Tyrant Sky Martial Soul

Chapter 244: Chapter 244: After Extreme Adversity Comes Prosperity_1

”Everyone, come over and stand according to your number tags!”

Elder Bai’s expression was always cold, as if everyone owed him money, not given to laughter, and there was not the slightest hint of warmth.

From the responses of the Moon Hua Sect disciples, it was clear that Elder Bai must be very strict normally; otherwise, they definitely wouldn’t be so obedient.

But this was good.

Ling Xiao actually liked such cold and detached people. Generally, these types were less likely to be unjust.

For him, it was absolutely advantageous.

”Now, we will carry out the second trial—the potential test!”

Elder Bai stood under the massive sect gate and said, ”You all must have seen this gate. It’s a treasure forged by our Moon Hua Sect’s most outstanding artifact refiner. Its principle is similar to the Seven-Star Flower, but its effects are more comprehensive and much better!”

Hearing Elder Bai’s words, Ling Xiao understood.

The Seven-Star Flower can test potential, but it clearly falls short when it comes to potential above seven stars. This gate must have been designed by an artifact refiner based on the principles of the Seven-Star Flower.

”Next, start from the back and come forward to take the test. Do not use any martial skills. Gather your True Essence in the palm of your hand, then strike the gate.”

After Elder Bai finished speaking, he sat down to drink tea to the side, and naturally, there were people responsible for the details of the test process.

”Number 356, Liu Tian!”

”Present!”

Upon hearing his name, Liu Tian quickly moved through the crowd and stepped under the gate, then took a deep breath and followed Elder Bai’s instructions, striking the gate with a palm.

Contrary to expectations, the gate, which was assumed to make a loud noise, was utterly silent.

Even Liu Tian’s hand seemed to sink into the gate itself.

Soft?

Ling Xiao was somewhat surprised; he had looked at the bronze-colored gate and thought it was metallic. It must be a special material, likely one that he had never seen before.

Liu Tian’s strike made no impact on the gate whatsoever.

”Impossible, my potential is clearly five stars! Could it be that your gate is broken?” Liu Tian exclaimed in shock.

”I forgot to tell you. The Seven-Star Flower was used to test potential before the Twelve Sects reappeared in the world, but it only tests the potential of martial artists who don’t have a complete Martial Soul, which is a huge flaw!”

Elder Bai explained, ”This gate was designed to overcome the flaw of the Seven-Star Flower, and it’s also the unified testing standard within the Sect, significantly different from the Seven-Star Flower. It doesn’t include mortal body aptitudes, which means, one star here represents a Mortal Treasure Body!”

What!

Upon hearing this, everybody including Ling Xiao was taken aback.

It seemed that the reappearance of the Twelve Sects was not so simple after all. Many of the world’s rules had likely changed subtly, and many people just didn’t know it yet.

”But I indeed have five-star potential. If I were tested here, it should also result in a Mortal Treasure Body.”

Liu Tian said.

”That’s a good question. Why is that?”

Suddenly, Elder Bai raised his voice and said, ”It seems I’ve forgotten something else. To be tested and found to have a ’Treasure Body’ potential, you must have at least awakened ten percent of a Martial Soul Remnant. In other words, martial artists without a Martial Soul Remnant, regardless of your previous potential tests, are meaningless here.”

Upon hearing this, many people were dumbfounded.

Those who had awakened a Martial Soul Remnant were really few and far between, not to mention those with a complete Martial Soul.

The requirements of the Moon Hua Sect were indeed very high.

”Alright, I needn’t say more. Martial artists who haven’t awakened a Martial Soul Remnant, you can leave now. When you do, each of you will receive a Top-quality Zhenyuan Pill as compensation.”

Elder Bai’s words did embody the style of the Great Moon Hua Sect, presumably trying to curry favor with these people.

After all, awakening a Martial Soul Remnant is unpredictable, and who knows if these kids could awaken due to stress when they go back home the next day.

It wouldn’t be good to thoroughly offend these kids either.

This time, over two hundred people silently left.

Unlike the other three types of trials, those who were not up to standard in terms of potential were directly eliminated, while the other three types could continue with the trials even if they scored zero points.

From this, the importance of potential could be gauged.

”Not bad at all. It seems that after the reemergence of the Mountain and River Martial Soul, it has become easier to awaken Martial Soul Remnants. Continue.”

Elder Bai visibly showed a trace of joy, but it was fleeting.

The second person to undertake the test was a young girl. When she struck the gate with a palm, an object similar to a petal of the Seven-Star Flower appeared on the gate, shining with an odd light.

Ling Xiao noticed that this flower showed three colors.

But the three colors were slightly different from those of the Seven-Star Flower.

They were black, white, and red.

Black represents soul potential, white represents inner strength potential, and red represents physical potential.

This should be the standard display, right?

Although I don’t know why it’s displayed this way, there must be some conventional reasons for this.

”Very good, Mortal body, pass, score 1, next!”

...

The scoring rules here need to be explained.

One Star, score 1, is a Mortal body;

Two Stars, score 10, is a Fine body;

Three Stars, score 20, is a Precious body;

Four Stars, score 30, is an Immortal body;

Five Stars or more, one can directly pass the assessment with a full score!

It is clear, the higher the potential, the more benefits one gets. From any perspective, potential is obviously very important to the Moon Hua Sect.

A One Star here is equivalent to a Five Star potential tested with the Seven-Star Flower.

The Five Star Seven-Star Flower can’t even be tested here.

Therefore, the Sect’s gate test result is obviously much more accurate.

...

Subsequently, Martial Artists continuously went through the assessment, some were overjoyed to the point of tears, while others left in disappointment with tears in their eyes.

This kind of assessment is unavoidable, it’s merciless. If you don’t pass, you’re simply eliminated, and you don’t even have the chance to take other assessments.

”Number twenty, Dai Yuling!”

The moment of fate had arrived.

Dai Yuling’s potential had only reached four stars and ninety percent in her previous test, which meant that now, she wouldn’t even be able to light up a single star.

She really was facing a major crisis.

Master Baiyun was also sweating bullets for Dai Yuling.

”This young lady!”

While drinking tea, Elder Bai suddenly paused, his gaze toward Dai Yuling seemed somewhat different.

But he did not say anything.

Dai Yuling took the test.

As expected, one star only lit up around ninety percent but did not fully light up. Although it was three colors, it was a pity.

”Young girl, is your Martial Soul Remnant of the healing type?”

Seeing Dai Yuling walking down with her head lowered in despair, Elder Bai suddenly asked.

”Indeed!”

Dai Yuling nodded.

”As I thought. Well, although you do not qualify to become an Outer Disciple of the Moon Hua Sect, I have a friend who is a Steward of the Medicine Mountain at the Moon Hua Sect. If you are willing, you can become her disciple, which would eventually qualify you as an Inner Sect Disciple,” Elder Bai said with a smile.

This was a rare smile from him.

”Is this true?”

Dai Yuling hardly dared to believe this turn of events.

”Nonsense, how can Elder Bai possibly deceive you? Aren’t you going to kneel and thank him quickly!” Hei Suo snorted coldly.

This guy was always displeased with Master Baiyun’s disciples, and just when he thought he could eliminate one, such an unexpected opportunity arose. He was extremely annoyed.

”Hei Suo, this Elder is speaking. When is it your turn to interrupt?”

Elder Bai just glanced at Hei Suo, but those eyes were like sharp swords, making Hei Suo tremble all over.

”The disciple dares not.”

”If you dare not, then shut your mouth.”

After speaking, he turned his gaze back to Dai Yuling, waiting for her response.

”Of course, I am willing.”

Dai Yuling nodded eagerly, for if she were unwilling, wouldn’t that make her a fool?
