the national treasure weapon from the former Valestain Kingdom. It was a holy weapon blessed by the gods. Originally used by Princess Natasha, it now belonged to Rigel since she had gone into seclusion in her hidden villa. Its power was immense. The divine spear, fueled by Rigel’s magical power, extended at godlike speed and struck the enemy commander.

”Guaah!? Gahhh!!!”

”Wha—!? Commander!!”

The battle was decided in an instant. Rigel’s [God-Slaying Spear] had perfectly pierced through the enemy commander’s chest.

”Sir Rigel…?”

”Kukuku! Enough with the pretty words. Let’s finish this quickly.”

Cynthia was stunned by the sudden, completely unprincipled surprise attack. Ignoring her reaction, Rigel wore an evil smile.

The verbal exchange between Cynthia and the enemy commander was interrupted by Rigel’s [God-Slaying Spear]. The single strike instantly decided the outcome. Rigel’s spear had effortlessly pierced and felled the enemy commander.

”Commander—!!!”

”Wha…! How could this…!!”

”Impossible! No matter how sudden the surprise attack was, for the commander to fall so easily…”

”Damn you! You filthy Wistaria Kingdom bastards!!!”

Having lost their commander, the Haidegar Federation army fell into chaos. Their agitation was immense. And Cynthia, standing beside Rigel, was no exception.

”Sir Rigel? That strike just now…?”

”Is it really that surprising? I just threw a single spear.”

”That’s not something you can dismiss so lightly!! That was the ’Divine Spear,’ the national treasure of the former Valestain Kingdom, wasn’t it!? It’s a legendary weapon said to be Mythical-grade!! A supreme armament that only a true hero can wield!!”

Cynthia shouted, visibly excited.

(Come to think of it, she’s called the ”Silver Saint Knight”… If she’s a weapon otaku, she’d naturally know about something like this.)

Rigel nodded to himself as he calmly analyzed the situation. Cynthia pressed closer to him.

”Why does Sir Rigel possess such a powerful weapon!? That should belong to the First Princess, Lady Natasha…”

”Ah… I took it from Natasha when we destroyed the Valestain Kingdom.”

Rigel explained casually. In reality, Princess Natasha had willingly handed it over when she retired to her hidden villa… but he couldn’t tell Cynthia that much.

”Wha…!? But even if you seized it, you shouldn’t be able to use it without the proper aptitude!!”

”Well, I’m the strongest, so I can handle any weapon. Anyway, that’s enough about that. Look in front of you.”

”In front of us…?”

”Those guys are furious after I killed their commander with a surprise attack.”

Ahead of the two, the Haidegar Federation soldiers were seething with rage.

”You bastards! You lowly barbarians!!”

”Don’t underestimate the Haidegar Federation army!!”

”Kill them! Wipe out both of them!!”

”That’s not enough! Annihilate the entire filthy Wistaria Kingdom army!!”

The Haidegar Federation army charged forward with furious roars. Their momentum was overwhelming. Although they were still some distance away from Rigel and Cynthia, at this rate they would reach them within a few minutes.

”Sir Rigel… Doing something like that is bound to make them angry!”

”What? Are you taking their side, Cynthia?”

”Battle is a clash of pride between both sides! We stand here to fight invaders, not to commit meaningless slaughter!!”

Cynthia pleaded desperately. It seemed she strongly opposed Rigel’s actions.

(Sigh… What a troublesome woman… We really don’t see eye to eye.)

Rigel sighed. He acknowledged her appearance, combat ability, and family status. However, their ways of thinking were fundamentally incompatible.

”Cynthia, I have one question for you.”

”What is it?”

”If a mosquito appears in your bed at night, what do you do?”

”…Huh?”

Cynthia was bewildered by the sudden, completely unrelated question.

”Or think about it this way—if a small animal comes near while you’re camping.”

”Um… Of course I’d chase it away. Depending on the situation, I might kill it…”

”Exactly. It’s the same thing.”

Rigel pressed her for an answer, but Cynthia only tilted her head, unable to understand.

”You wouldn’t think something like ’Let us stake our pride against each other and fight fairly!’ against a mosquito or a wild animal, right?”

”That’s…”

”Our existences are on completely different levels. I’m not denying the concept of pride, but pride only exists between equals. Against inferiors, it’s only natural to ignore such things and kill them quickly.”

”…!!”

Cynthia was visibly shocked by Rigel’s words. It was a value system she had never considered before. At the same time, there were parts she found strangely convincing.

”So… to you, Sir Rigel, the Haidegar Federation army is no different from mosquitoes or wild beasts…”

”That’s right.”

”I… I see… ...”

Cynthia came to understand Rigel’s perspective. She revised her view of him, recognizing that he existed on a far higher dimension than herself.

”Sir Rigel, I am not worthy to be your fiancée. I must train and improve myself much more…”

”Huh…? What are you talking about…?”

Cynthia had suddenly entered full self-reflection mode. Rigel looked at her with suspicious eyes, unable to follow her train of thought.

”You’re called the ’Silver Saint Knight,’ aren’t you? You’re plenty strong already, right?”

”That’s…”

”If you’re aiming to be my fiancée, then prove your strength by fighting beside me. Depending on how strong you are, I might raise my opinion of you a little.”

”Sir Rigel… Understood!”

Encouraged by Rigel’s unexpected words, Cynthia fired herself up.

”I will show you what I can do with my power, Sir Rigel!!”

”Hehe… Go wild as you like. Don’t worry, if things get dangerous I’ll back you up.”

Rigel smiled at Cynthia. In addition to the Divine Spear, he had other spoils from the Valestain Kingdom. Combined with his cheat skill [Rape], dealing with an advance party from the Haidegar Federation army would be trivial.

”Alright, let’s get started. It’s time for a fun battle.”

Rigel wore an evil grin. Before his eyes, the raging Haidegar Federation army was closing in.
