Chapter 6224: Old Cat is the Treasure?

“Old Cat’s? Old Cat is from the Ancient Era?” Chu Feng asked.

“Yes,” Lord Zhenlong replied.

“But why can’t I see it?” Chu Feng looked at Old Cat once more, but he couldn’t sense any Ancient Era’s aura from the latter.

“What you see isn’t Old Cat’s main body. That is just his avatar; his main body is the treasure,” Lord Zhenlong replied.

“Old Cat is the treasure?” Chu Feng was even more surprised.

“That’s right,” Lord Zhenlong replied.

Wu!

Just then, Old Cat halted his attack. He let out a deep groan, and his killing intent began to recede. His eyes brimmed with indignation as he collapsed to the ground.

It happened so quickly that even the Ancient Era’s War Clansmen were taken aback, but it showed that Old Cat was shouldering a great burden from absorbing the treasure’s energy to attack them, and he was reaching his limit.

“Chu Feng, I’ll leave you with a formation. You can come out through it. Come out and meet me at this location, and I’ll tell you the truth,” Lord Zhenlong said via voice transmission as he took out a copper sword, fused a formation in it, and passed it through the copper coin formation.

The copper sword disintegrated as it transformed into a green pillar of light and struck the black wall, causing it to shake once more.

The Ancient Era’s War Clan’s Clan Chief harrumphed. “A mere rank two Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist dares to act so arrogantly? You must think our Ancient Era’s War Clan has fallen from grace!”

He channeled his bloodline power into the black wall via his token.

This time, the other clansmen didn’t need to do a thing. Just the clan chief’s prowess was enough to stabilize the shaking wall.

Cheers broke out within the Ancient Era’s War Clan.

Without Old Cat, not even a rank two Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist could pose a threat to them. Naturally, they were excited to have survived this ordeal.

“Why didn’t he use that earlier?” Xianhai Shaoyu was confused.

He couldn’t understand why the clan chief allowed the copper wall to collapse when he could have stopped the Heavenly Dragon World Spiritist with this power. There was no reason to wait till the enemy reached the black wall before making a move.

“My silly brother, that skill probably has an area restriction. He couldn’t use it because the copper wall was too far away.” Little Fishy looked at Xianhai Shaoyu in disdain.

“Really?” Xianhai Shaoyu looked at Chu Feng. He was more inclined to trust the latter’s judgment.

“There’s no other reason to explain it,” Chu Feng replied via voice transmission.

“That sounds right. Ey, looks like I am getting dumb.” Xianhai Shaoyu nodded. He also thought Little Fishy’s deduction made sense.

The cheers grew louder as Lord Zhenlong grabbed the unconscious Old Cat and retreated.

Chu Feng could tell that Lord Zhenlong’s earlier attack was formidable even though it was quickly suppressed. He was attempting to create an opening in the black wall, and this opening could only be exploited from the inside.

Chu Feng could use the opening to modify the black wall’s formation and slip out.

However, Lord Zhenlong and Old Cat would also be able to enter the black wall using the opening, rendering the black wall useless.

Even though Lord Zhenlong had once helped him, Chu Feng was not inclined to undermine the Ancient Era’s War Clan just like that. Old Cat’s earlier killing intent was so overwhelming that he might go on a massacre if he slipped in.

“Chu Feng, who do you think is more credible?” Eggy asked.

“What does Milady Queen think?” Chu Feng returned the question.

“You speak first.”

“Old Cat is unreliable, and I don’t know Lord Zhenlong well either, but I find Lord Zhenlong’s words more credible. What do you think, Eggy?”

“I concur. That Zhenlong old man looks more trustworthy. I don’t think the Ancient Era’s War Clan’s Clan Chief is a good person.”

“What makes you say so?”

“I noticed that the people leading the reinforcement earlier are all the descendants of the clan chief. I initially thought the True God level cultivators were subservient to Zhan Mudan and Zhan Moli because the clan chief made special arrangements for them because of their young age, but that seemed to be the norm instead of the exception.

“The clan chief’s offspring are monopolizing all the important posts. I find it offputting how power-hungry the clan chief is. He may be qualified to be the clan chief, being a rank eight True God level cultivator, but he has many offspring occupying important positions. How good could someone who practices such blatant nepotism be?” Eggy said.

“Your words make sense.” Chu Feng nodded.

“But that doesn’t mean Old Cat and Lord Zhenlong are trustworthy. Old Cat can’t be trusted. Lord Zhenlong might have passed down his legacy to you, but birds of the same feather flock together. Now that he’s with Old Cat, who knows if they are the same type of people? Chu Feng, keep your guard up and don’t be exploited by them. Our goal is not to side with anyone but to obtain the treasure,” Eggy reminded.

“I know,” Chu Feng replied as he glanced at the clan chief.

Even though Old Cat and Lord Zhenlong had halted their attack and left the area, the Ancient Era’s War Clansmen continued to stay vigilant. They had begun repairing the black wall under their clan chief’s instructions.

“Lord Clan Chief, may I offer my help?” Chu Feng stepped forward and offered his service.

“That would be wonderful, young friend Chu Feng.” The clan chief was overjoyed to hear that.

The other Ancient Era’s War Clansmen also welcomed Chu Feng’s help, having witnessed the feats he had achieved thus far. Even though Xianhai Shaoyu and Little Fishy’s bloodline powers were formidable too, they thought that Chu Feng’s help was more valuable.

…

Meanwhile, Lord Zhenlong finally stopped after fleeing a far distance away from the black wall. The sleeping Old Cat in his arms suddenly opened his eyes.

“It is Chu Feng. I didn’t sense wrongly,” Old Cat said as he got to his feet. He was weakened, but not so much that he would pass out. He was pretending to faint earlier. “Lord Zhenlong, do you think Chu Feng would come out?”

“You know him better than me. What do you think?” Lord Zhenlong returned the question.

“That fellow is sharp-witted; I doubt he’ll fall for it so easily. If he refuses to help, we’ll just follow our original plan. This is a rare opportunity. I won’t let it slip through my fingers even if I have to put my life on the line,” Old Cat said.

“What if Chu Feng sides with the Ancient Era’s War Clan?” Lord Zhenlong said.

A vicious glint flashed across Old Cat’s eyes. “Then we’ll kill him too.”
