Empire Rising: Spain

The position of a king without an heir is not so stable, because once an accident occurs, the succession to the throne will face many problems.

In the Europe of this era, accidents are not uncommon. Especially after the development of rifle technology, there have been more ways for a king to be assassinated.

One of the reasons Carlo continually boosts his reputation in Spain is to avoid being assassinated by the Spanish people every day.

This is no joke. Prime Minister Prim in history was killed in an assassination, which also made the Spanish Savoy Dynasty a laughingstock, a joke that lasted only a few years before it was forced to give up itself.

On the day Prince Juan Fernando was born, many factories in the suburbs of Madrid were brightly lit. Many of these were printing presses, which had close cooperation with various newspapers, needing to urgently print news about the birth of the royal family’s eldest son and sell it in major cities around Madrid the next day.

Do not underestimate the popularity of the royal family in Spain, especially when it comes to matters related to Carlo. Unlike other European countries, Spain’s founding history is closely related to Catholicism, which is also closely related to the monarchy.

The people have an extraordinary sentiment toward the king, especially when most of the country is made up of conservative farmers, the support for the king is very high.

Under the backdrop of reforms by Carlo and Prime Minister Prim that made Spain flourish, Carlo naturally enjoyed such preferences.

Especially with the powerful promotion of public opinion, the Spanish people became very fond of Carlo, the foreign king, even affectionately calling him “the savior sent by God.”

This has something to do with Carlo’s Italian origin. The center of Catholicism is in the Vatican, and the Vatican is located in Italy.

As an Italian, it is not surprising that Carlo is promoted and deified as the savior sent by God.

Although the truth is that Italy has always wanted to reclaim the Vatican, it had to give up due to the pressure from Catholic believers, but who among the common people cares about these things?

They are more willing to believe that Carlo is the savior sent by God to save the Spaniards oppressed by the evil Bourbon family for hundreds of years.

Even if someone didn’t believe at first, if all the newspapers say so, and relatives and friends around them say so, they will naturally believe it under the subtle influence.

It is precisely because of such propaganda that Carlo enjoys extremely high popularity within Spain. Although most people’s attitude toward Carlo does not reach the level of fanatic loyalty, at least a considerable number of people have a favorable impression of Carlo.

In this monarchy, having a favorable impression represents loyalty to the king. As long as Carlo does not personally enact any tyrannical policies, the support for the king among the people will not decrease too much.

It can only be said that this is the characteristic of this era. Although technology is relatively backward, it also leads to the ignorance of this population.

With some assistance from public opinion, Carlo’s image in the minds of most people can become very good, even turning into a very positive and great image.

Under the influence of herd mentality, the effect of such propaganda will become increasingly effective, and will also give Carlo a higher status and influence in the hearts of the Spaniards.

For Carlo, such a thing is certainly good news. However, it also represents the power of public opinion, and Carlo must grasp the power of public opinion.

As long as he can grasp the power of public opinion, Carlo’s throne will not be afraid of any challenges. Public opinion can not only unify the people of the entire country into a single rope, but also make Carlo the controller of this rope.

Although there are many drawbacks to personal worship, for present Spain, perhaps personal worship is the fastest way to enhance the nation’s overall strength and increase national cohesion.

There is no need to think much, a united Spain, marching forward under Carlo’s orders, is certainly stronger than a Spain with fierce factional struggles and constant quarrels over monarchy and republicanism.

At least Carlo has the confidence to steer this big ship of Spain, allowing Spain to sail towards bright and warm harbors rather than storms in the ocean.

Back to the news about the birth of the royal family’s eldest son, which the newspapers are rushing to prepare.

Although they have already learned of Carlo’s eldest son’s birth, they have not yet learned the little one’s name and specific photos.

But these are no longer important. Whoever can be the first to distribute the newspaper will surely seize the number one spot in newspaper sales the next day.

It can also take this opportunity to seize a large share of the newspaper market, increasing the influence and reputation of the newspaper.

There are also peculiar ones among newspapers, such as the royal family’s Spanish Sun Newspaper and Spanish National Daily.

These two newspapers are also urgently printing big news about Carlo’s eldest son’s birth, but their news is noticeably more detailed.

They not only know the name of Carlo’s eldest son, but also know the time of his birth and the news that he has already received the title of Earl of Genoa in Italy.

It is not surprising that Carlo’s eldest son received an Italian earl title, after all, Carlo is also the Prince of Italy, the royal families of the two countries are related by blood, and the kings of the two countries are connected by blood and flesh as father and son.

But this also proves the importance King Vittorio Emanuele of Italy places on this child, for European kings rarely grant titles to princes from other countries.
