The Return Of The God Level Assassin

”BROTHER, I donʼt think Jiao Jiao has a fever. Sheʼs probably just feeling a bit hot.” Luo Yan turned to Yu Jiao. ”Isnʼt that right, Jiao Jiao?”

”Yes!” Yu Jiao quickly said.

She wasnʼt sure if Luo Yan noticed that she was uncomfortable, but his timing was impeccable. Itʼs better to just go along with it instead of letting Luo Ren touch her cheek to check if she really had a fever or not. If that continued, she might really end up having a real fever.

”I-Iʼm really fine, Brother Ren,” she added.

Right after she said that, she almost smacked himself again. Because she didnʼt sound convincing at all.

Thankfully, Luo Ren didnʼt notice that at all. He was just simply glad and relieved that Yu Jiao didnʼt have a fever. ”Then, should we increase the temperature of the AC?”

”No, no, itʼs okay,” Yu Jiao said, this time, she sounded convincing at least.

”Did you have a proper talk with your mom?” Luo Yan thought of asking, completely changing the subject. Which he knew Yu Jiao would prefer.

Although he was rooting for his older brother in his love quest, he was mostly on Yu Jiaoʼs side. After all, his brother was the one doing the chasing. Meaning it would all depend on Yu Jiao whether she would accept his feelings or not.

Although it seemed like his brother still hadnʼt started his ʼchasingʼ yet. He was probably just waiting for Yu Jiao to be legal before he could go all out. Which, in Luo Yanʼs opinion, was a good idea. He didnʼt want to hear people saying that his brother was some kind of predator. When in truth, he hadnʼt even done anything that would warrant that.

He could see that Yu Jiaoʼs feelings for Luo Ren still hadnʼt reached the point she had fallen for him. From his observation, sheʼs probably just on the stage of being curious about his older brother. If that could develop into something more, then great. But if not, then thatʼs fine too.

As he had said, heʼs on Yu Jiaoʼs side. If Luo Ren ever did something that he shouldnʼt do, then he would be the first one to teach his brother a lesson. But he firmly believed that there wouldnʼt ever be a need for that. Heʼs not being bias because the other was his brother. Itʼs simply because he believed in Luo Renʼs character. He would never do something that could hurt the people he cared about.

”We did,” Yu Jiao answered Luo Yanʼs question. Then a complicated expression flashed on his face. ”Mom decided to divorce Uncle Mo.”

Both brothers were surprised hearing that last part. The two glanced at each other. They could both see each otherʼs thoughts at the moment. Which was not hard since they were both thinking of the same thing.

Firstly, that Yu Jiaoʼs mother wasnʼt so bad after all. She wasnʼt blinded by the life she had now that she had totally lost sight of what was important. They were glad that she still thought of Yu Jiao as the most important person in her life. At least, they could be sure that, no matter what happened from here on out, she would always put Yu Jiaoʼs safety and happiness at the very forefront.

And lastly, depending on Mo Guang Linʼs level of affection for his soon-to-be ex-wife, this divorce could greatly affect the relationship between him and his daughter. Which would ultimately help on their scheme.

Luo Yan hoped that Mo Guang Lin really loved Yu Jiaoʼs mother. That way, their scheme would go much smoothly.

Luo Ren noticed Yu Jiaoʼs complicated expression and couldnʼt help but ask, ”Does Jiao Jiao disagree with the divorce?”

”Itʼs not that I donʼt agree. I just… I donʼt want to be the cause of it,” Yu Jiao answered, her expression a bit down. ”It just felt like Iʼm taking away my motherʼs happiness.”

”Donʼt think like that, Jiao Jiao,” Luo Yan quickly admonished in a gentle tone. ”If you have to blame someone for this divorce, then it should be Mo Jian, not you. Even if this incident didnʼt happen, sooner or later, your mother and stepfatherʼs relationship would still be put to the test. It will happen as long as that Mo Jian is around. You should know it too.”

Yes, Yu Jiao indeed understood that. With how Mo Jian was, she would definitely conflict with her mother. Maybe not now but definitely in the future. But in Yu Jiaoʼs opinion, she was still one of the reasons for this possible divorce. Not just Mo Jian. So, if this divorce happened, then she was also at fault.

Luo Yan could see that what he said barely comforted Yu Jiao. So, he continued, ”If Mr. Mo agreed to divorce Auntie because of this, then that meant that his ʼloveʼ for her only extend to that point. That despite what happened today, Mo Jian is still an angel who could do no wrong in his eyes. If thatʼs the case, then Auntie is definitely better off without him. Who needs a stupid man in their life, right?”

Yu Jiao stopped and then couldnʼt help but chuckle when she heard what Luo Yan said. Itʼs not just because of the content of what he said. But mostly because of the way he said it. Itʼs very exaggerated and comical. Rolling his eyes and crossing his arms. As if he did it on purpose just to make her feel better. And for that alone, the guilt she felt had already lessen.

Luo Ren watched the interaction between the two and he was glad that Yu Jiao found such a great friend in his brother. Itʼs always good to have someone to rely on during times when one felt the most weak and vulnerable.

Of course, he hoped that he could also be that person for Yu Jiao. So, he thought of adding his own opinion to what his brother had already said. After all, he couldnʼt lose to Luo Yan. He also wanted to comfort Yu Jiao as best as he was allowed to.

”And you should not forget that thereʼs no way you could take away your motherʼs happiness,” he said, looking straight into Yu Jiaoʼs eyes. ”Because you are her happiness.”
