Innate Immortal Seed

Chapter 543: Chapter 507: Evil Fate Sect 2

It seems he is also a Cultivator with a powerful Innate Divine Sense, far surpassing his peers.

”You can call me Ziwei... You said my Destiny Plate was unusual. What did you mean by that?”

Seeing that he wasn’t a Late-Stage Nascent Soul Cultivator, Bai Zichen relaxed. He walked over and sat down. As he did, a cloud of white mist materialized behind him, molding itself into the shape of a chair at his thought.

”Everyone possesses a Destiny Plate. It determines their fortunes and achievements in life... The Destiny Plate of a mortal is gray, as insignificant as dust. Those with a Spiritual Root who embark on the path of Cultivation will form a pale white Destiny Plate.”

Shan Zhi looked him up and down with great interest, as if he had just discovered a priceless treasure.

”A tier higher, there are Destiny Plates of green, purple, yellow, red, and more, each indicating the upper limit of one’s potential. I have walked the All-Knowing Path for centuries. I’ve seen top-tier Destiny Plates like Flawless Red Gold and Emerald Green Water Jade, but one that is a complete void, like the primordial Chaos... that is truly unheard of.”

”Ziwei... so you’re the Star Palace’s Ziwei Star Star Monarch... A pity your mask obstructs my scrying. All I can tell is that the identity beneath it is even more formidable. If I were to try and force a look, my Spiritual Sense warns me I would be struck down by a beam of Sword Light. It’s best I refrain.”

”This talk of Destiny Plates is all rather ethereal and unsubstantiated. I don’t agree with your sect’s Great Dao. If everything is preordained by the heavens, then what is the point of all our efforts in Cultivation?”

Bai Zichen shook his head. The Evil Fate Sect’s philosophy was steeped in fatalism, attributing everything to destiny and the notion that a person’s worth was determined by their Destiny Plate.

”Is it not possible that your own unceasing diligence and relentless drive—as well as the way other Cultivators squander their talents and indulge in pleasure—are also arranged by the heavens?”

Shan Zhi beamed, but his smile made no sound.

”Your Destiny Plate has sated my curiosity. As thanks, I can offer you one free divination... Or if you wish for me to scry into the future, Fellow Daoist, I can make an attempt.”

”You don’t need to divine anything for me personally. I want to know about the current Human-Demon War. Who will ultimately be victorious, and how many years will it last?”

’Bai Zichen had a feeling that if he actually let the man perform a personal divination, it would be tantamount to revealing his true identity.’

’The mask of a Star Palace Star Monarch was said to block any attempt at scrying from those below the Divinity Transformation realm.’

’But Shan Zhi, a cultivator of the All-Knowing Path, surely had methods unlike any other.’

’One slip-up, and the man might truly see through the mask to his real identity.’

”Fellow Daoist Ziwei, you certainly know how to pose a difficult question. A glimpse into something that involves the fortunes of the two Human-Demon Races and the course of a war affecting countless lives would cost me decades of my lifespan. What’s more, with Divinity Transformation Great Powers directly involved, I fear a colossal palm might fly in from the Outer Heavens the very next moment and squash me into a pulp.”

Shan Zhi showed no sign of anguish at the difficult request. On the contrary, he seemed quite pleased, like someone who was glad a long-brewing plan could finally be set in motion.

”Fortunately, I came prepared and brought my sect’s Supreme Treasure with me... Asking a cultivator of the All-Knowing Path to not scry into the most watched event in the Cultivation Realm and simply wait for the outcome... you might as well just kill him.”

A palm-sized tortoiseshell dropped to the ground, spinning in a circle. Shan Zhi traced several indecipherable characters in the air with his finger and pressed them beneath the shell.

Shan Zhi’s expression went slack. A moment later, he began coughing up blood violently. The tortoiseshell shot away, shattering as it hit the ground and sprouting several jagged cracks.

”The entire domain will fall, bodies will cover the land... In the war of Divinity Transformation masters, the Human Race will lose to a Tier Five Demon Monarch and suffer a crushing, total defeat!”

”How is that possible? The Outer Sea Demon Clan only has a single Divinity Transformation Demon Lord. How could they possibly be a match for the Human Race’s many Super Sects? Besides, the Moral Sect still stands. Back then, the Celestial Punishment Peak Master slew the most promising young talent from the Qingqiu Death Sea, the one most likely to reach Divinity Transformation. They didn’t dare utter a single word in protest. That alone proves the Celestial Punishment Peak Master’s immense power.”

’Bai Zichen’s first reaction was that the scrying must be mistaken. Or perhaps Shan Zhi had altered the results of his Divine Calculation just for shock value.’

”This is what I witnessed myself within the river of fate. It isn’t necessarily set in stone; it represents only one possibility. I also don’t know how the Demon Race could possibly achieve such a thing. It completely defies all logic.”

Shan Zhi wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, a similar confusion clouding his eyes.

”When it involves Divinity Transformation Cultivators, the visions I can see are extremely limited and fragmented. But just because the Outer Sea has only one Tier Five demon doesn’t mean there’s only one in the entire world.”

”Are you saying that the Qingqiu Death Sea and Lankao Mountain will also join the battle?”

Bai Zichen felt a growing anxiety. While the conclusion Shan Zhi spoke of seemed utterly preposterous...

...the past divinations of Evil Fate Sect disciples, especially their pronouncements on major events, had always been proven true in the end, no matter how bizarre they seemed at the time.

’He had originally planned to enter secluded Cultivation and simply observe how things unfolded. But if the entire Eastern Domain were to truly become a Demon Realm, occupied by the Outer Sea Demon Clan, it would mean the situation for Human Race Cultivators had become desperate.’

’He himself was the greatest enemy of the Star Constellation Sea, and by extension, that Divinity Transformation Elder Dragon. When the time came, with nowhere left to retreat, he would have to face the Demon Race head-on.’

”I am only suggesting a possibility. Based on my past scrying, even if both Demon Race Sacred Lands threw everything they have into the fight, they would be no match for the Moral Sect... And with the Outer Sea demons invading, the sects of the world would surely set aside their differences and cooperate in the face of a war between races.”

”I couldn’t see how the Human Race Cultivators lost, or by what means the Demon Race defeated them. I only saw countless living beings wailing in torment, Human Race Cultivators being slaughtered by Demon Beasts, toyed with, turned into rations... The only chance to change this fate lies in the Central Domain!”

Shan Zhi was so horrified that he could no longer maintain his usual calm demeanor, his emotions fluctuating wildly.

The pupils in his eyes vanished. His gaze lost focus as he stared into the long river of fate.

He was seeing how the war between the Human-Demon Races would develop and what its final outcome would be in the established flow of destiny.

With but a gentle touch, the fate of countless people could be altered; they could survive the Demon Beasts’ assault on their city.

But in the next instant, a colossal Demon Beast that blotted out the sky would reveal its true form and swallow them whole. Even the cities of the Central Domain began to fall.

No matter what he changed, the powerful, corrective force of destiny would drag everything back to its predetermined path.

”The Jade Ruler! The Flying Sword!”

”I don’t know if they represent two Heaven-Reaching Spiritual Treasures or two Cultivators, but from the moment they appear, destiny becomes uncertain again! I cannot see the visions that follow; it has gone beyond the limits of my All-Knowing Path!”

After a long while, Shan Zhi finally withdrew from his state of peering into destiny with the All-Knowing Path, shouting.

With every word he spoke, he coughed up a mouthful of Essence Blood, making one wonder if this True Monarch from the Evil Fate Sect would bleed to death.

”You’re being alarmist. The strength of the Human Race far exceeds that of the Demon Race. It’s impossible for something like this to happen!”

Bai Zichen rose to leave, though his heart was a maelstrom of turmoil.

’It was because among the images manifested by Shan Zhi of the Evil Fate Sect, the Flying Sword was none other than his Ziwei Dazzling Thunder Sword.’

’Unless Shan Zhi had already divined that the true identity beneath the Ziwei Star Star Monarch’s mask was Bai Zichen of the Northern Domain, the appearance of the Ziwei Dazzling Thunder Sword carried far too much meaning.’

’Could the Demon Race truly be powerful enough to push back the Human Race and conquer the entire Eastern Domain? But how could I be the key to turning the tide? Not even Divinity Transformation Great Powers can stop them. By then, I’ll be Mid-Stage Nascent Soul at best. Am I supposed to contend with a Divinity Transformation Great Power...?’

Bai Zichen’s heart raced. He had wanted to ride the coattails of a Divinity Transformation Cultivator, hiding away in the Star Palace Secret Realm to cultivate in peace.

But now, someone was suddenly telling him that he was the key figure in the war between the Human-Demon Races, and that those Divinity Transformation Great Powers were unreliable.

How could he not be shocked by such a turn of events?

’As much as I don’t want to believe it, everything suggests there’s a high probability that what Shan Zhi said is true... Could it be that the Demon Race has obtained some Heaven-Defying Treasure that gives them an overwhelming advantage at the Divinity Transformation level?’

Bai Zichen’s mind was in turmoil. After leaving the Black Market, he shot into the sky using Sword Control and subconsciously flew toward the Southern Domain.

’A million Demon Beasts, even a hundred million, might seem intimidating, but the outcome of the war will ultimately be decided by high-level combat power. In a war between races, even Nascent Soul True Monarchs are little more than high-grade cannon fodder. Only the Divinity Transformation Great Powers are the decisive factor.’

’Shan Zhi made it very clear. In terms of known forces, the Outer Sea plus the two inland Demon Race Sacred Lands only amount to three Divinity Transformation Demon Lords.’

’To overcome the gap between the two races, they would have to rely on a Heaven-Defying Treasure.’

’A Top-Grade Heavenly Spirit Treasure?’

’That’s probably not enough. A single Tier Five Flying Sword can’t give a Divinity Transformation Cultivator the power to fight multiple opponents at once.’
