Chapter 1247: Shateur’s Offer For Proof

In other words, the probationary period was no more than a kind of formality. Without a doubt, Varuu would use the chance to dismiss the Duvelle family Elders and replace them with her own people.

Varuu retracted her aura as things settled down in the promotion test room.

”What a terrifying pressure... So, this is the current Head of the Apothecary Guild.” Worldly Skies commented.

”For a second, I thought a battle was going to break out.” Celia said.

”That won’t happen. In the end, this place is the Apothecary Guild. Starting a fight here is no different than attacking Amaharpe itself. Even if they were ten times more courageous, they would not dare to cross that line.” Izroth said in a carefree manner.

The Apothecary Guild was not just some second rate organization. Its influence stretched well beyond that of Danaharpe and even Amaharpe itself.

Of course, even if that was not the case, the Head of the Apothecary Guild was an entity that even those powerful organizations would have to think twice before offending if they found out her true identity. After all, no one wanted to make enemies of the true dragons.

Shateur could feel himself losing momentum. The atmosphere had also shifted among the observers and Apothecaries present as he sensed them slipping away from him.

”The Holy Maiden’s problem is something even I am not 100% confident in curing. How can a mere grade five Apothecary succeed where two Elders of my family failed? No matter how I think about it, it is impossible. Could it be that she moved behind the scenes and cured the Holy Maiden herself? No... that’s not what’s important right now. If word gets out that two Elders of my family failed to cure something even a grade five Apothecary had no trouble dealing with—it will be a loss of face for my Duvelle family.” Shateur thought to himself.

”I was simply shocked by Apothecary Head Varuu’s words. I hope you don’t take my actions too much to heart. I have no intention of making enemies of Apothecary Head Varuu or the Apothecary Guild.” Shateur said as he cupped his fist into his hand.

He then continued, ”However... Apothecary Head Varuu’s words are truly unbelievable. I must say that I lack the words to describe how impressed I am with this grade five Apothecary. In fact, I would like to meet them in person in order to exchange a few words.”

Now that his other approach had shown no results, Shateur had no choice but to switch up his methods. As long as he played his hand right, Shateur believed that he could still salvage the situation and bend it in his favor. He still could not believe that a grade five Apothecary cured the Holy Maiden. Therefore, if he insisted on meeting the person and unveiled Varuu’s lies in front of everyone, then she would have no choice but to admit her wrongs.

That being said, Shateur was not foolish enough to believe that Varuu did not prepare for such a possibility. That is why he had another card up his sleeves. Of course, if Varuu refused his request that would be even better since it would mean that was she hiding something.

”What a coincidence. The person in question happens to be here. However, it is up to them whether or not they are willing to exchange a few words with Family Head Shateur.” Varuu stated calmly.

When those words left Varuu’s mouth, the room became abuzz with whispers and mutters.

Naturally, there were not many people present who knew of the Holy Maiden’s situation. However, they did understand the difficulty of a five star request listed on the Wall of Pills. If there truly was a grade five Apothecary capable of completing a five star request, it would be worth recruiting them if they were not part of any organizations.

Everyone’s eyes darted around the room seeing if anyone would step forward.

A small smirk formed on Shateur’s face before he said, ”I am Shateur Duvelle, the Head of the Duvelle family. I would like to meet and exchange a few words with the Apothecary who cured the Holy Maiden. I hope you can show this old man some face. As long as you are willing to do so, I will make sure you spend your time in Danaharpe comfortably.”

There were many people in Danaharpe who would kill to make a connection with the Duvelle family, especially when the Head himself was the one extending his hand. In the eyes of those present, this was an opportunity that should not be missed!

Shateur’s gaze traveled throughout the room as he tried to find the Apothecary that Varuu mentioned.

”I can exchange a few words with you. But, I’m afraid your offer is a bit lacking. I prefer something a bit more tangible.” Izroth’s voice sounded as he stepped forward.

Shateur’s gaze locked onto Izroth. However, when he saw the person in question, it caused him to visibly frown. He was clearly a person who participated in the promotion test. This meant that he would have had to be a grade four Apothecary when he cured the Holy Maiden—an even more ridiculous notion than a grade five Apothecary.

”Apothecary Izroth, I know that you are used to having the spotlight on you, but this is neither the time nor place to interfere. It is not your place to talk nonsense. Can you afford to pay the price for deceiving my father?” Pierce spoke up.

Pierce was there when Izroth challenged Rygar to the Right of Challenge and knew that not that long ago, Izroth was just a grade three Apothecary. While it was impressive that he could go from being a grade three Apothecary to a grade five Apothecary in less than a day, it was impossible that he could be responsible for curing the Holy Maiden.

”Since you do not wish to join hands in success, you can only blame yourself. Let’s see how arrogant you can act in front of my father.” Pierce thought to himself.

Pierce had already informed his father that those of talent worth recruiting this time around had no intention of joining their Duvelle family. As a result, there was no longer any need to show them any courtesy. And, he could finally deal with Izroth and Celia for his earlier humiliation he had to endure.

”Do I have to waste my time deceiving others? Unlike a certain someone, I have neither the time nor energy to bother employing such useless methods.” Izroth stated calmly.

”You-!” Pierce started; however, a simple glance from his father quickly silenced him.

”Young man, did you not just finish the promotion test to become a grade five Apothecary?” Shateur questioned as he narrowed his eyes.

Izroth let out a small sigh and shook his head as he said, ”Apothecary Head Varuu was trying to be considerate. But, I can see that her kindness is being looked down upon. It is true that I just passed the promotion test. In truth, before today, I was a grade three Apothecary. I am sure the Head of the Duvelle family can understand what that means.”

Shateur’s expression darkened. Was he trying to say that he was not a grade five or even a grade four Apothecary when he solved the Holy Maiden’s problem, but a grade three Apothecary?!

”Young man- No, Apothecary Izroth—as long as you can show me proof that you cured the Holy Maiden without any outside help, I will give you the Cosmic Trinity Pill I crafted.” Shateur said boldly.

Brukan and Juria’s eyes widened in shock as they looked at their family head.

”Oh?” Varuu said as her lips curved into an amused smile.

”The Cosmic Trinity Pill is a top grade eight pill comparable to some low grade nine pills. Simply showing some proof in exchange for a top grade eight pill—surely, you won’t turn down such an opportunity?” Shateur said with a meaningful gaze.

”Celia, you should-” Worldly Skies started; however, when she looked next to her, she noticed Celia had disappeared.

When Worldly Skies looked around, she soon realized that Celia had distanced herself from her and Izroth.

Celia gave a thumbs up and winked at Worldly Skies.

”That girl... What is she up to this time?” Worldly Skies thought to herself with a helpless expression.

”If you want to deny the face that Apothecary Head Varuu has given to you, I don’t mind proving myself.” Izroth said as he walked forward.

While Izroth did not know the effects of the Cosmic Trinity Pill, it was still a top grade eight pill. Therefore, he saw no reason to turn down such a rare chance.

”Hmph, there is no need to concern yourself about that. All you have to do is prove yourself. But, you know what will happen to those who try to deceive my Duvelle family, right?” Shateur said with a cold gaze.
