The Wealthy Tycoon's Game of Life

Chapter 1149: Chapter 432: Despair (Part 2)

”What do you mean by that?”

Noticing something amiss, the expression on Yu Zetao’s face changed slightly.

”I mean, well... it’s not really a problem to let Duoduo sit next to him, after all, there are so many people here, and Mr. He isn’t the kind of person to act recklessly...”

Qi Kai stammered as he spoke.

”Old Qi, is that how you talk?”

Yu Zetao finally became visibly angry, ”You’ve watched Duoduo grow up, and she’s always treated you like an uncle, is this how you treat your niece?”

”Old Qi, how could I really push Duoduo into a fire pit, I mean, regardless of anything, we should first appease Mr. He, since you still need his help, you see, all these big shots at the table are looking at him. As long as we please him, then everything will be settled...”

”Qi Kai! Since when did you become...”

Yu Zetao started to scold but suddenly fell silent, then with a questioning look, he asked, ”Wait a minute, did you deliberately ask me to bring my family today because you had this plan from the beginning?”

”How could that be true, I just thought it would be livelier with your whole family present...”

”...”

Yu Zetao didn’t speak, just stared intently at Qi Kai.

Having known each other for so many years, how could he not notice Qi Kai’s guilt in that moment?

Yu Zetao was somewhat incredulous; the Qi Kai in his memory, although sometimes a bit ostentatious, would never do such a thing.

Seeing Qi Kai trying to offer some pale explanation, Yu Zetao took a deep breath, managing to hold back his urge to react on the spot, but at the same time, his expectations for the dinner had dropped to the lowest.

”Enough, Old Qi, whatever you were thinking, I no longer wish to delve into it, but today’s dinner ends here.”

Feeling suddenly disheartened, Yu Zetao finally gave up all illusions and said calmly.

”Don’t do this, Old Yu, do you know how much effort I put into getting all these people to come...”

”Say no more.”

Yu Zetao waved his hand, no longer paying heed to Qi Kai, and turned directly to walk back.

As the people around the round table were still chatting and laughing, Yu Zetao poured himself a cup of tea, then heavily placed the teapot on the table.

The sound attracted everyone’s attention, and with a slightly stunned look, Yu Zetao raised his teacup and looked around, ”Mr. He, and esteemed presidents, I cannot handle alcohol well, so I’ll use tea instead of wine, toast you all one last time, enjoy your meal, I’ll take my family and leave first...”

”Leave?”

He Jiang furrowed his brows, glanced at the embarrassed Qi Kai behind Yu Zetao, and said with narrowed eyes, ”So, Old Qi, is this the result of your negotiation?”

”Mr. He is a big figure, we small citizens cannot climb higher, so naturally, we must take our leave, and ask that Mr. He does not take it to heart...”

”So, you’re planning to be disrespectful to my face?”

He Jiang sneered.

Insulted once again by He Jiang, Yu Zetao forcefully suppressed the surging anger within him, barely smiling as he cupped his hands, ”Farewell!”

Having said that, Yu Zetao motioned to Yu Fei and the others, ready to leave with them.

”Mr. He, I’ll, I’ll see them out first...”

Qi Kai quickly followed behind them, heading towards the exit of the private room.

But then, with a glance from He Jiang, two burly bodyguards in black suits emerged from the corner of the corridor, blocking their path.

”Mr. He, what do you mean by this? Do we not even have the freedom to leave?”

Yu Zetao finally couldn’t hold back, anger appearing on his face as he turned to question.

It was already 2024, and he truly didn’t believe He Jiang would dare do anything to them.

”Don’t get me wrong, Mr. Yu, I am a law-abiding citizen, why would I do anything illegal?”

This time, He Jiang, who was quick to change his face, smiled amiably again,

”It’s just that I see President Qi is also planning to leave with you, and that seems inappropriate. Between the two of you, one has to stay to clarify some issues, otherwise, even if I’m willing to let you go, Director Gao and Mr. Xu may not agree... Old Gao, and Mr. Xu, don’t you think? ”

”Mr. He speaks right to my heart; today, after a long absence, President Qi contacted me, and I was quite delighted, thinking that with Mr. He present, I could finally relax. Now if President Qi leaves, it wouldn’t be right for Mr. He, would it?”

Xu Qing from Ginkgo Capital elegantly wiped her mouth with a napkin and said with a light smile.

”Yes, Mr. He is President Qi’s guarantor, we certainly can’t make things difficult for Mr. He, can we?”

Director Gao from Zhao Hang’s financial department sighed, ”You must know, it was out of respect for Mr. He that we agreed to make special arrangements for you, you can’t just burn your bridges like this, can you?”

Hearing their words, Yu Zetao turned in confusion to Qi Kai.

”Old Qi, what do they mean by guarantor?”

As the flustered Qi Kai stammered without producing a coherent word, He Jiang leisurely lit a cigar.

”It seems like I guessed right, you truly know nothing!”

”What exactly are you talking about?”

Yu Zetao frowned.

”Alright, let me explain it to you then.”

He Jiang crossed his legs, smiling, ”Simply put, more than a month ago, Qi Kai borrowed a sum of money from Zhao Hang and Ginkgo Capital, totaling a hundred million, and I was the guarantor... but, this loan was due three days ago, and yet our President Qi was unreachable until today. Now, tell me, what do you think he’s up to?”

”A hundred million?”

Yu Zetao’s expression changed dramatically. In that instant, many doubts flashed through his mind, along with an ominous premonition, yet reason told him that getting out of there as soon as possible was the most urgent task.

Thus, Yu Zetao barely managed to smile and said:

”Mr. He, the debt dispute between you is unclear to me and has nothing to do with me, if there’s nothing else...”

”Hey, don’t rush, I haven’t finished speaking yet. How do you know it has nothing to do with you?”

He Jiang waved his hand, indicating to Director Gao, who then motioned to the secretary standing in the back. The young man immediately took out several copies of documents from his bag and handed them to Yu Zetao.

At the same time, He Jiang also said, ”Although I was the guarantor, these were loans totaling a hundred million, naturally with corresponding collateral, and all the assets used as collateral by Old Qi belong to you, legal representative Yu Zetao, that’s your name... Hmm, to put it another way, this loan essentially involved both of you, look, it’s your handwritten authorization to Old Qi, isn’t it?”

Actually, without He Jiang’s explanation, Yu Zetao already understood everything when he saw those documents.

He turned, trembling, looking incredulously at Qi Kai, whose eyes were avoiding his gaze:

”Over a month ago, you asked me for an authorization, saying it was for an asset evaluation of the factory, but you actually used it for a mortgage loan?!”

”Old Yu, let me explain...”

”What’s the point of explaining, a hundred million, how could you?!”

Yu Zetao’s chest heaved, ”The factory along with all the medical equipment combined isn’t worth that much, is it?”

”Mr. Yu, you’re mistaken again. It’s not a matter of value, the issue now is, even though those assets were used as collateral, your President Qi can’t produce them now...”

”What?”

Yu Zetao mumbled, ”Old Qi, what’s he talking about?”

”Those assets were sold off a few days ago by me, I planned to circulate the funds, Old Yu, rest assured, I’ll figure something out, I won’t drag you into this...”

Whatever Qi Kai said after that, Yu Zetao couldn’t hear anymore. He felt the world spinning, and combined with the accumulated alcohol effects and intense anger, he suddenly turned blacked out and fell backward.

”Dad...”

...

”Can someone help me, my dad is about to collapse...”

In a certain corner of Weijing Pavilion’s lobby, Xu Wenqian, who was quietly discussing with Lin Ran whether the new essence cream from Yashulande was effective, suddenly heard a familiar crying voice and turned her head in surprise.

”Yu Duo?”

After a brief moment of hesitation, Xu Wenqian quickly stood up.
