Chapter 1559: Chapter 1562: Golden Eagle Mercenary Group

”Damn it, it’s the Scorpion General under the Black Desert General’s command. We really are unlucky; whatever we hope to avoid, we end up encountering.”

Alan’s face turned somewhat pale, seemingly not expecting the situation to evolve this way.

Actually, Ling Xiao didn’t need Alan to speak; he had already guessed that the regular army running rampant here could only be the Black Desert General and his subordinates.

The Scorpion General, after killing dozens of Sand Bandits and plundering their treasures, cast his gaze upon Ling Xiao and the others.

Finally, his gaze settled on Alan. With a sly laugh, he said, ”So it’s you, members of the Golden Eagle Mercenary Group.”

The Scorpion General’s eyes held a trace of greed when looking at Alan, with a slight hint of wariness.

It seemed that this Golden Eagle Mercenary Group which Alan belonged to should be quite powerful; otherwise, the Scorpion General wouldn’t be so apprehensive.

He would have made a move already instead of standing there joking.

”Scorpion General, we are only here to hunt in the Black Desert. If you need, we are willing to hand over all our belongings. After all, with the Black Desert General as the Guardian of our Black Desert, our Golden Eagle Mercenary Group can prosper.”

These words were obviously just flattery.

Ling Xiao could understand Alan’s approach.

When encountering someone stronger than oneself, there is no other way. The key is to save one’s own life first before dealing with anything else.

Otherwise, if you lose your life, you lose everything.

However, sometimes this method not only fails to make the other party let you go, it might even make them more arrogant and greedy.

”Haha, looks like you’re quite obedient, but unfortunately, I want more than just belongings - I want people.”

The Scorpion General’s gaze swept over Leng Mei and Alan. Then he chuckled, ”Brothers, make your move. Capture the three women alive, and kill the rest of the men on the spot.”

Clearly, Alan’s submission did not earn the Scorpion General’s sympathy but rather made him even greedier.

A cold light flashed in Ling Xiao’s eyes.

In his case, when faced with such a situation, there was only one option, and that was to kill!

Even if not as strong as the opponent, one should first take down the leader and force the adversary to retreat.

Otherwise, if you retreat a foot, others will retreat a yard.

This is taking advantage inch by inch.

What’s more, he was much stronger than the opponent now, so how could he fear these fellows?

”Poof!”

A Shadow Cone shot from Ling Xiao’s hand.

Apart from Leng Mei, no one noticed.

The Shadow Cone pierced through the shadow, accurately penetrating the Scorpion General’s throat.

The formerly arrogant general had now become a corpse.

Those soldiers who intended to surround Ling Xiao and others stopped in their tracks upon seeing their general slain.

An expert!

There must be an expert!

Before they could gather their wits, a few more people inexplicably died tragically.

No one noticed the terrifying crocodile shadow on the Black Desert.

”Run!”

What does it matter if it’s a regular army?

After spending so long following a scoundrel like the Black Desert General, they had almost become bandits themselves.

After the inexplicable deaths of several comrades, they had no courage to stay any longer.

Each one turned their horse around and fled madly into the distance.

Alan glanced back at Ling Xiao and Leng Mei without noticing anything unusual.

Feeling slightly strange, yet unable to comprehend what had happened, she could only say to Ling Xiao, ”Both of you, the Scorpion General has been killed. The Black Desert General surely won’t let this go. We plan to return to the Mercenary Corps and cannot escort you further. Please take back your Spirit Stones.”

”It’s okay, we can first go with you to your Golden Eagle Mercenary Group. In this wilderness, if we encounter the Black Desert General’s men again, we won’t have a place to be buried.”

Ling Xiao quickly said.

He appeared very anxious, like a weak little lamb about to be abandoned.

”In that case, let’s hurry up.”

Alan seemed to be a kind-hearted girl, unwilling to leave Ling Xiao and Leng Mei to die.

Besides, she had just accepted Spirit Stones from someone else. Not doing something in return wouldn’t justify taking those Spirit Stones.

”Alan, how terrifying is the Black Desert General?”

On the road, Ling Xiao couldn’t help but ask.

He needed to understand the enemy’s strength.

This way, when the time came to act, he could better gauge the scope and avoid exposing his identity.

”The strength of the Black Desert General is at a Three Tenth Yin-Yang Elemental Force Cultivation Level of the Half-step Yin Yang Realm.

As for the four commanders under him, each has a One Tenth Yin-Yang Elemental Force Cultivation Level of the Half-step Yin Yang Realm.

The Scorpion General, who just got killed, I can’t say what killed him; there are strange creatures in the Black Desert.

In the Black Desert General’s legion, the weakest are Heavenly Realm Martial Artists, and their powerful strength allows them to run rampant in the Black Desert.”

Alan shivered slightly as she spoke about this.

”What about your Golden Eagle Mercenary Group? I noticed that the Scorpion General seemed somewhat wary of you; otherwise, he would have attacked already.”

Ling Xiao inquired.

”Just a slight wariness perhaps. The Scorpion General has cultivation comparable to our leader’s, but he suffered a loss to our leader once, just a little loss.”

Alan smiled bitterly, ”Once we return to the Mercenary Corps, you two can leave. Our Golden Eagle Mercenary Group can’t escape disaster this time.”

”Why? You didn’t kill the Scorpion General.”

Ling Xiao asked.

”Whether we did or not doesn’t matter anymore. The Black Desert General has long been eyeing our Golden Eagle Mercenary Group, wanting to take us for himself. But our leader is quite proud and refused to cooperate.

The Black Desert General had sent the Scorpion General to destroy us before, but we beat him.

He’s been holding a grudge, and he will definitely seize this opportunity to launch an accusation against us.” Alan sighed helplessly.

”Your leader must have something to rely on, otherwise the Black Desert General would have wiped you out already, right?”

Ling Xiao asked.

Alan looked at Ling Xiao, surprised, and said, ”I’m surprised you’re so perceptive. That’s right, our leader has a Golden Eagle left by his father, strong enough to match the Black Desert General, so he doesn’t dare to act recklessly.

But that Golden Eagle has been in poor condition lately, looking drowsy, and the Black Desert General will likely take this opportunity to attack.”

Ling Xiao lowered his head in thought.

The Golden Eagle’s poor condition probably had something to do with the Black Desert General.

There’s a traitor within the Golden Eagle Mercenary Group.

Although thinking this way, he didn’t express it.

Everyone continued onward.

Before long, they arrived at a sandcastle made of black sand and yellow earth — not large in size but rather imposing.

A ”Golden Eagle” flag hung above the sandcastle, exuding majesty.

”Alright, you two can leave now. We can’t allow you to be drawn into the conflict between the Black Desert General and the Golden Eagle Mercenary Group.”

Alan stopped in her tracks and said seriously.
