The Return Of The God Level Assassin

Chapter 1370: A NEW INFO ABOUT THE PAST

AFTER almost three hours of flying and another hour of driving from the airport, which included traffic and dropping Luo Yan off at the Bai family mansion, Shen Ji Yun finally returned home. He opened the door and walked inside. His body felt worn from the travel, but he felt like he was walking on air. He set his bag down on the couch and dropped onto the seat beside it, letting out a long breath.

The whole weekend felt like a dream. He felt closer to Luo Yan now than ever. It was like the last wall between them had finally come down. He leaned his head back against the couch and let out a slow breath. A smile spread across his face.

Even though he and Luo Yan had just separated, he already wanted to see him again. Like his longing had only grown stronger instead of fading. He pulled out his phone and stared at the photo they had taken at the airport. The one where he was looking at Luo Yan instead of the camera. He asked Luo Yan to send it to him.

He chuckled, remembering the woman at the airport who had overheard their conversation and blushed at it. She hadn’t looked judgmental, which was nice. It gave him a little hope that not everyone would see his relationship with Luo Yan in a negative light.

But as Shen Ji Yun sat there, basking in his happiness, he remembered something. A detail from what Luo Yan had told him about his past. The couple who adopted him and abused him. Luo Yan hadn’t shared all the details of his experience with them, but Shen Ji Yun could tell from the way he spoke and the look on his face how deeply he had been hurt. As a child who just wanted to belong, that kind of experience must have been deeply traumatizing.

He knew how important it was for a child to have at least one adult who truly cared for them. He knew that firsthand. After losing his father, his mother had fallen apart. If it hadn’t been for his uncle, he didn’t know what would have become of him. But Luo Yan had been alone. And when he thought he had finally found a new family, all he got was more pain. Shen Ji Yun couldn’t imagine how much that must have affected him. It was honestly amazing that Luo Yan had still grown up to be kind and thoughtful despite everything.

Shen Ji Yun wondered if he could find that couple. If they had faced any consequences for what they did, or if they had simply moved on to do the same thing to other children. Finding new orphans and shaping them into the son they wanted. There was only one way to find out. And that’s to thoroughly look into them.

He stood up and carried his bag up to his room. Once inside, he set it down and opened his laptop. He had wanted to search for that couple online, but he couldn’t do it while Luo Yan was around. He didn’t want to make him relive that pain. He had managed to ask for their names while they were touring Rissai Valley, though. He had used every bit of acting skill he had to keep his tone casual so Luo Yan wouldn’t suspect anything. But he had a feeling Luo Yan already knew what he was doing and was just going along with it. Which was fine. It meant Luo Yan had really let go of the past.

But somehow, Shen Ji Yun didn’t feel the same. He wanted that couple to suffer just as much as Luo Yan had. Maybe even more. But it wasn’t like he could go out and beat them up, no matter how much he wanted to. So the best thing he could do for now was to look them up online and figure out what to do next from there. He typed the names into the search bar, as well as other key words.

[Wang Guang Min and Li Xiuqin] [husband wife] [adoption] [domestic violence]

Then he pressed Enter.

He wasn’t expecting much. Not everything about a person showed up online unless they had a strong social media presence. But to his surprise, the search returned a lot of results.

The one that caught his attention was the very first result.

[Married Couple Arrested for Manslaughter After Adopted Son Dies from ‘Discipline’] .

Shen Ji Yun clicked on the link and began reading.

[Wang Guang Min and Li Xiuqin appeared to be a respectable couple. He was a successful businessman, she was a well-known philanthropist. They held significant influence in their community. They had one son, a promising violin prodigy who died at the age of ten in a hit-and-run accident.

After years of mourning, the couple decided to adopt. They chose a boy who was the same age their son had been when he died. The adoption was seen as a hopeful new beginning, aiding the couple in their healing process. However, just over a year later, the boy’s body was discovered in the basement of their home. An investigation revealed multiple injuries consistent with ongoing abuse. The cause of death was determined to be a broken neck, consistent with injuries from a fall down a flight of stairs.

Further investigation found that this was not the first time the couple had adopted a ten-year-old boy. Over the years, they had adopted several other children of the same age. Each time, the children were returned to their orphanages after a short period. No abuse was reported, and the couple’s wealth and reputation likely helped them avoid scrutiny.

Wang Guang Min and Li Xiuqin were arrested and charged with intentional homicide. After a lengthy trial, the court found them guilty. They were both sentenced to life in prison.]

Shen Ji Yun reread the article. So, they were in prison now? He checked the sentencing date. It was eighteen years ago. If his calculations were correct, Luo Yan’s original body, not the one he had now, would have been twelve at the time. Had Luo Yan ever found out about this? Had he ever known that the people who hurt him had been caught?
